I like Scott Loar, who is the commentator that Jasper brought in most of the time, but he goes over the top even for a homer. Ron Vickers has gotten better doing play-by-play, but he struggles a bit with what's happening at times. It's not a shot at either of them, but just an objective observation. We were spoiled by one of the best local announcers around for 40 years. He's a hard act to follow. I don't know who does Silsbee's games now, but Mike was exceptional as was Gary Stelly in Orange. I'm an audiophile, so I listen to more games than I watch. We had three really good ones in SETX for a long time.

Probably top 10 there. Like you said the 2019 team just didn't feel right, but I think our view of Jesuit was a little jaded with just how much we dominated them in the past. Emmitt Smith's kid was legit and he hadn't been healthy at all that season. Then Kaden went down injured. Was just the perfect recipe for a defeat. At the end of the day, it came down to a kicker again lol. We go to OT if not for that one missed PAT in the 2nd Q.

I saw a post this weekend, on another site, that Evadale doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs. WHY NOT? We had goals set for this year, like every year. We wanted to win the River Bowl, win Homecoming, win the District Championship. God had other plans for us. These young men fought through many adverse circumstances. The most recent being an outbreak of the flu, which left us with only 18 for the Lovelady game. Did they quit? We know the answer is No, they did not. So now, we have achieved a team goal. WE ARE A PLAYOFF TEAM and we are 1 of only 64 teams left in our division. We may lose, but we are deserving of the chance to compete.

Longview's defense has surrendered a total of 70 points all season, 8 total in the second half (unfortunate fumble by our second team against North Mesquite with 3 minutes to go to make that doubled for the season). Crosby is back healthy and ready to go. Interested to see how the 3+ hour drive will impact the Cougars, not to mention playing in Lobo Stadium for the first time. Lobos haven't lost a home playoff game since 1984. The closest game since then was Beaumont West Brook back in 2017, a 3 score advantage. Magnolia game last season ended 21 points as well, but that game was completely dominated by Longview outside of about a 4 minute stretch to end the half. Will be interested to see what Crosby can bring that they think can attack against us. Taylor Tatum will get his yards. Jalen Hale will get his yards. I don't think the Coogs have the weapons to keep up with us to be honest, but stranger things have happened I guess. Lobo defense has allowed a total of 565 rushing yards this season, so feel like Crosby's only real plan would be to throw the ball. Excited to see a new team in person. Hope y'all bring some type of crowd.

Just telling you Crosby folks, if you have never played in Longview, your in for a Lobo experience. Everything is Lobo there. The wolf calls and the Longview fans and band on the visitor side. Your down 14 before you get off the bus. The indoctrination is loud and long. Few visitors ever leave Lobo Country with a victory, and if by miracle it should occur, it will be a close nail biter because Longview never goes down easy. My prediction is Longview 56 Crosby 13. Longview is better than anyone you have seen this year or last year. Mark my words.

We were not favored to beat foster nor Hightower. You can tell when someone doesn't know regional football and matchups. Hightower made it to the regional finals both years. So did foster but I won't let facts and research get in the way of a hot take

Here is the poop speaking about the reality of politics vs being right. Everyone can see that Fetterman isn’t capable of effectively carrying out his job as a senator. Everyone can also see the as far as intellectual ability, there is no contest between the two candidates. If anyone was picking a person to run a company that you were starting, you would pick Oz if those were the options. However….. Does any of that matter? Under our legislative system we have two houses (Senate and House of Representatives) which function independently. Both are required to agree word for word on any new law. Control of either house is determined by who controls the majority of seats. It doesn’t matter who has a more rational argument or who the public supports at any given moment or issue. For example on Obamacare the clear majority of the public did not support it. What matters legally is who controls each house because legislation cannot come up for a vote without the majority party allowing it. The Democrats held power in both houses which allowed a very unpopular law and economically damaging to a majority of people to be passed into law. Control of each house was the important point, not the rationale of the law. Had the Republicans controlled either house, Obamacare would not be the law today. The public punished the Democrats in the midterms with a crushing defeat. BUT….. the public can’t repeat bad laws, only politicians. The Senate gained 6 Republican seats and the House gained 63 in a huge swing of power. It effectively ended any Democrat control over any new law for the last 6 years of Obama’s presidency. Obamacare made him a lame duck president for the remaining 6 years that he was in office. Why does that example matter? Because right now there is a 50/50 split in the Senate with Cackle Harris being the tie breaker for the Democrats. The vice president only gets to vote in a tie. That means if the Republicans gain 1 seat, the Democrats lose the Senate. Does either party care how they maintain control? The Democrats might have an incapable person intellectually in Fetterman but at this point all they want him to do is vote Yea when they ask. It still could potentially keep the Senate in Democratic control. Also, if Fetterman wins, he can assume office and resign. It goes by Pennsylvania state law on how to replace him and that is likely having the governor (currently a Democrat) replace him for the remainder of his term. So Fetterman might assume office for one day and help keep the Senate under Democratic control. So….. Fetterman could be the worst candidate ever and 100% of Democratic voters could agree but that has nothing to do with controlling the Senate. They simply want to maintain the seat with anyone with a D beside his name. The Republicans at times (or most of the time) argue that they aren’t voting for that Republican candidate because he is a RINO!!! That is stupid because he still has an R by his name and by the rules, might keep the Republicans in control of either house. So why would the hard core Democrats vote for Fetterman even if they agree that he would be a horrible choice? Because they aren’t voting for Fetterman but the D beside his name. The Republicans are hoping that enough independents move to the conservative side of the aisle for this election. Sling Blade, Fetterman or Mickey Mouse? Does it really matter???

