  1. The most common one I see is comparing Trump to Hitler (i.e., one of the worst human beings to ever walk the earth). Likewise, I remember seeing all kinds of posts, emails, etc. opining that Obama might be the anti-Christ when he was in office (hard to get worse than Hitler but this one certainly is). When a crazy person hears this craziness, it is not a leap for them to believe they are playing hero by ridding the earth of Hitler incarnate or the anti-Christ, etc. I would guess this is what people are talking about extreme rhetoric. At some point, words matter and people need to really be responsible when speaking or, as is often the case with social media, sharing. And both of these old guys running aren’t doing the best job of leading by example either.

  2. I know I’ll get blasted for saying this, but the finger-pointing is what escalates this and these types of events. People feel they can ONLY be on one side and the “other” side is to be hated. This is THE United States of America. Let’s come together, pray for this man and pray for OUR country. See through the smoke screens, wade through disinformation and let’s be Americans and fight against tyranny, socialism, Marxism and things contrary to our independence. Okay, I’m stepping off my soapbox.

  3. Can you imagine what other presidents/ leaders around the globe think about America now? The democrats shouldn’t just find a replacement for 2024 election they need a replacement now. It can’t be spin another way Biden is not fit for the White House and if I was forced to vote between the two I’m voting trump easily.( and I was never trump 24hrs ago). I’m also young, black and left leaning………. I’ll vote trump

  5. This is a reflection of the setx political board and US politics as we clearly want it republicans/ democrats are the devil who want to take away your freedom and slowly kill off your family that’s exactly how both sides describe the other. If you honestly believe that stupid tired dangerous narrative. Then why not kill the opposition before they kill you. This is the political atmosphere for many. Many wish Biden/trump dead or any d/r dead because they don’t just hold different views on how to make America great they’re purposely trying to destroy America. What is any true American to do about that? What difference it makes if this wacko was republican or democrat. Did it matter what party John Wilkes booth or Lee Harvey was affiliated with? Most Americans this age choose to be stupid choose to believe that it’s Republican vs democrats. And this what we get a nation full of idiots. And it seems we beyond repair. We was smaller than an inch away from total chaos to a civil war. Do you love your country enough to tone down the rhetoric? Of course not.

  7. BC will NOT be running the slot t. The new OC that was brought in was the OC at Lumberton last year and they were as spread as spread could be. Honestly, I can see BC being a dark horse surprise in that district. They should at least be able to compete with anyone in that district. Dave Campbell has them finishing 6th. I can see them make things interesting vying for that 4th playoff spot when it is all said and done.

  8. Why I can’t lie to y’all, this is Coach Bear and I started this topic. South of New Orleans working here after 40 years of coaching piss cause I hadn’t got my Texas Football yet. But I saw Dave Tepper delivered to y’all. Great job. I got that beat this morning, after doing my morning bus run at the construction job here in Port Sulphur Louisiana. I drove up to my travel trailer. There is a limo, and guess who gets out Roger Staubach and Earl Campbell and Dhat Nguyen, followed by my teammatesin the 1979 THSCA all-Star game in Fort Worth, Erik Dickerson and Craig James, then it’s kind of like clowns coming out of a car, 2211 for offense and 11 for Defense Victoria’s Secret models came out and finally they presented me my Texas Football magazine. Then the heavens opened up and the Angels sing hallelujah I was going to attach a picture that I took sitting on my toilet reading Texas Football but it said the file was too big, I understand that because I am Ukrainian and you know the saying once you go Ukrainian the love connection makes you insane again. Just saying. — Seriously, Football right around the corner and I’m excited

