I agree with this assessment. Particularly the part in bold. IMO, this is one of worst skill level teams Silsbee has put on the floor in quite some time. They are not a good shooting team, very very poor passing team. Combine those two things and you get poor offensive output. It's mostly the reason why you see 40-50 point scoring for the Tigers. Got nothing to do with the "run and gun". Just don't have the horses to run that kind of offense. What the Tigers do have is effort. That has really improved over these 10 games. They work hard defensively and rebound the ball very well. They get out of position sometimes defensively but that's not because of lack of effort. It's lack of experience. Silsbee has played some very tough competition in these 10 games. Lot's of close games that with a few better plays here and there could have resulted in a couple more wins. I too agree that Tiger Nation needs to show some patience with Coach Brown and the program. It's very obvious that the talent level is much lower than it has been over the last several years. Give him a chance to weather the storm. I think Silsbee will be right in the mix for the district title this year just like they always have been.

Bryan didn’t miss a midrange jumper that whole game! It was tight the entire game too! Great matchup with that 6A team! They were also a good free throw shooting team and super athletic. BC has improved at the line throughout the season. Only going to get better! They seem to be fixing the little mistakes made earlier on. Small defensive mistakes keep catching them. Overall, very proud of those boys. They held their own against those big schools. Great shooting, finishing and teamwork by Denison and Bush. Silveira had an incredible game against Montgomery. Mungy was just Mungy…can’t say enough there. Bush had seven 3s in the championship and finished the weekend averaging 20.2ppg. Congrats to Bush and Mungy on All-Tournament Team.

For all the people that hate on NS & think they only win cause of talent, well this is one of the least talented teams in 30+ years at Da Sho and they still made it to the state championship game!

The smart play is certainly picking the Bulldogs. WOS is certainly the underdog, but the game is played on the field and something tells me these kids don't really care what the prognosticators are saying. They've been underdogs since this derby started.

Don't say too much about down years and bad teams as Goodrich even won a game against Groveton this weekend. It is hard tho to see Silsbee down so much.

WOS is a different team since that game.

Silsbee has some good kids coming just a down year for them..they have a good coaching staff, you need some basketball talent to win games just can’t have athletes out there playing the game for you but I still feel they are a playoff team with the athletes they have but it’s going to be a year they haven’t had in a long time. Silsbee needs to be patient with the process and realize they don’t have any div 1 basketball players out there like the community is use to but give it couple more years and they will have that again. We live in a time where to many kids are specializing in one sport and to worried about getting jobs and etc you could have more athletes playing and now you’re seeing teams who usually don’t struggle are struggling now, it’s the Nature of the beast for sports these days. Be patient tiger fans

Put it to you this way: There's a lot of really good athletes on this Silsbee team. How many are good basketball players is a different story. Hopefully these good athletes can be molded into decent b-ball players by the time district starts. It's still really early and we just don't have the kids we've had over the past decade or so right now. As much as people don't want to hear this, it's going to take a few years to see if things work out. The community needs to be patient. Help will be on the way, but those kids who'll be freshmen next season will need a year's worth of experience and physical growth under their belt before they're really ready. That means it'll likely be 2027 before we see if Silsbee can get back to where they're used to being. I guess if you want some signs of a bright spot so far this year, they competed well with Humble (who somehow only lost to West Brook by 2 points) and Stafford, while not nearly as good as last year, still came in as a ranked team. They just need to start winning some of these close games.

I’ve been seeing a lot of WOS disrespect lately. I get it — Carthage has been the standard in 4A for the last decade — but WOS is no slouch. After taking a deeper look at Carthage and their schedule, I honestly believe this is a winnable game for us. To me, Carthage’s schedule looks a little inflated and it just feels top-heavy, while WOS seems to have played a much tougher overall slate this year and their district is overall better top to bottom. Don’t get me wrong, Carthage is definitely a tough out, and their history and pedigree speak for themselves. I just feel that WOS may be the more battle-tested team. WOS opponents this season combined for a 109–65 record (62.6% win rate). Carthage’s opponents combined for a 91–74 record (55.2% win rate). WOS has faced tougher teams, more consistently week-to-week and shown the ability to win close, physical games. Carthage is elite — no doubt — but they’re not unbeatable. If we limit mistakes, force a couple of takeaways, and avoid giving up big plays, I really think we can bring the title home this year.

The Mustangs have a good physical team and a lot of speed, but that will not be enough. Carthage's defense is playing lights out and is peaking at the right time. We all know defense wins the big game. Give me Carthage by 14 to 21. Go Dawgs!

Friend, those of us who know Mustang Nation in and out know how some in the community were feeling about the loses the Mustangs had for several years. That was then and this is now. Outsiders are looking for BS to start and hope others will join in. This week we focus on The Kids who have done their part along with our coaches in having a very successful season gain. If we continue to let the others bring negative thoughts towards us, then it will trickle down to the team. We know who we are, and as Flo the old girl form Mel's diner would say" Let them all kiss all our grits" the entire bowl. 99 I'm trying not to get you to edit me but it's getting hard Imma keep it cute LOL.

I believe this is the season needed to push this very talented program over the edge. PAM now knows they can beat anyone anytime. I look for big things out of the Titans in the future. No one said they were incompetent or not smart..what’s been said is he/they dropped the program on its head,he did and that’s fact..has since last season been doing a better job and putting it back together.The program was built,he thought he could run it anyway you want and learned he couldn’t. As far as talent just stop it because these are the same kids who have been through the little Mustangs system and prepared to be here as everyone before them,granted theres not a Jefferson every year,he’s different no doubt about it.

Yes, WOS coaches did not become "competent" or "smart", "all of a sudden". The program has been rounded into form with the same quality coaching that has been present and in practice since Day 1.

Thank you all for the entertaining few months. Thank you PA Titans and coaches. I look forward to seeing how each young man takes this entire experience and transition into real life. You may not have reached the ultimate goal on the field, but you most certainly can reach your ultimate goal in life!

Some good points in this post same as last week they are NOT currently doing the same things they have since day 1.. I feet you know that and just want to stir something up,stop spreading lies..as far as this game,we all know it’s an uphill battle but so were the last several..supposing.Go Stangs!

I really hope Randle sends SOC and their coach packing. I honestly feel bad for their kids. Football should be a place to learn discipline. Have some role models. Their coach is 3/4 of the way across the field trying to fight other coaches and players. The UIL is truly cowards.

Congratulations to Coach HH and the entire staff for representing SETX and 9-4AD2. Coaches have stuck to their process and now that they have better talent they have achieved higher results. Coaches have produced high level game plans and made strategic in game adjustments as they have since they took over at WOS. Now, all roads lead to Carthage who have a better player at nearly every position other than MLB and possibly a DL spot. Friday's outcome will not be the result of incompetent coaching, and it will most definitely not be because WOS ran a "50 defense" instead of a "50 defense". Regardless of the final result Coaches and WOS players have done a great job and even more so given the poison from segments of the fan base.
