I've watched all of his interviews.....he's a journalist and ask questions......verus debating his guest like CNN......I have always thought journalist ask questions and political hacks posing as journalist debate their guest......am I wrong? There isn't a person here that doesn't feel bad for the kids or the situation. It's definitely a very uncommon thing that their school enrollment has gone the opposite direction of the norm.. especially at such a quick rate. I'm really wondering what's going on over there to cause it... Anyway. Unfortunately.. I don't think it's something that they'll ever live down. The poster that you're referring to, (the one that only shows up when they beat literally anybody).. has ruined it for the school. The four horsemen thing will never die.

I read he was 33-15 at WB.... hes 18-9 at lcm so far... thats how many years at a very good record? What coaches are you saying he is worst against? Looks like winning numbers to me but my math has to be wrong since you're always right that looks to me like more than 2 winning season 🤣

well yeah. if the slot t is running well, when you do throw a pass its usually wide open. the point of my post was that this team lacks discipline and looks out of shape. those things can be fixed and hopefully the staff can get it done, if not it will be a rough district

You entitled to your opinion but that doesn't make it a fact. The fact is that both teams are way better than any team Westwood has played so far.

Franklin had 6 total fumbles and 4 lost fumbles. So yes the scores was close between Franklin and Woodville. Can't really read in to first game of the the season. Franklin had 0 turnovers the next game while Woodville seemed to turn it over to Newton. Woodville played pretty much a perfect game against Franklin and still lost while having around 3 turnovers against Newton. If Woodville played Newton as well as they did against Franklin then they would have beat Newton imo. Had Franklin not turned it over 4 times it could have very well been a 21 point game. Franklin had almost 600 yards of offense with pretty much a new O-line playing their first varsity game. But what if's don't matter and these games are in the past. I don't think people realize how bad Franklin played week 1 and still won. It was the worst game they have played in the past 4 years hands down. I'm not saying Woodville is a bad team because they aren't but I have always heard you see what a team is made of from week 1 to week 2 in improvement. Good Luck to the SETX teams down the road. Look forward to Diboll and Jasper the next 2 weeks. I guess we will see how much we have improved here soon. Diboll always plays against Franklin well. And Jasper seems to be a power house.

IZZY is right and its not about coaching or athletes at this point in BISD. Both schools have more than enough athletes to at least compete, and when I say compete I saying w/ 5A programs SMDH... The infrastructure for FOOTBALL is HORRIBLE. You can't compete at the 6A level when you don't have all of your COACHES/ATHLETES in the athletic period. Your athletes are put into BEHIND the 8ball when the playing field is not level. 6A OC/DC coordinators should not teach full loads of classes and only coach after school. Athletes cannot compete when the only time they are coached is after school. UIL and the state of TEXAS has allowed sport specific athletic classes (PE/ Athletic Periods) and when some schools take advantage and others don't it shows on the field. Also financially (the stipends in BISD) are not comparable to any of other 6A programs in the state so bringing in quality coaches/ or keeping coaches in a small town compared to LARGER DISTRICTS is hurting no only FB but all sports.. Im sorry but Basketball has a total of less than 50 players in a program. A quality FB program will have 100-120 so make it make since where BISD is putting their attention when it comes Athletics....

Kind of funny how perception works. I thought he was way more accurate against Nederland yet his numbers were better against PNG. The play calls were mostly bubble screens and short passes the first game but the incomplete passes were way off and at his receivers feet. The pass plays against Nederland were mainly medium to long passes and I thought he was right on the money yet he had more incomplete passes even though he threw less. O line has been holding up well but I'm worried how he'll react to a team with a stout D line. He seems to have some wheels on him as well, I noticed that after he picked up the fumbled snap against Nederland and ran it in for the touchdown. Either way, there's still room for improvement and he'll get better as the season goes no doubt.

That’s the point of the slot T… they seldom pass, and when they do it’s some kind of play action they looks like pure luck if it works. But somebody in the stands is always yelling “why aren’t we throwing the ball?” Because that’s not the plan, and nobody should be surprised that they run it 95% of the time.

Well, it does probably affect the morale of the team, but PNG was a state runner-up, so there's that. PNG is playing down next Friday. We've gotten beat by the little team from Orange more times than not. Because WOS is a measuring stick, that's why we play down. No shame in getting beat by them. Disclaimer: I'm in no way comparing PNG to WOS. I wouldn't dare..lol

In layman terms, it looks better to get beat by a Mediocre 6A, than a smaller school. But still.....