  9. Trump was indicted for his activities on January 6. He appealed the indictment to the District Court (trial court) and the way I read it, they pretty much said he has no immunity, period. So he appealed to the Circuit Court which is not a trial court, but is a constitutional court one step below the US Supreme Court. Both the District Court and the Circuit Court denied even reviewing the case. I believe they simply said that a former president has no such immunity. The US Supreme Court then took up the case on a constitutional basis. Remember at this point there has been no trial so no facts of the case have come out. It has been only appeals on the constitutionality of immunity. The Supreme Court ruling today said that the president has absolute immunity for constitutional authority (conclusive and preclusive). What that means to me is, if it’s something the Constitution gives him the authority to do, he absolutely cannot have charges filed against him. An easy example that I can think of is the Constitution makes him the commander-in-chief of the military. So if a president authorizes the military to do something such as Reagan authorizing the bombing of Libya in retaliation for terrorist attacks, the president cannot be sued or held to criminal charges because some civilians in Libya got killed. That is his authority as commander-in-chief and protection of the country. The Supreme Court then ruled that the president has presumed official acts immunity. A presumption under law in a case such as this means that it is assumed that the person accused, such as a president, is not guilty. The presumption is that he followed the law. The presumption does allow however for the prosecution to try and prove by a preponderance of the evidence that the presumption does not exist. The person accused does not have to prove anything. The president does not have to prove that he had immunity. The prosecution has to prove that more likely yes than no that he didn’t have immunity. So technically there’s an opening to prosecute but you start out with the presumption that the person accused is not guilty with nothing to prove. As an example, the president has wide authority in many areas including issuing some executive orders. Those are authorities as official acts. If the president was to do something like order the unjustified jailing of a political opponent in an upcoming election and order the opponent held in Gitmo to keep from campaigning, that would not be included under an official act immunity. So it is possible to overcome the presumption of immunity but it will take quite a bit of work. The president has no immunity whatsoever that is outside of constitutional authority or an official act. As an example of the president gets drunk and manages to sneak past his Secret Service bodyguard. He gets in the car and drives DWI and kills someone. That is not covered under an official act so he could be held accountable for a homicide. So…. For constitutional authorities, the president has absolute immunity. For an official act, he has presumed immunity. Anything outside of a constitutional or official act, such as driving DWI, has no immunity. In this ruling the Supreme Court vacated the indictment because the District Court, and the Circuit Court did not even consider immunity. The Supreme Court did not clear Trump because at this point they have not even heard the evidence. All they issued was a constitutional ruling that the lower courts have to at least consider immunity under the rule that they just established. Therefore the case goes back to the prosecution to bring a case at the trial court level and try to prove that whatever Trump is accused of, it was not an official act. Certainly the DOJ could read this Supreme Court ruling and drop the case, saying that they cannot overcome immunity. I’m not going to hold my breath, waiting for the DOJ to come to that conclusion. Simply disagreeing with a president actions does not disprove immunity. I disagreed with some of the things that Biden did such as ordering vaccines for some workers. Some of that was appealed and the courts threw out some of those mandates, especially under OSHSA. I don’t think Biden could be prosecuted however for issuing an executive order to one of his federal agencies because that is probably covered under an official act immunity. Not liking it does not automatically qualified as a crime. Therefore…. Can the DOJ try to again get an indictment against Trump and try to prove in court that he is not covered by one of the immunities listed? Yes. The Supreme Court has stated that under their ruling absolute immunity must be taken into consideration for a constitutional act and presumed immunity must be taken into consideration for an official act. Let’s just say that the DOJ pushed this case again and convince the trial court and the appeals court that Trump has no immunity and they get a criminal conviction. At their discretion, the Supreme Court can take this case up again since the trial would have been held and the Supreme Court could see how the lower courts came to their conclusion. The Supreme Court could agree that with the lower courts that there was no immunity and a conviction stands or they could say, y'all weren't paying attention to our ruling and they can throw the whole case out. If you don’t want to read all of that…… To date the ruling is, yes a former president has immunity from what he did in office and by law that must be taken into consideration under the rules that the Supreme Court just set. The rest will play out in the future.

