  1. you're still the only football poster on this site who's delusional enough to think that football success should be measured by state championships at PNG. your explanation of "good and bad" is inherently bad.

  3. "Facts" are arbitrary these days, especially when you can also have "alternative facts" now. Judging from his interview where he was stating how much he loved PNG I'm sure BF's opinion on his departure is 180 degrees out from the guy that did the interview and said he left on his own accord. "Good or bad reasons" wouldn't matter, he would have to explain either one in a job interview. My first interview question to him would be, "Why are you leaving a program and community you and your family love so much to drop down and take this job if there were no issues?". If he was forced out for a "good" reason he wouldn't be getting another job as quickly as he did. If his new boss feels like he was forced out for a "bad" reason then he's probably your leading candidate and the hiring process is just a formality like it was.

  4. I think the committee approach for the superintendent and the AD are excellent routes to go for sure. Maybe the assistant supt. also, that way you have a check on the supt.'s powers and don't end up in a situation like we did in Crosby a few years ago. There's already kind of a committee process for hiring a supt., but I would have completely different committee makeups for hiring a supt. versus hiring an AD though. I think it's tough to hire any of their subordinates that way because you're somewhat stripping them of the powers you hired them to execute? I don't think the committee should hire the girls basketball coach and then try to hold the AD responsible for the results if they suck. I think you hire those two administrators through the committee process and then allow them to build their organizations in their own effigies.

  6. At the end of the day the coach makes decisions that give his team the best chance to win. No one in the gym wants to win worse than he does. The mommas and daddies are just fans and unfortunately some of them never learn that. I don’t know this coach at all but he has to be extremely frustrated with the noise from the bleachers. If you look back at the Horns season it looks like the coach has been looking for an answer that just isn’t there. With 3 district loses and a very tight OT win against Huffman it may be time for the Horns faithful to come back to reality. Some people seemed to think that this club would challenge Silsbee when in reality that was wishful thinking on their part.

  9. I see your point . I do think that some coaches dream job is to resurrect a dead football program where hey will be loved by all and have job security for the rest of their career All for a little less money and a LOT less headache, I don't believe that is the case in this particular situation, however.

  10. The problem is that nothing will happen to this sorry administration. Nothing, absolutely nothing. They do whatever they want and no one will hold them accountable. I can't wait for the American people to grow a pair and take power away from these crooked politicians!!!

  15. Yeah this all comes back to the coach IMO. Any coach worth his salt would have these issues (both with his team and their parents) straightened out before district play in one way or another.
    1 point
  16. Really both, but one will come with more backlash than the other. Leadership has got to understand, the voters are going to Google the new head coach’s last name. They’re going to find the win-loss records and the history, which will also find its way into every news media article about the hire. They’re going to see the rumors that have been circulating here and elsewhere for months, and people who have been slow to pass judgment are going to see that as confirmation that the rumors were true. And even if it’s a likable guy who’s cleaned up and rebuilt his career (I personally happen to like one of those two quite a bit as a man), it doesn’t make him the right guy to take over the PN-G program. In particular, college recruiting is a concern to a lot of people. PN-G wasn’t shelling out many Roschon Johnsons, Jaylen Garths, Blake Bosts or Adam Morses before Faircloth. We’ve had more success at that the last six years or so than we’d had in decades. Y’all know relationships are everything when it comes to college recruiting, and Faircloth’s relationships at the next level went a long way for some PN-G alumni who might not have gotten a second look without him. Moving forward, a lot of your major programs are going to have concerns about appearances when the relationship is with a guy who has a history of NCAA violations. I was in these threads telling people there would be tremendous political blowback over Faircloth’s ouster. Nobody in leadership listened. Now the school board’s in full bore damage control mode, calling around trying to get people to stop talking about it on Facebook because the outrage is multiples of what they thought they’d get and they need the conversation to die down. I hope they listen to my prognostications this time.

