everyone was kinda expecting this after Shelbyville beat San Augustine, this ends up being a game that is pointless for either team , so for WH it would have been another long drive to another slaughter house with a group of youngins that’s all been through the ringer all year , you only got two seniors on the team both are your rbs/mlbs So their basically both beat to a pulp and One of them been playing most the year with a serious knee injury. And as far as Shelbyville it’s a win either way but if they played they’d take a chance of getting someone hurt going into the playoffs. So with all that In consideration WH takes a knee With that being said hats off to All the WH players that’s gutted it out every game knowing what they were walking into and and having good sportsmanship and good attitudes week in and week out! And good luck to Shelbyville hopefully they can go make some noise With Timpson and Joaquin!!

Like i said, based on the facts of this case (as now verified by the young man’s father), the action taken by the DEC is reprehensible. I’ve seen it in the past too often. Men who say they got in a profession for the kids prove the opposite. Or at best prove they only got into it for “some” kids. Once residency is proven, that should be the end of the story. But it’s not because decisions are made “for athletic purposes.” Except not by the kid or his family, but by the school administrators who voted against him. That’s right. They, in effect, blackball a kid for their OWN school’s athletic purposes. Well done hypocrites. Well done.

I was asking why a Coach and a father give up his best player and from reading the earlier post I truly understand and goodluck but if nothing else I will be coming see this kid play.

Ok first off I can see where all these rumors are coming from now and why my son was denied. This absolutely disgusting what I'm reading. For the record my son was purely denied based on transfering for athletic purposes even though letters from myself, my wife, my wife, and his previous schools administrators stating why he left. My son is a 4.0 gpa honor society student who wanted to leave Tekoa because it is a STEM school and he wasn't interested in those fields of study like my other two children who also attended there, my oldest graduating with a scholarship from Motiva to attend Lamar. Jailan did not want to go to school for STEM and that is all Tekoa Academy offers. We do not have the same processes of other high schools as the schedules and curriculum is preset and students do not get to choose their classes or career paths. Jailan wanted to go where he had access to a guidance counselor that would introduce him to other academic options as like I said he's a true honor student! He wanted to be a high school that has school dances, home coming, and prom. He wanted the normal high school experience that my oldest son didnt care for. All this was presented to the DEC along with family history as my both my sons attend HF elementary and my wife and I worked for the transportation department. HF has graduated 3 of my nephews and a niece as recently as last year and currently has my great niece and nephew at the high school and their siblings at the middle school! My oldest son is the one of only two grandchild to NOT GRADUATE FROM HAMPSHIRE FANNETT as my other nephew graduated from George Ranch in Katy. We have live in Cheeks for 14 years, my family owns 5 acres out there that we all live on!!! Stop with the BS rumors and false narratives about my family and son. Huffman, Splendora, Livingston, and Shepherd all voted against my son HJ and Liberty voted in favor of him. It was a collaborate effort between these schools administrators I know it as we had all the proof and they ONLY HAD RUMORS. The papf nor our residency was questioned. I was simply asked about a dang FB post between and another parent about basketball and being asked where my son was going. That was Huffman's proof and was asked about my son playing on an AAU team that he's been on since 7th grade and trains out of HJ! This summer for the first time a HF player was on the team and I was questioned about that one player. Not that 6 players were from HJ and that they practice at HJ facilities or that Clay Davis Jr plays on that team. My son knows Clay Davis and the HJ staff and players just as if he played there. But we had already filed our paperwork for him to attend HF early summer so who he played with in July shouldnt have matter because he was already going to HF. I had made the decision for him to attend HF prior to his sophmore year, didnt move him last year because of his advance math class that I wanted him to take from my colleague and mentor at Tekoa. I am an educator first always! I teach math as well as my wife who teaches in BISD. We hold out children to a high academic standard as all 3 hold a 3.8 gpa or higher. Currently my daughter is a freshman at Tekoa and a freshman at Lamar State College taking 3 classes. Yeah my kids nice like that! So all this bull crap about basketball and athletics needs to stop now! My son works his butt off both in the classroom and on the court to be the best he can be. The notion that he is just some basketball athlete trying to get over or by is insulting to me and my family! We are definitely appealing this decision purely on the principle that I, my wife, my son, and my administration at Tekoa were flat out called liars and dishonest! They also called Dr. Augustine a liar who did a complete background search on my family and went by our home in Cheeks. We had all the documentation and presented it. They call us liars to our face! This will not go away or stand! I refuse to have my family called fraudulent and liars. The administration at Tekoa Academy are extremely upset that they were called liars! So for the little spies and agents that these coward schools have in these forums, RUN TELL THAT! Yes your district "leaders" ignored documents and facts and instead went along with rumors and "heard through the grapevine" news. And yes these people actually used that terminology when asking me questions. They "heard through the grapevine" so their entire case was based on rumors and we had facts!!!! I'm assuming this little forum is part of their "grapevine" as I'm reading some of the same crap that was presented to me. Once again we are from Cheeks, I work at Tekoa Academy, my children attend Tekoa, my son wanted to go to HF to look at other programs so my wife and I let him period!! They are attempting to rob my son of his junior year of varsity basketball behind personal feelings and stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with my son. My son has nothing to do with the other players there from last year or how they got there. HF is his home school, its were his family has recently been graduating from and where his cousins are currently at! Now once again GO RUN TELL THAT!!!!!