  11. That was certainly the spin from MSNBC and CNN. I watched both after the debate. Biden looked terrible…. it was a poor performance… BUT he hit hard with facts … blah blah. So apparently they believe (as MSNBC and CNN said), Biden hit them with facts! Really, like Biden closed the border? Does anyone believe the border was ever secured under Biden? Or perhaps when Biden said in the debate, I am the only president in this century to not have troops dying anywhere in the world. Hmm… like maybe the ones killed during the disastrous quick abandonment of Afghanistan where 13 soldiers, Marines and sailors were killed? There were more than 20 others killed including in a recent drone attack. I wonder what the families of over 30 service men and women think about Biden saying that they weren’t killed with several from his pullout orders? Biden, the Border Patrol union supported me! No, they didn’t and went on the television after the debate to dispute the claim Biden, Black unemployment is the lowest it’s been in a long time. No, it’s currently at 6.1%. It was 5.6% under Trump in May 2020 before Covid put a substantial percentage of people out of work. In the middle of 2019 under Trump it was at 5.5% for Blacks in total and Black females at 4.4%. Trump has always been an exaggerator and blow hard narcissist and everything he did was always “the best”. To suggest however that Trump’s comments were lies and ignore the lies by Biden is silly.

I was reading on CNN just now that… Trump claims this is political attacks but can’t produce evidence…. If the DOJ is making that many errors against average citizens, there are some big problems in the DOJ.

  15. I guess that’s the problem I have with Trump. We all love a fighter-it’s in our culture. Dude just doesn’t know how to turn it off. He fights with EVERYBODY, and at the end of the day it’s a net negative. Foreigners, the media, democrats, republicans, his own employees. He literally fights with everybody, and that makes him useless.

  16. I can’t get away from something being off either. Bullets isn’t wrong about the polling numbers. Elections are won in the middle and the only person worse with the middle right now than Trump is Biden. Biden won’t voluntarily step aside despite the Dems trying to push him aside. You’re telling me a building across from the staging area wasn’t secured and a guy crawling around on a roof visible from the ground was missed by trained rooftop snipers? I’m about the furthest thing from a conspiracy theorist because the simplest explanation is often the correct one. But some young nut job pulling this off isn’t the simplest one here imo. Something stinks to high heaven.

  18. A couple of questions: 1) Why the need to go “outside”? A good department is one that raises and encourages those with leadership/management capabilities. BPD routinely sends people to LEMIT/LCC (Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas / Leadership Command College, SPI (Southern Police Institute), and the FBI/NA (National Academy). Each of these exposes leaders to current law enforcement trends and practices. 2) BPD needs a change - why? The department serves the needs of the community, works to be involved in the community and is transparent during officer-involved incidents. 3) Beaumont has a high crime rate, therefore we need a change. BPD successfully works these scenes and has a higher than average clearance rate. The department does it’s job, and is constantly working to address high crime areas and community concerns. It is a slap in the face to every member of the department to look outside and promote the idea that a “fresh” perspective is needed. The 260 sworn officers of BPD dedicate themselves to the safety of the citizens, whether that be emergency operations, routine patrol or specialized units (traffic, SWAT, etc). Deputy Chief Plunkett is ready, capable and eager to lead the department into the future. I know him and I trust him to lead my two sons and brother (who are members of the department). I retired from BPD, and my father worked there. I had a great-grandfather who was killed in the line of duty as a Beaumont officer in 1925. I know the department and still work daily as a state officer assigned to a federal task force that works hand in hand with BPD. I was raised in Beaumont and know how hard those guys work and care about the city of Beaumont.

  19. @bullets13 I met the kid that was murdered. His mother is in a acoustic duet called Thunderbird Rose. He would come out with them occasionally when they would perform. He seemed like a really nice kid. This is the second "Mom" I know personally in the local music scene that has lost a child. I learned through the first one, even if you have kids, you still can't imagine the level of pain/guilt/anger/depression losing one of your kids will cause. I know she could use some prayers right now.