Totally off topic, but the proposal for the hospital district improvements, etc was destined to fail for lots of reasons. Here's an informative post from facebook, from a person in Dayton. Not sure where the article he mentions is located. Take it for what you will. Okay, I have read the somewhat misleading article about the proposed new hospital. Now to set the type and the record straight, the proposed hospital will be built in Liberty with a “token” clinic built in Dayton. Years ago, Liberty decided it wanted a hospital district. The first attempt pitted the Liberty-Hardin-Devers-Hull and Daisetta areas against the Dayton area comprised of Dayton ISD. The hospital district was voted down. But the district proponents were not done. This second time they reduced the Dayton vote to what was then only the defined city limits of Dayton - in other words, they gerrymandered the vote to get the results they wanted. This time, of course, Dayton was outvoted. As everyone is well aware, the Dayton area has far surpassed Liberty in its growth. The expected growth of Dayton will soon dwarf the other areas, other than Dayton, served by the district. Personally, I have several questions: 1. Was there any attempts to get a donation of land in Dayton for the proposed hospital? With a hospital being built in Dayton and Liberty already having a hospital, the new clinic wouldn’t be necessary, saving money. 2. Will the passage of the proposal in any way hinder the ability of Dayton to have its own hospital which could also share in the funding provided by district funds? 3. Who were the citizens of Dayton that were on the district board that were involved in coming up with this proposal? 4. The article said the land had already been donated and paid for. Wasn’t that a little presumptuous? Just like the last time, what’s the hurry all of a sudden? 5. Much has been made about Liberty being the county seat, but it only requires a petition by the majority of voters within the county to petition for moving the county seat. Can you imagine what could happen if just the Dayton-Cleveland areas decided that a county seat needed to be more accessible to the more populous area of the county? There wouldn’t have to be any gerrymandering to make it happen. It is for these reasons i will be voting no for the proposition.

  28. Don't they ever let you out of the home? Did you happen to run into Elvis, Steve McCarty or maybe Richard Nixon while you were there. After you realized it wasn't a home game did you try to wipe your feet or take off your shoes before you went in the gate. But you don't have to sweat it anymore because starting this year all home games with Bridge City will be played on the Green Ave. Field until if and when the Cards get their first victory against the Stangs. This according to the recently board approved WOOTCA (Worthy Opponent Only Turf Conservation Act).

  29. You're kind of reiterating what I'm saying. Every school that has a football team has those exact same costs you mentioned. I agree the overwhelming majority of schools' football programs are costing them money. What I was highlighting is that fact that those costs are more easily swallowed when programs are generating large revenue streams and that it's fine for those AD/HFC's to be compensated as such.

We all know you can go all day! some of what you say is an opinion, some false The bleachers some including me like, the concession stands are pretty new(I think you are referring to the old ones under the stands). Visitor parking lot is concrete Video screen is the newest and biggest in our area for sure(new again after Laura got the first one) The band has uniforms every year, although I am with you on the part of not wearing them ALL the time! You should for the heck of it ride by or stop in and see what’s happening around there, especially the new event center/gym!

  33. For the record, I like ProtonMail, too. Great email service. Very useful in Austin politics since it doesn’t track IP addresses and can’t be tied to individuals who wish to remain anonymous, or at least impossible to conclusively identify. The casual observer may not understand why that’s relevant to this thread, but it’s relevant to this thread.

  35. Mr. Satcher won 8 games in 5 years, similar to Butch Troy's record winning 12 games in 5 years at png. No png resident wants to take a chance of going thru those coaching days again. IMO if you let a guy with Faircloth's resume/record go, a coach with a better resume/record should be the goal. If not then it was 100% a political move by Administrators & board members.

  36. Don't be fooled. Like I stated earlier. El Paso didn't even have a weight room. Rayburn is not much different. These kids are more concerned about if they are gonna eat that night than football. He's fed many a kid in his time at those schools. Mark my word. Satcher would sweep the floor with ol big Ned. Defensive guru. Mike Leach smart. Im telling you. Don't sleep on him.

  39. Once again you watched a different game. I’m not sure a stint at Tekoa makes you an expert although you’re certainly entitled to your opinion. The trap that was used in the 2nd half was a different look and worked on more than one occasion on different players. Give credit where it’s due . With both teams hitting on all cylinders HJ has the best club this year. I gotta think these conversations make things tough in the HF locker room. On a different note HF looks to have a really nice JV club. Some of those kids , if eligible, could play on the varsity.

  47. Never a good time to lose you coach, unless you want him gone, but right now would be an absolute awful time for PNG with the upcoming realignment. A lot of y'all are talking about what PNG can or can't do RIGHT NOW but are failing to look forward, like to February 3rd? Outside of FB Marshall and Liberty Hill, who will probably be moved to region 3 this realignment, who else would you point to in the southern half of the state in 5A-D2 that would be a hands down favorite over PNG next year? Maybe one of the Corpus schools in the semis? They already beat Montgomery who's losing their entire offense anyway, Brenham isn't what they once were, Huntsville is probably about to slide some and you watched a team you beat last year donkey stomp FB Marshall in bi-district. I said it four years ago when it happened but splitting 5A was a Godsend for SETX and other areas of the state where the growth is slow to stagnant. 6A is 6A, 5A-D1 is JV 6A for your growing suburban areas about to move up to the top class like Crosby and BH. However, 5A-D2 is made for schools that just opened like Lake Creek and ones that have "mature" populations like the SETX and East Texas 5A's. I'm not saying PNG can win state or even the region but it's a mistake to think that they shouldn't be extremely competitive for the foreseeable future. Same goes for some others.
