  1. Yes they had good players, but their success this year was a product of that class running Chad Taylor's offense. If Barrier coach and Barrier son had stayed at Hardin, this team would've been in a battle for a playoff spot in their district, not a battle for a potential state championship.
  2. Hardin had success because they were big up front, ran a wing T, and ran the fire out of the clock. If you truly think they had the horses to run a wide-open offense and sling it around like Barrier did at BH, then I am not sure this conversation is worth continuing to have.
  3. This is an ignorant take. Do you think Barrier would've had the individual success he has had if he had been playing in Chad Taylors offense? On the flip side, do you think Hardin would've had the team success they had this past year had they stayed in Barrier's offense? On another note, Woodville is a dumpster fire. Two years removed from a state championship appearance, and now staring down the barrel of low level mediocrity for the foreseeable future, all because daddies can't keep their mouth shut. Great job guys!
  4. My apologies. I totally misunderstood your original post on the topic. That's on me.
  5. Damn, coming on kind of strong. Nunan was a hell of a lineman at Hardin and I will root for him at the next level, but there is no denying who was the heart and soul of that Hardin team last year. Jones was a leader on both sides of the ball, was a hell of a good football player, and probably gave his OL and DL all the credit for his achievements. No need to come on the back end and diminish his accomplishments just because your son/cousin/brother/friend's name wasn't printed in the headlines.
  6. Where did Babin move to?
  7. The loss of Trevor Jones will be the issue. Best player, both sides of the ball, man amongst boys, leadership. Somebody has to fill that void.
  8. The Hardin QB transferred?
  9. Gotta ask, but mean no disrespect, why would a high caliber candidate be interested in the Tarkington job? Seems more likely to be a spot for someone needing a chance.
  10. You often miss the forest for the trees. Not a soul on earth is going to come into Tarkington and make them an above .500 team right now. The point I'm making is, at least Howard loved it there and wanted to keep investing in the kids. People with champagne dreams that maintain a Natural Light budget will run a guy like off, hire the next Johnny Come Lately, who is also unsuccessful, and do that again and again and again. In the meantime, the program dwindles to nothing because there is no continuity or relationship between the HC and the kids to make them even want to play football in that town anymore. A few cycles of that and you are DOA. Tarkington is nearing DOA.
  11. Exactly. He was good at Tarkingon considering the situation. No clue why people were so interested in making a change at the time.
  12. I wonder what Stan Howard is up to?
  13. Congrats Jasper and congrats to Coach Foreman. I have been hoping he could work his way back into SETX eventually, so I am happy to hear this.
  14. I have seen with my own eyes, entire wings of new campuses vacant during the school year but built anyway in anticipation of growth. They do that to avoid overcrowding. School grows, open the new wings. Incredible foresight and planning.
  15. My understanding is that bond you speak of was posted and passed to avoid some kind of robin hood taxes the district would've had to pay otherwise. Now, don't quote me on that, but I remember reading about it in the school's social media announcement of the bond being put up, and the guys at work talking about it. Someone more versed on school finance may be able to speak more intelligently on it.