    2024 Astros

After starting off the season 7-19, Astros have gone 36-22 since. Had the best record in baseball for the month of June. Over a month ago Houston was 8th in the AL in runs scored, 13th in runs allowed. Now the Astros are 6th in runs scored and 7th in runs allowed. Offense has been consistent but the pitching has definitely improved. Also, Houston leads all of MLB in team batting average (.265) and have the fewest team strikeouts (575) in all of MLB. Next lowest is Padres with 594. Astros were at one point the worst team in baseball with blown save opps. At one point Houston had blown 10 saves in 18 opportunities. Now that stat is at 18 saves in 31 opps. So they have converted on 10 of last 13 save opportunities. Those blown save opps earlier in season could have Houston in 1st place right now. The current projections (based on remaining schedules and current trends) has Houston winning division with 89 wins. Seattle predicted to finish with 87 wins. Rangers predicted to finish with 79 wins.

I have simply said that is was not an insurrection headed up by Trump, which is 100% true. Sadly, the democrats have managed to dupe their constituents into believing it was, which is not very difficult.

Football is pretty ramping around here too just like it was in my 40 years of coaching in Southeast Texas but I am waiting on my Texas Football magazine. Does anyone know when the early subscribers will get them in the mail? I’ll plan on watching some Louisiana football this fall as I work seven days a week, and then I’ll watch it on national Federation of high school all the Southeast Texas football. I always cheer for everything, Texas, Louisiana because I’m the crazy guy. I’m a UT graduate my son graduate from A&M and I had four players play at LSU in the 90s. I like the Texans and the Saints and I am a Cowboys fan since the mid 60’s even though it ain’t looking good with Jerry doing Jerry. 34. Yes. Just like G H W Bush said that Reagan was preaching voodoo economics. Then he became Reagan’s vice president and went on to become the president. As president he mostly stuck with what he had earlier called voodoo economics. He reneged on a campaign promise however and raised the top tax rate from 28% to 31%. It cost him the election with Bill Clinton. The idea that, he said something bad about him 8 years ago is ridiculous. Not 8 years earlier but in the same election season, Kamala Harris called Joe Biden out for dealing with two segregationist legislators and that his actions have been “hurtful” to minority communities. Let’s see, Vance makes a remark 8 years earlier yet is picked as the VP candidate. Harris makes a remark that is essentially an accusation of racism against Biden a couple of months earlier yet is picked as the VP candidate. Things that make you go hmmmmm…..

[Hidden Content] From the article: A Tennessee woman who was fired from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) for refusing to comply with its COVID-19 vaccine requirement for employees has received a settlement worth nearly $700,000. A federal jury found that Tanja Benton "proved by a preponderance of the evidence" that her decision to refuse the vaccine was based on a "sincerely held religious belief," according to the settlement obtained by WTVC. For a total of over $687,000, the jury awarded Benton more than $177,000 in back pay, $10,000 in compensatory damages and $500,000 in punitive damages. Sad that she had to even prove what her reasoning was.

  43. Regulations? Probably. Fees? Probably not. If Congress enacted a fee or if they gave an agency that authority to regulate a fee, it would probably be lawful. It is like if Texas passed a law (which I think they did) that said the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has the authority to set the length and possession limits on fish, then they can do so because the legislature gave them that specific authority. If they were not given the specific authority, it would be unlawful. In this case a federal law was passed that the inspectors had to be on the fishing boats to regulate the commercial fishing catch. The law did not say who would pay for the federal inspectors to ride on the boats. They were federal employee so you would assume the federal government would pay their salary like any employer. The federal agency controlling fishing however, decided to make the commercial fishing fleet pay the salaries of the federal agents. Nothing in the law said that and nothing in the law gave the agency the authority to force a salary on a private company. Under the Chevron case from 1984, the Supreme Court (stupidly in my opinion) ruled that if there was any ambiguity in the law, a federal agency could basically fill in the blanks. Now they have to use the rule of lenity or strict construction. If a law is ambiguous or not clear, the courts should rule in favor of the person accused. The federal agency can’t make up their own opinion as law.
