  1. HF is very good in the skill positions. QB, RB and WR are all very solid. QB is much more mobile than the QB of the last 2 years. He can hurt you with his legs as much as with his arm. But, sometimes his legs get him in trouble. Took some big losses trying to avoid pressure instead of throwing it away. That was some inexperience showing thinking he can always make a play. RB are solid. They have their own Swiss Army knife in Pirtle. He lined up as RB, WR and sometimes as QB in Wildcat. He is their ultimate weapon. WR group is good. No real game breakers but very solid pass catchers. OL is definitely the weakness of the offense. Hitchcock got plenty of pressure and actually did a good job against the run other than a few blown assignments and QB scrambles. All in all, HF offense is very potent. Defensively, HF is good in the secondary but the front 7 needs improving. Got a little pressure on the QB but Hitchcock OL is not good. Hitchcock never really tried to run consistently to see how well HF was against the run. I can see a team with a good OL being able to run the ball against HF with success. Secondary is solid. Pretty much the same group at WR is what you have in secondary. Very good skill wise. HF is very well coached. They have those kids prepared. If OL improves and defensive front gets better, HF will definitely be in position to defend their district title.

This game is hard to gauge. PN-G has been anticipating this game since early Spring, and are dying to hand La Porte their first loss at new Bulldog Stadium. The Indians have shown solid play against a mediocre 6A Klein Oak, and an inferior Beaumont United. Micah Rhodes of Oak is overrated IMHO, and is a 5 star as much due to press & pedigree as his play on the field. Oak has only had 1 winning season (6-5) since 2020. BU is BU. Not much to say on that other than I hope their new staff can right the ship. Henry and Diaz have been solid runners for PN-G, and Bailey is looking like a lot more polished passer this year. The Indian's D is playing very well in limiting the running game, and Special Teams play looks to have improved. The Bulldogs have been inconsistent against two solid 6A PO teams in Deer Park and Kingwood. But, have found a way to win both games. Deer Park may be younger this year. But, the Border Battle is unpredictable at best every year, and the Deer showed--IMHO--more pure talent than they had last year. They also played #13 6A state ranked Woodlands to a closer than expected 30-20 loss. They have a very talented, young QB this year, and--as always--are big everywhere. They have had the misfortune of having to play NS first round almost every year for a decade or more, and that's a losing proposition for most. Kingwood is a legitimate 6A PO team. In any district other than 23-6A, they'd be fighting for the DC. As it is, they'll be fighting with CE King again for that 4th spot, and it should be another fantastic game. They made it to the Regional Finals last year only to lose to district mate Summer Creek again. Their QB is a solid passer, and they have some very good receivers. Of course, they have the #1 ranked OL in the country for the class of 2027. Defensively, they are very stout. They were able to shut LP down for the most part in the 2nd half by stacking all 11 within 6-7 yards of the LOS, and LP's passing game was out of sync on a lot of the small passes to the flats and intermediates. LP was able to go over the top for a couple big pass plays. One set up the winning TD drive. LP's Special Teams were anything but special, and almost cost them the win. But, to give credit to Kingwood, they have a player (Wehby) who is not only an outstanding receiver, he's also a fantastic return man. He's one to watch going forward as he already has 2 returns for TD's in 2 games. Both teams like to play a physical brand of football, control the clock, and minimize mistakes. Both teams are blessed with excellent coaching staffs, and solid players. I see this game as coming down to who can keep their D off the field the most, and play the cleanest. Any mistakes will be magnified. Unless something out of the ordinary happens, I see a lower scoring affair where every possession counts, and scores will be at a premium. PN-G will finally play a quality opponent, and LP will need to finally find consistency in all 3 phases of the game. I like LP's OL and DL. The LB's are fairly equal. So far, LP's secondary has been a pleasant surprise. So, I give them a slight edge. PN-G looks to have the edge on Special Teams. Both teams have experienced QB's who can be on or off. Both teams have solid running games. I look for LP to finally put it all together this week and play a complete game. They know the Indians are a quality program, and are state ranked again for a reason. They also know PN-G has been talking for a very long time about handing them their first loss at Bulldog. I'm going with LP by 4 at home in a lower scoring affair. Something along the lines of 28-24. Safe travels to the Indian fans, and let's hope for an injury free game.

