The last time both teams were ranked for this game was 2021. All meetings since then have been won the the visiting team. Last time Newton came to town we lost a shootout 58-54. Thats the most points ever scored against the Mustangs in any game. Neither team is breaking any records this week. Hearing the Eagles have solid run game as usual but can't throw a pass more than 10 yards. I hope my source is wrong. I havn't had a chance to see the Mustangs personally but from what I hear this season can go 2 ways. Defense wins championships. Or the game is won in the trenches. One has to happen before the other. Can't put the cart before the horse.

  7. This was my take on the game last year: Eisenhower has a really good soph. RB. He had over 120 yards rushing last night. Their O-line dominated WB up front. Bruins never had an answer for Ike's counter plays. QB was very mobile and helped extend plays when needed. Eisenhower not a bad team. West Brook offense is a struggle. The soph. QB will need time to grow. Threw 2 picks last night. Bruin run game was ineffective. Ike's front 4 was able to control line of scrimmage. WB has to get better up front to have any success this season. Bruins finished with less than 120 yards of total offense. BTW, Ike's QB from Warren started the game. Played first series then was replaced by #2 who was much more dynamic. He was the QB that I was told to be the starter.

  8. Ike did beat West Brook last season 27-17 in Beaumont. I was at that game. Ike wasn't bad at all. I got WB winning because I think the Bruins are going to be very good this season. Not sure about Ike going 0-10.

I see what you are saying. Possibly I asked a different question. I think MP Materials should review their shareholders. It seems that Shenghe Resources owns stock and is the primary customer. There is so much going on that we don’t jnow about. This is what I found……. Shenghe Resources, a Chinese rare earth company, holds a significant minority stake in MP Materials, the company that owns the Mountain Pass rare earth mine in California. As of July 2025, with the U.S. Department of Defense becoming the largest shareholder, Shenghe's stake will be surpassed. Historically, Shenghe was MP Materials' primary customer, purchasing a large portion of its rare earth concentrate, but MP Materials has ceased shipments to China as of April 2025 and is accelerating its own processing and magnet manufacturing facilities. Shenghe's Shareholding Minority Stake: Shenghe Resources holds a significant minority share of MP Materials, which has been reported as approximately 7.7% to 8%. U.S. Government as Largest Shareholder: In July 2025, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) acquired preferred stock in MP Materials, making it the largest shareholder and surpassing Shenghe's stake. Relationship Evolution Historical Customer Role: Shenghe was a major customer for MP Materials, purchasing the majority of its rare earth concentrate produced at the Mountain Pass mine for processing in China. Shift Away from China: MP Materials ceased shipments to China in April 2025 and is actively building its own separation and manufacturing capabilities, reducing its reliance on Shenghe as a customer. Strategic Context U.S. Rare Earth Strategy: Shenghe's stake has been a point of concern for U.S. policymakers, including Senator Lisa Murkowski, due to its potential influence on a critical rare earth resource. MP's Strategic Build-out: MP Materials is expanding its downstream capabilities, including separating and refining its concentrate and building a magnet manufacturing facility, to reduce dependence on China and its processors

That’s a terrible link I posted. It worked when I posted it. Maybe this one is better….. [Hidden Content] Correct me if I’m wrong, but Trump threatened tariffs against Mexico and Canada unless they made an effort to help with border security. Seemed like a reasonable offer to me. Your last sentence is spot on.

    Tariffs

I was about to start another thread about this. Canada on August 1: “Oh yeah, Trump is imposing tariffs on us!? We will retaliate with a 25% tariff on US goods. That’ll show them!!” 3 weeks later… Canada: “Okay, we will drop our tarrifs.” 😎 I said it months ago about the trade imbalance. Canada has about 20% of its GDP coming from exports to the US and for Mexico it’s maybe 35% with much more reliant on Mexicans working in the US and sending money home. Mexico would likely crumble if trade to the US was halted. They can play hardball if they want or they can negotiate with Trump.

I don’t have an issue with incentives, subsidies, or ‘completion bonuses.’ Again, that’s not crossing the line into direct ownership. The Administration could just as easily have offered incentives to a couple major players, and let them compete. Put some bait out in front of Qualcomm, Intel, and TI. Give them a goal. See who wins. Intel hasn’t been relevant since the IPhone. To masquerade them as a great company is a joke at best. But, that’s beside the point. I think you understand where I’m coming from…

Prison doesn’t reform sex predators they are housed in protective custody and/or special housing. Everyday someone is posting on Facebook of a child that has gone missing. Biden administration was wrong and Trump administration was wrong. Trump needs to explain to the public and to the victims families why inmate Maxine is receiving special treatment. She is not in protective custody or special housing.

  37. Two more years... to learn how to catch? Look.. I know it may be hard to hear that they likely have zero players that will lose an athletic scholarship because of the football season folding, but the truth hurts sometimes. It's not meant to be offensive. It's an absolute fact that the chances of a Texas high school football player receiving a scholarship to play beyond high school is miniscule. Roughly 2% receive a scholarship of any kind.. less than 1% receive a full scholarship. If you line up 100 kids from the state (including Westlake, Southlake Carrol, Carthage, Aledo,.. hell... Katy, Barbers Hill, Nederland, WOS..), you honestly think that 2.. or 1.. out of that 100 will be a kid that plays at Sabine Pass High School? Get your feelings out of the equation, dude. And.. believing that a kid incapable of (catching) as a sophomore can somehow be "coached up" and become a scholarship player brings your knowledge of the game into question.

  38. In Orangefield/Silsbee scrimmage: OF 1st team scored on 3 long TD passes. Silsbee 1st team scored 3 rushing TD's and 1 passing TD. Orangefield had lots of trouble running on the Silsbee defense. Silsbee run game looked very solid. Tiger secondary will have to improve. Lot's of blown coverages. With no contact on the QB, it is hard to assess how the Silsbee QB will be. Many times he could have tucked and ran with it and they never really ran a read option due to the no contact. I think he will bring a dynamic to that position that Silsbee has not had since the Jeremy Johnson and Patrick Reed days.

  40. There's always the chance that 1 or 2 have some ability. However... having enough ability to maybe fill a roster spot at PAM and being mentioned in the same sentence as "a chance to be looked at for scholarships" are so far removed from a comparison that it's laughable. Sorry. I have to believe that not only SP, but just about any school that size that had a "scholarship player" would not only either figure out how to fill a schedule, but would be extremely competitive. Especially if we're talking skill kids. But.. I'd bet that any high school football player that truly has a chance at playing football at the next level isn't going to Sabine Pass.
