  1. I think the computer is giving MLC a lot of credit for running up the score against already defeated teams. They don’t play defense, and their offense isn’t nearly so good against even decent competition. I normally don’t feel confident going into a playoff game, but I think we’re going to embarrass them.

  3. I’m usually optimistic, half glass full kinda gal, but I do get passionate about HS football have v always loved it. I get angry when refs cheat or when a player tries to take another player out. Love it more than College even pro. There’s nothing better than being able to root for your team in the stands, screaming soo loud you have a headache or a sore throat the next day! Good times 🏈

For what he has to work with, LSM's head coach is doing a good job.

  6. I compared MLC record from last season…they BLEW OUT everyone and went UNDEFEATED right up until 3rd round when they got PUNCHED in the mouth by 11-1 FBM!! So I feel strong that history will repeat itself except it’ll be the 11-1 PNG INDIANS who PUNCH THEM IN THE MOUTH!!

  7. "Starting" = playing regularly, in my way of thinking. For example, there are linebackers that swap in and out, and rotate who plays the initial series. Perhaps the same with some of the linemen. But I know what you mean, and agree. Against Galena Park pretty much all of the defense and offense were back-ups to the back-ups, playing various positions. #11 was QB, eg; and I didn't know who the defensive linemen and linebackers were, and neither did the press box, he was just announcing numbers, and no names. Shea returning has given the team a new spark, and the seniors can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think they are ready and anxious to get onto the field against this #1 ranked team and get it on.

  9. The traffic on the website for this week’s playoff game during the first hour after sales opened yesterday apparently crashed the system for a few minutes. The online vendors these schools use just aren’t accustomed to this level of community support.

  14. Yeah not sure if Silsbee shouldn’t just not show up due to the 3 NFL backs for Bellville or if Bellville should just stay home because of the greatest show on turf the tigers are rolling out

  16. I love this. In 2012 I was at the regional semis and quarterfinals for Nederland. Even wore black and gold. It was a great time, especially that last touchdown pass against Pearland Dawson - one of the top sports experiences of my life. The crowd went ballistic.

  17. Yup just stop the run… that’s all you have to do… stack the box… know your assignments….focus on the run… it’s that easy. I’m trying to be polite but can we please stop throwing Vidor in the conversation? They aren’t anything close to Bellville. If Vidor can be used I wanna throw in the fact that Madisonville was averaging almost 400 yards of offense a game and finished with around 60 total and negative rushing Friday night as well as never crossing midfield. I always agree with 99% of your post btw big fan 😂😂

  20. Brandon Prouse and his staff have quietly been building a program in the 'Ville. He has changed the culture since he arrived. These are river bottom kids who've had many obstacles to overcome between the 2 River floods and countless hurricanes back to back to back. They have a certain toughness and he knows how to Coach that dog... Discipline is on full display as the kids enter/exit the field, hat under the right arm and single file down the sidelines. After the game the entire team and coaching staff went to the 50, raised their hats for the opposing school's song in a show of respect and then all huddled up and prayed together. That's exactly how it should be. Congratulations to The Pirates team, staff and community!

  21. +1...it's high school football in Mid-County...the talent comes and goes. Things will even out and circle back to where Nederland has a few years of talented kids with size and speed walking the halls. Then, all of a sudden, Monte Barrow will be a great coach again. Right now, the Indians are riding the wave of talented kids, good size on the OL/DL, and excellent coaching. Anyone who has watched PN-G and Nederland football since the 1950s knows that the good times and bad times swing back and forth.

    Opting up?

Were we finishing first in district for the past 30 years? Maybe I forgot lol lcm is not a powerhouse. If we have consistent winning records that's a far cry better than norm

  27. Yes Silsbee won against us. But what's Bellville got to be afraid of? The past two years combined they scored 47 pts. winning by a total of 4 pts . yeah sure, if you going by when they played BC they probably come across as the unstoppable force. lmao. you need to change your username from CardinalBacker to Tigger.

  28. We all think we know who the best players were. Wonder if they’re the same? Lol GCM going up to 6A is interesting. All their programs are going to struggle. Their middle is great and I’m not hating on her getting offensive. Of course I wish our program was better so my kid could be considered but it is what it is. She did all she could with the team she was on.

  29. Agreed. The district's top awards didn't make sense, but neither did the team selections. My gripe about the OPOY going to GCM is that they also had the Setter of the Year and Coach of the Year. If you have the top two offensive awards and coach of the year, you shouldn't have to have a play-in game for 3rd/4th, you would expect a team with those attributes to be markedly better. Honestly, anyone who watched all these teams knows who had the top offensive and defensive players and which had the top coach. Congratulations to GCM, though, but if the snapshot numbers in the Football forum are valid, these could be the last big volleyball awards they see for a while.