  3. And we would've beaten Katy too afterwards. Lol. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Not kidding.

  4. Was the Warren game close? "Last year" Hardin beat Warren 27-6. "This year" Hardin beat Warren 48-0. Outscoring opponents 75-0 through 2 games, call it what you want.

  8. This game will be interesting. I would have made Jasper a significant favorite before the season but now, not so much. I'm going to take Lumberton in a very close one. 21-20

  10. Pirtle had 12 carries for 102 and three scores, 5 catches for 38 yds, 13 tackles (12 solo, 3 TFL), an INT, deflected another that was picked, and forced a fumble that was recovered for a touchdown. Swiss Army knife is a good description. If the WRS awards had a utility position he’d be tough to beat

NOTE: The parking lot for the strip center on the west side of the stadium is okay to park in, and is actually easier in/out—if you don’t mind the walk to the NE stadium entrance. Just DO NOT park between the blue water bottle outlet shed & the DQ. YOU WILL BE TOWED. Stay south of the blue shed.

Monday morning. You sure are excited for this one. 😆 Get here early. Parking is horrible. Construction. Good Tex-Mex is El Ranchero, El Toro, or Casa Anita’s. El Toro is actually the same family ownership as Gringo’s, Bullritos, Johnny Tamales, and Jimmy Changas. King’s BBQ has an excellent stuffed potato. Then, there’s a new wing place I haven’t tried yet right at the corner of the stadium parking lot & Fairmont Pkwy. Of course, one of the best DQ’s around is right across from the stadium. Been there since I was a kid in the 60’s I think. Don’t know about the concessions at Bulldog. Haven’t been to the stadium during a game yet. They used to be decent. Not sure if they still have Chick Fil A and turkey legs or not.

Clinton what? He said: "I did not have... (well you know) with that woman, Miss Lewinsky." Well -- the blue dress told the true story. So, yes, he lied. If it wasn't for the blue dress, he'll still be lying to this day! So, as I always say -- you can have your own opinions but you can't have your own facts!

  19. I’m telling you: Calling the defense the “blue link” (which, as far as I can tell, no one but administrators and game announcers use, because it sounds stupid) is bad juju. Ever since the name change, WOS hasn’t been the same.

  20. I got Hightower winning. Not giving a score, but i say 14+. We can't cover ANYBODY that actually have a qb. These guys gonna chirp and get in our heads and that leads to bone headed penalties. I don't think you gonna "out athlete" this week. Hightower can play on BOTH sides of the ball. After this game, i feel they will be ok till BH.

  31. Agreed. United’s defense looked good the first few drives they went out on the field. They just wore out quickly from being on the field too much. United turned the ball over to PN-G five times in the first half.

  34. So expecting to win doesn’t happen very often? Running the 2 min offense doesn’t either? It’s all about coaching. There’s before and after school and in the period at school. Ample amount of time… strictly on the coaching. The coaches did not prepare the kid or team.

  36. Besides scheming Memorial to make Tank King cover, there were many a defensive snap which King et al were looking for the signal/play so at each level there were mis-aligned. Luckily Tank didn't give up on the final play and the DC Private School cover boy was stopped short. Best QB Memorial will face not with just talent but being coached up by Micheal Bishop #iykyk

  39. I can remember a Silsbee QB mistakenly taking a knee instead of spiking the ball at WO-S that cost the Tigers a win. Silsbee had the ball at the Mustang 1 yard line with the clock winding down, score tied 7-7, and instead of spiking the ball, the young man took a knee and time expired due to Silsbee not having in timeouts left. WO-S ended up winning the game in OT, 14-7. That was in 2008. I know for a fact the Silsbee coaching staff was telling the QB to spike it. Was quite clear from our broadcast booth. Saw several giving the signal to do so. QB just got confused. It happens. I don't know that the QB was confused in this case but it's very possible. I just don't think you can automatically blame the coaches on that situation. Sounds like there are other things that cost WO-S this game, not just the kneel down.

Friendswood the week before may be better than K Park. They lost last week mainly because of turnovers against a very good team.