I noticed that the Booker T Washington Eagles are 9-0 including wins over Wharton and 6A Pasadena. They play Scarborough today so it's easy to assume they will go 10-0 and have a perfect regular season. I don't know how deep they will go in the 4A playoffs, but I am always happy to see HISD kids succeeding when they have a lot stacked against them off the field.

It always happens. Some districts are weak and quickly get exposed. Then there are a few upsets. I dont know the percent and it varies each year but typically 4's go away pretty quick.

I think it’s time we include the aggy. #1 recruiting class in our prayers as they flock to the portal and try to make a better decision the second time around. After talking to an initial aggy commit who wisely flipped and played an amazing game last night against Bama, I can tell you he is elated with his decision. When he decommitted last year, he told us sometimes you just change your mind. I told him changing your mind is a woman’s and a 5 star’s prerogative.

The thing about politics is, regardless of who wins the debate, most people are going to vote for their side. That’s why fetterman, who currently has the cognitive ability of a potato, is still neck in neck with Dr. Oz.

Yep. The Bears can compete and with multiple players returning from sickness/injury they'll have all the tools. We'll find out on Friday if they can use them against a good ball club. For Christ's sake run the football, hang onto it and don't over think things. If something is working, come back to it.

Looking at the video between the 2:30 and 2:35 marks (just the minutes and seconds) that could very well be a catch. Unfortunately a Silsbee players head crossed in front of the camera angle at the critical time to tell for real so you have to go with what the Back Judge calls unless the Side Judges or Referee over turns it. As far as that BJ goes I know for a fact he does his absolute best every game whether it be Jr. High, High School or College. None of these refs are perfect but they at least give their time to go out and make sure your kids are playing in a safe manner and folowing the rules. If you are one of the people who think thye can dfo better than by all means join the football officials association and start giving your time. The pay isn't the best but it does pay.

Mike and Scroggins were solid for sure. With more and more outlets steaming games, radio is becoming obsolete.

Allen 'grew' into being the biggest school in the state. Beaumont's history of forced bussing, etc won't allow for that. Allen was a more organic transition

It's horrible that the refs are the story. CC could've handled it differently. CT would've handled it differently too. I mean they might not have finished the game if it's as bad as they say. What I can see is a call made by someone not in the position to see the catch. Then confusion by the others, with an eventual signal TD. Can't change that. Gotta play perfect from here like CC also said. And hope to meet em again. That rematch would be a great game. Hope they play locally if happens. Also I can understand CC frustrations. This is his Alma mater, his program, his first year in a renewed rivalry. It's all good. It shows his passion and that his heart is in the right place. Back home where he belongs. Embraced by the community. Great job Jasper ISD. I'm still jealous.

The next school board meeting is November 14th at 6pm I've heard several people want to speak to the school board about the state of the football program...IMO and I'm in the minority here but I think Barrow should be given another year with the understanding that an offensive coordinator should be hired our offense was Bobby August bad this year

Watson is fine. He had a 91 yard td run the 2nd play of the Pirates 1st drive. Heard he has a little ankle thing going on so took him out to rest for next week....he looked just fine on his 91 yard run. Overall we look to be pretty healthy.

I’ve never, for anything, used “Pay For View” to watch ANY event. For what you suggested, heck yes, I’d pay to see that. No doubt in my mind that would exceed Jeff Foxworthy & Bill Engvall. Bring it.
