I just get tired of the excuses. Racism is obviously the cause of black on black crime. Is it redlining or white flight? Either way, the black community definitely isn’t to blame. Young black men in prison? They’re all innocent, but they were scooped up by the racist justice system and therefore you have fatherlessness. Once again, you can’t expect black people to pretend to be responsible. This is also the fault of Whitey. The fact that literally dozens of blacks are shot in Chicago every freaking weekend, but they all chimp out because a cop shoots a man who was shooting at him.... you know, because “black lives matter.” Sometimes it’s not even worth talking about.

I completely understand that most folks here are concerned with our local "dynasty" teams and the bigger schools and I am 100% behind that as well. I do have to say this though.... The Deweyville Pirates are gonna make a lot of noise this year...and they are earning that right every practice. My apologies if y'all thought this was a Vidor post, but I feel that they are gonna deal out plenty damage to their opponents as well! Go Pirates!

I have confirmed through several of the coaches that District 9-5A-I teams will have a 9 game schedule this year. 1. Each team will play 2 non-district games (Week 1 (9/24-26) and Week 2 (Oct. 1-3) 2. A full district schedule will be played starting in Week 3. 3. There will be 2 open weeks during district play, one in Week 6 and one in Week 10, in case they need to make up games lost to COVID.

Praying for that young man family. Something are bigger than sports.with everything that's going on. Im still in doubt abt the season.praying for each and every kid for health and strength.

As we start the 2020-2021 season with our football and volleyball players taking to the field and the court tomorrow, we need to realize what we have been given. We have been given a gift......a gift to play, coach, and follow high school football and volleyball. While some might think it should be a given, other states have shown, whether you agree or not, that it is not. By the dialogue on here, that gift is a very precious one, but is also a very fragile one. A gift that can be destroyed by a single misstep by a player, coach, staff member, member of the player's family or even friends or fellow students. We ALL know the protocols...not all of them are pleasant...many don't agree with them. But if we do not follow them and destroy this gift we have no one to blame but ourselves...no politicians, no doctors, no nothing, just ourselves. I may be the eternal optimist, but I believe in these kids, these coaches and these communities to do what is needed to guide this precious gift along. Some don't agree with that either, but I have seen some pretty serious sacrifices made to allow this gift to proceed in the past. Let us root that they will be able to do so this year as well. And let us all pray for our boys and girls, our coaches, teachers and administrators as they lead us long this treacherous path that is the 2020-21 school year.

You guys are so negative, you want it to be over before it starts. I can’t believe so many people truly want there to be no football season or school year. We are supposed to be all in to play a full football schedule, including playoffs. If a player tests positive they sit out for 10 days and most likely come back just fine. If a team has an outbreak maybe they forfeit a game or two and the rest of the teams play on, like baseball is doing. Why is it so hard to follow a model like that? I’d be more concerned about the coaches, officials and fans, hopefully we don’t see any problems there but the kids will be fine. They are young, in good shape and have yet to develop any underlying health conditions like the rest of us old worry warts.

No tourneys but will host state tourney.. very head scratching choice..