After watching the film on this game, I think I figured out what Center's problem was in this game. It was that Jasper team. If not for them, Center would have easily won this game. lol.

Well this could be our last game of the season so I guess I’ll spell it out for these guys. #1 should be getting 10 touches a game out of the backfield, #12 should be getting 3 targets a game. #11 and #26 should be splitting time in the backfield. #43 and #55 should be on the line in short yardage situations. These are all defensive players and that’s why Vidor’s offense is not very good this year.

Well it has come down to this, winner take all for a playoff spot. I didn’t think either team would be in this situation, for different reasons but here we are. Vidor or Lumberton to represent our lowly district, as a 3 or 4 seed to face a tough Lindale or Kilgore team in the first round. Who ya got? I think the Pirates have the bigger, better athletes but Lumberton just might want it bad enough to pull out the W at home. I just hope we get some decent referees and the players give it their all because this will be the last football game ever played for the seniors on one of these teams.

A perfect game from beginning to end

Dude I get it. I have been through this twice with both of my boys playing college ball. I totally understand the frustration. Its not about the pay is really what I am getting at. People do NOT want to officiate and those that get into it, usually don't last because there is so much criticism on these guys. The film get reviewed weekly, coaches give their writeups, crew chiefs respond, and they try to learn from mistakes. Its really up to that official to give 100% for the kids, coaches and all the parents involved. There are some crappy officials that are collecting the little 100 bucks and dont really take pride it what they do. But for the most part, most of the officials I know live and breathe it and officiate to their best ability. Again, I totally understand your frustration. Hugs! LOL

The correct response if to feel bad for the seniors. There's a chance that of those seniors, there may have been at least one that cared enough to not want to end the career this way. Hopefully they all did. However, as mentioned above, when the Athletic Director is as basketball heavy as the one they have... it's not surprising to see the football program go by the wayside. I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner in the year. It's hard enough to take losses but to do it with minimal players makes it all the more difficult. Hate to see it. West Hardin... get a football coach back in there.

I agree with you as far as the consistency of athletes goes in Jasper. I was really high on Coach Barbay when he came back in 2012, but I don't know that he'll get us where we need to go with the way we play. It's good enough to win a lot of football games, but we should at least be capable of winning every game and we're just not. I think he's doing a good job all things considered, but we need to set the bar higher.

I predict that this will be a close game, considering the following factors. Crosby has a great defense with good offense. KP has a great offense with good Defense. Let me also point out a few things. 1. Crosby’s offense took its sweet time warming up during the 1st Quarter 2. Kingwood Parks defense was unable to stop the drive of Texas City in the late Quarters.

Some of you don't realize that a lot of the schools locally do not use the local TASO Chapter of officiating. Several use the Houston Chapter. So some of these officiating crews you are speaking of are not the SETX chapter. Just keep that in mind.

Just wear mask and stay six feet apart. I don't see the problem with people attending games if they do those two things. This shouldn't be hard to enforce when you consider there's several police officers at these events. Someone can't follow the rules, have them escorted out.

It’s not just setx. I mean who in the hell in their right mind wants to go out there and take that abuse for next to nothing money wise. Those guys can go call peewee games on Saturday mornings and make the same money, and have absolutely no pressure. The bad part about it is it’s only going to get worse.

Speaking of Arline, because he was ejected in last night's game in 2nd half, he will have to miss the 1st half of the 1st round playoff game. So we will need Jones and Dodd. Arline needs to get a grip on that attitude.

I watched that game and I can tell you this.Newton did not play sloppy. It can be said Hemphill played Sloppy in the 4th quarter. Other than that both teams battled it out. It seems Newton not winning by 60 points every game is playing sloppy? That’s some fantasy but not reality. I guess Newton playing a very good team and just winning is not good enough. That’s ego talking not the players performance on the field.

Me and my son have a tradition. This time of year, at the end of the game, we don't leave until all the players are off the field. We stand and wait out of respect, and we cry. We started doing this years ago when my oldest was at Crosby. At the end of season and playoff games, there is always a couple players that stay on the grass as long as the can. For most of these young men, they will never put on a helmet again. We watched young men refuse to leave, push their teammates away, trying desperately to grasp the moment like they are trying to hold on to castles in the sand. Its a big moment, some of the things we love and the journeys we take come to an end. The tide will rise, and the waves of time will reclaim what is rightfully theirs. There are precious things in this life that will come to an end, and many times, when and how it will end is not your choice. I hear ya, "its just football". But I would ask you to take a moment, after the band stops playing and the scoreboard is turned off, stand up and look. Life in all its splendor and tragedy is unfolding before you. It's more than just football.

You're right it's not the kids fault but at the end of the day WO-S probably looks better than they really are due to the competition as the other poster stated. Carthage has played better teams and it should be no argument that you should take them more as face value than WO-S. Maybe WO-S is that good, but when you take emotion out of things, Carthage seems to be the more proven team.

Never really became a rival with Crosby. We like beating each other, but while Crosby and Dayton were beating up on each other we were a smaller school fighting it out with Liberty, Huffman , Anahuac and Hampshire Fannett . I agree Crosby is a mystery though because they looked good against GR , but after the Manvel beating they just don’t seem to be the team that 14.2 sold us at the beginning of the year.

Great first day for the Lady Hawks today! Loads of talent this year and a hard working group of girls. They will be fun to coach and definitely fun to watch this year!