I got Westwood at 2 right now but this district could go a lot of different ways. Different teams will match up differently. Can't see Diboll not being in the top 3.

Thanks for the input... I really haven't looked at Newton's size just yet but on Woodville's schedule as far as I can tell only us Westwood and Franklin are the biggest size wise they will see for at least the regular season. The next opponent in Liberty are very undersized and Woodville should fare way better than Coldspring did against them. This @jds82 is what I was referring to about common opponents no matter how each team plays each but I do bother to look at the teams and the score although on any given Friday the outcome can be different.

Not a 1 run game today

Chas should be an everyday player. He has excellent defense and is probably the most clutch hitter we have. Likewise, Yainer Diaz should be in the lineup daily. The weakest link in today's batting lineup is Jose Abreu. Our biggest overall problem right now seems to be starting pitching.

Thanks for doing this, Seems you have a good pulse of where teams are and follow all closely. I have to admit that We have played both Newton and Franklin better than most expected, myself included. I still worry about our size and depth, but the team has played well to this point coming up short one play in both games. This is my sons last year, I look forward to enjoying the rest of the season. Since going to 4 teams make the playoffs, out of all divisions, how many 4th seeds have played in the final game? We just have higher expectations than 1 and done. Something that all teams/staffs/fans should be striving for. Not spoiled, but PROUD of what those that built this program up over 40+ years have accomplished. They set the bar so high, especially for themselves. That even CT getting knocked out in the 4th round to the eventual state champion was disappointing. No participation trophies needed here. I'm gonna have to get an updated pic of the trophy case to show you. I'd bet dollars to donuts we have more wooden trophies than LCM has District Championships. That speaks volumes about our tradition of playing our cross town rival. Bears fans complain about it? Should be the other way around. Mustangs have needed to get out of that game for a long time. But we do appreciate the extra 33 wins for the historic winning % record. Couldn't have done it without teams like lcm and BC. Good luck against them this week. Waiting for someone to say it's Monday.

Slice it and dice it anyway you want, but Sterling is improved and I hope that will continue for them. They are playing with a real spark right now. I don't think that will be near enough for them this Friday night though. After that, I wish RSS all the best.

This is my upset of the week. Going with the Dogs in this one. Silsbee is going to have a nice run when they begin with district play.

Freshman QB had 2-3 good down field passes on the mark, that gave me some confidence in him. He had a good game that will improve in time. I think we have 2-3 freshman starting on this team so as they get experience it will help. EC had two fumbles and a blocked punt and stayed within 2 scores of a good 4A team. EC has some young inexperienced players that will improve with time so they should be able to compete for 1st in District. HF QB was good and had a couple of good receivers that can score fast!!!! Good luck HF with the rest of the season!!!

The Mustangs have had success running it. Itll be interesting to see if we can rely on Turners arm when the run isn't working. I believe he'll have to sling it against PNG. I don't think we're going to see the success on the ground we have the first two and PNG gon score. We won't stop them in our new, normal. PNG won't shoot themselves in the foot the way LCM did.

BC stopped Buna’s running game. Their guys up front disrupted the back field the entire game, causing the QB to scramble and costly penalties on Buna. BC is very disciplined on the defensive side of the ball. Their secondary contested every pass as well. BC could cause some problems in their district. #55 is a beast at DE. Good luck trying to block him.

Well I will never make a prediction as many of you others will. WOS is the best program in SETX. Period. Everyone else including PNG is trying to emulate what they have done. Stangs you have my respect and I tip my cap to you as a program, to your kids who are always some of the best athletes in Texas, your coaching, and finally some of the best and most knowledgeable fans in this area. You are what we all are aspiring to be. Winners. Win or lose WOS , though a division lower than us, will 100% prepare us for district, expose all of our weaknesses, and make us better for playing you. So again I make no prediction, just knowing that this is the best thing we can do to try and tackle that hill called FBM in 2 weeks. Please be safe on your drive over to the Reservation I look forward to seeing the game.

The better team won tonight but give credit to Coach Sutherland and his staff and the EC team. They did what they needed to do to stay in this game. HF is a very good team and EC gave them all they wanted. Two things caught my attention after tonight's game. HF doesn't run the ball very well and doesn't defend the run very well. Longhorns want to make it a 7 on 7 contest, both offensively and defensively. That's their strength. QB and receivers, defensive backs. A little light in the defensive front. Good speed on defense but a team with a good running game will give them fits. EC has a gem in the making at QB with the freshman Fontenot. Bucs will improve as the season goes. I think they have a real shot at winning district. Going to be better than some predicted.