  30. Some of that could have been the demand on the site. MCM is a different animal than a regular game or even a playoff game as far as people wanting tickets.

  33. Other than Silsbee/Wb…BU don’t play local teams in the area outside of District play. Memorial isn’t on schedule this year and Hj hasn’t played Bu in 3years.. Go look and see how many games local teams have played and this is Bu 3rd game..Already have to travel to Htown for most games.. played in Dallas on Saturday. I think it was a fill in game and it turned into feel good game for just about everyone.

  38. I just choked on my freaking…uh…beverage.

  39. Yep, that is all Silsbee has to do is stack the box. Every team BV played this year has defensive coaches that know the same thing. In fact, they all tried to do it. All Bellville has to do bash Silsbee into oblivion like they did to all the teams that Silsbee struggled with. Smash them on the line of scrimmage and run straight over them. Then overwhelm the Silsbee offense with physicality. It is Bellvilles game to lose.

  40. What everyone is forgetting is ........ Since the first game of the season once Silsbee gets up by 2 touchdowns you are going to get a dose of run the ball only. So IF we wanted to run up the scores we could have. Silsbee QB could have 5,000 yards if we would have done that so Silsbee #'s are nowhere on paper what they could be if we would have kept our foot on the pedal and no to mention we put in 2nd and 3rd string defensive players to get them next man up ready. I cant tell you how many games that Silsbee QB didnt even throw a pass in the 2nd half of games. So you can look at stats or on paper and throw that out the window. I think it might be whoever has the ball last and it might be a 6-man football score at the end of the game. Silsbee will be ready and the defense has had its back to the goal line several times this year and they would bend but they didnt break and made some stops when they needed to. This should be an instant espn classic but i see my Tigers eating this week !!!

  41. You are correct, it is not little league coaching to strategize to stop the opponents best weapons, but it is little league coaching to assume that strategy was not part of the game plan coming in. I assure you, the entire BH staff knew about the biggest weapons on the Richland team as of late Friday night of last week and were scheming to shut them down. That plan was in place and wasn't properly executed. Sometimes, the other team is just better than you. Do I believe Richland was the better team overall? No. Do I believe they were the much better team in the second half and executed their game plan to perfection? Yes. Blowing big leads in the second half is indicative of players who take their foot off of the gas and aren't up for the challenge of fighting back to the accelerator when they get punched in the mouth. Richland proved they have those types of kids, BH has proven several times this year that they don't. Abseck's biggest challenge in the offseason is trying to produce a little dog in his guys so they know to put their foot on the neck of a downed opponent and finish them off. This point was illustrated by highly criticized 2 pt conversion try in OT. It was the right call because Abseck knew what I knew while watching the game, if the XP was kicked, and Richland was given possession, they would've scored and punched in the 2 for the win. BH's only shot of winning that game was to put it in a position where Richland couldn't control the ultimate outcome of OT.

  42. Boy, all the little league coaches are out in force on this thread. Do you guys not think they watched plenty of film and game planned for what Richland would do offensively? Do you not think the BH coaches built that game plan in such a way that if it was executed properly they believed they were in the best position to win? Varsity coaches rarely call a time out and tell their players to "crash every play" and "hit #1 in the mouth whether he has the ball or not". Those are things you say when you call a timeout during your 9:00 am game full of 4th graders on Saturday. The story of this game is the letdown after halftime and how momentum is a mother. It's hard to blow a huge lead like they did and be able to plug the holes in the boat in real time. The coaching staff did a excellent job all season and just got caught in the second half on Friday. Back to the drawing board for BH.

  45. And why are you concerned? Do you pay any BHISD taxes? 180K might be lottery money to you but BHISD can easily handle it. Absek, our AD, is presiding over BH success in almost every sport. Volleyball went 5 rounds deep. Basketball looks good. Baseball and softball can contend for another State Championship. BH Football was the last team in our district standing, and Absek is building lots of depth in the lower grades. 180K well spent! Better worry about PA. At least BH got a playoff win. Your coach has zero to show for whatever amount you paid him. LOL.

  48. If Faircloth was still at PNG and Joseph was in Nederland, the Bulldogs would be playing Rouse tonight. I said what I said. Coaching is everything at this level.

  49. Can anyone reasonably doubt that if Nederland had PNG's coaching staff that Nederland would look DRAMATICALLY different?!
    1 point
  50. Badabing, anyone who has watched PNGs size difference the last couple of years and still says the kids are the same, is blind or stupid. Ned has had superior lines in the past when PNG has not, this is high school, you don’t recruit size. You can improve strength which Ned needs to focus on, but PNG owns the line against most 5As in the state right now
