To AAW! I'm sure these last couple days have been tough for you, but I think I speak for all of us when I say thank you for keeping the game threads and pick ems going, amongst all the other things that none of us are even aware that y’all do to keep this going. Todd would be proud 🙏🏻

Sloppy game overall, just happy for Carthage to come out with a victory. This was a pretty big step up in competition from the 5a teams we have played the last 4-5 years. Crosby literally played in the state title game last season. No matter what anybody says this is notch in the Carthage program’s belt. Huge win IMO. There is always the question whether or not Carthage can compete at the higher levels, I think wins like this show there is no doubt they could. When we put Marshall on the schedule this is the type of games that we’re expected. In 2018 it was a close game and Marshall went 3 rounds deep that year, but they have fell off since then and basically refused to play us this year. Their coach said it didn’t benefit them to play Carthage (aka get blown out by a 4a DII school). Crosby had some great looking players on both sides of the ball. Very impressed with their D-Line. They also had some athletes on offense. Stud QB, RB, and WR. Not sure why they didn’t out the ball in #20’s hands more. Should’ve committed to running the ball more. That kid is a baller. Kirkwood was also impressive on that long TD. He is FAST. Carthage really missed their starting center. Anybody that knows Carthage football knows the importance of our center. But in all honesty, I don’t know how much of a difference having all our starting O-Line would have made in the run game. Crosby D-Line was very good. That has to be the best D-Line we will see all year. Those kids dominated the LOS. Where I think having our starters would’ve made the biggest difference was in pass protection. Knowing assignments and picking up stunts and blitzes. Tough night for Roc. Cuff came in and played great, but I honestly still think this is a competition at the QB position even with how good Cuff played last night. We won’t see a D as good as Crosby again this season, so things will look a lot different against 4a competition. Regardless we have depth at the QB position which is a great thing to have. Very impressed with Carthage WR’s. That will be a special group later in the season. Excited to see Paddie develop. Kid is a burner. Hatten is the leader and 4 star. Wade is a playmaker. Overall I think this was a great 1st game for both teams to see where they are. Definitely a ton of things to work on going forward for both teams. I think both these teams have success this season. Cannot remember the last time Carthage was down 17. I think you would have to go back to 2016 in the 1st game against Henderson? Not sure. Maybe 2015 against La Vega. Anyway, good luck to Crosby going forward. Hopefully we can keep this game going. Hope your QB gets healthy and you guys make another run this year. Best of luck.

That score did not surprise me after seeing the varsity roster for Silsbee. Varsity roster for Silsbee: 14 seniors 10 juniors 18 soph. !!!!!!!!!! Of those 18 tenth graders, at least 10 will start and several will get significant action. Silsbee does not field a freshmen team. All their freshmen are on JV.

You were not that bad as far as doubting talking down about carthage but bout to make 14.2 look silly here are just a few quotes from him Ok. Aledo held Crosby to their lowest point total of the season. I don’t think Carthage’s defense will be as good as Aledo’s, plus I think this Crosby offense will be better than the one Aledo held to 21 last year. Above was my justification in the original post I was responding to which was about Crosby being held to 14 points. It is a little misleading because I actually think Huntsville had the best defense we faced with those Bobino brothers but the point still remains in regards to how I view Aledo’s defense vs Carthage’s I saw them, they’re impressive against 4A squads. It’s different when those d-linemen have to chase a QB that can embarrass them and those DBs have to check some of the fastest 5A players in the state. Not overly concerned about what you bring back and if the linebacker you’re talking about is Kip Lewis he’s not even close to a 5 star. Crosby dropped 62 on Texas High who had two 4 star line backers, one of which was actually almost a 5 star. Clayton Smith finished #38 overall and three spots out of 5 star designation, Lewis is #259 overall and 228 spots out of 5 star designation.

Thanks for those kind words. There is no way I can fill Todd's shoes on my own. It will have to be a group effort. But I will do my best. Today is a little tough. Todd's service today was very nice. I was one of his pallbearers. Got to say my final goodbye today.

Don’t know why Crosby didn’t run the ball a lot more. 20 was a beast. On the best drive you guys had they fed him the ball on the drive to put Crosby up 24-20. Think Crosby coach probably out coached himself a little bit last night. Feed that man the rock!

I’m not a cop hater, I support most cops, have worked alongside many cops, have used cops as references, etc etc.. and agree with most of what’s been stated in this topic. time and time again we see some hothead who abuses his power, beats his wife/kids, or pulls some type of BS that makes their entire unit look bad. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Been just keeping an eye on Carthage for a few years. One thing I’ve noticed, if you’re ahead of them, or close at Halftime, you better change what you’re doing in the second half. You always hear about “adjustments” at half, but Surratt & his Staff do it, and do it very, very well. I’d love to know what all they did at halftime. Carthage was a different team in the second half. Imo, they’ve solved they’re QB question & the D is as advertised. Crosby’s D is VERY good. I think #20 is a very good RB, and needs the ball. Crosby should have a great season. What a game to start off the season. Can’t say enough about it. Hats off to both teams, Coaches & Staffs.

I hate to say this but Crosby coach outcoached himself. Kudos to Carthage, but Crosby blew this one. Hope Miles is okay, kid is tough.

I wouldn't say that Vidor scoring over 30 pts is too far fetched. Don't quote me on my stats but in the past 4 or 5 seasons, Vidor has scored over 30pts 7 times, 40pts 7 times, 50pts 2 times, and 60pts 2 times.
