  1. I see what you're saying about talent but I don't think the two District teams we lost to have a whole lot more Talent than us I just think that we have been getting outcoached. I don't know how you let a 4th and forever get converted with a fake punt. It just didn't get converted it went for a touchdown. If that's not getting outcoached I don't know what is. The one thing I saw Livingston do is what most people here have been talking about is they played their best players both ways. It's not like this is 6a football and you have 20 running backs on the team and three of them run for a hundred yards a game. You have to use what you have and play your best players both ways. These are high school kids and should be in plenty of shape to be able to do that. Just no game plan!!!!

  5. I was finally able to watch the video from that angle -- That ball was not clearly uncatchable. "Clearly" is the key to me. The ball "might" not have been caught, but the DB "clearly" pushed the receiver to obstruct the path to the ball, and the ball only looks so far away because of that obstruction. Without that, the receiver would have been able to make a play on the ball. No one, PNG fan or Nederland, wants the game to go on a penalty, but the idea that there wasn't interference is not defensible, in my opinion.

    BH Vs. Crosby

Both teams started the year ranked in the top 10 of the state to only drop their 1st 2 games of the season. BH’s loses come from two larger schools that still are having undefeated seasons while Crosby played two larger schools as well with one being juggernaut Manvel which beat up the Coogs like Manvel can. Last year BH won 24-7 in Mont Belvieu, but this year BH will travel to the Jungle To take on the Coogs. Big district game here as we all start to battle for playoffs and district seeding. This should be a great game.

  8. For your information #9 is the starting runningback. #22 is an outside linebacker. And it sounds like Ball just finished those series against y'all with their RB taking snaps like a wildcat offense. And the kid #22 is still the best athlete on the team no matter how inept the Ball coaching staff is.

  11. So by your logic Goose Creek Memorial and Baytown Lee is better than United. GCM beat Ball 34-7 which is more "dominant" than United. Lee just beat GCM, so United doesn't stand a chance against them. So Robert is that really what you want to go with?

  13. I also want to see more sure open field tackling. I think the defense just needs to move permanently to a 4-3 for the rest of the season. What is clear after four games is that if we can get a body on a runner right at the line of scrimmage we will be okay, but in just about every instance where the runner is able to build up a head of steam (read: anytime the runner makes it to the second level), we are looking at a huge gain, or a touchdown. So far every team has been able to exploit that.

That's what I am being told also. I looked at some film on hudl and he looks pretty good. Maybe an opportunity to move Thomas back to receiver and improve a bit offensively. I'll be interested to see how Mac handles it.

    Huffman Repeat?

I started a new thread, let me see if I can close it. Here was my thread starter over there. I spend too much time looking at this stuff. If you don't want to read it all here is a summary. Summary - Huffman offense is getting better and executing well. The defense is good and the numbers support that. Special teams has been special. This team wins the turnover battle and doesn't commit a lot of penalties Huffman 35 Vidor 17 - Vidor can't score fast enough. Huffman 35 Livingston 28 - my guess is as good as yours. Huffman repeats as District Champion. The Long Post I try hard to look at the stats and data when I am guessing upcoming games. Well aware that there is more involved than historical information to determine who wins what, I have tasted crow before, and I am sure I will get a taste of that bitter meal in the future. But this is what I see from a Huffman fan perspective. With 2 games left in the season, the district pecking order is starting to take shape. Livingston (3-0) sits at the top with a little better Points For (91) and Points Allowed (35). Huffman (3-0) is right behind them PF - 85, PA-38. Splendora, Vidor, and LCM follow with 1-2 district records. Offense - Huffman has left points on the table. The defense has bailed them out but there has been some improvement on execution in the last couple games that should continue. Huffman started a DT/LB at center for the LCM game and it hurt their ability to move the ball. Still able to make it work and win. Missing a key skill player (injury) for the Splendora game made it difficult to move the ball. Still got the win. There was 2 offensive adjustments made in the second half that Splendora just couldn't answer. A healthy offense that has figured out what they can, and can't do, shouldn't have any problems putting points on the board for these last 2 games. Defense - The Huffman defense is 70% of the success of this season. They play fast, track the ball well, tackle well, and create turnovers. No team has been able to break off long runs consistently to get into a rhythm. Offenses are getting frustrated and taking risks. Needville and Lumberton are the only teams that were able to score in the first half against this defense. Huffman averages 2 points given up for the first half of games. That is significant. Special Teams - Well, kicking has been sporadic. I think they are on their second kicker. Coverage has been excellent. What has really been impressive is the punting. Huffman punts a line drive, consistently, that is hard to field and takes a Huffman bounce. It seems lucky, but in 7 games it has backed teams up consistently. With the defensive battle of the Navasota game, I am convinced the punter made a huge difference. This is a strength for this team. Turnovers/Penalties - Is it luck? Huffman seems to recover 3-4 fumbles a game, and 1-2 interceptions. That is staggering. Five turnovers against Splendora. Huffman may lose a couple and an interception every other game but the differential is staggering. I lean towards TO's being more about luck but good teams usually have some good luck. I never miss the chance to quote somebody here (or Friday Football app) "I have never not been disappointed by the officials." The calls this year seem to favor Huffman. I would like to say its the opponent making mistakes and feeling some pressure but I wouldn't bank on it. Huffman plays pretty clean football. Huffman @ Vidor - This is actually the game I am most excited about. I love Vidor's offensive scheme and I love the aggression Vidor always seems to play with. I have only seen some film this year of Vidor, not the games. What I see (and hope happens) is a stingy defense holding Vidor to 7-10 (they average 12 in the first half) points in the first half while methodically putting 21 on the board. Huffman adjusts well during the half and should put this one away 35-17. Vidor averages 9 points in the second half of games and the lone TD against Livingston was a punt block and recover in the endzone for a TD. Livingston @ Huffman - Well, lets use the same metrics. Livingston averages 17.5 points in the first half of games. That's best in district. Huffman allows 2. So this is one of those numbers that kinda goes in the wash. Won't know until they line up and play the first half. Livingston allows 8.8 points in the second half of games. Huffman scores 16 points per game in the second half. That favors Huffman over Livingston for the second half. It is at this point, I can be convinced that all these numbers don't really mean much. Rearward facing bias is certainly in play and few things are more biased than fans in the stands at high school football games. I predict a 35-28 victory for Huffman. Based on gut feel at this moment. Cheers!

  20. That’s fair, but Livingston has looked better and better week after week. They’ve both played Needville, with Huffman winning by 6 and the Lions losing by 1. If I remember correctly, Livingston was winning by one touchdown with a minute to go. Another thing is that Huffman hasn’t had much adversity this year. If the Lions jump out by a score or two I’m not sure how they’ll respond with the pressure of another perfect season and district title on the line. One thing Livingston has going for them is a nothing-to-lose chip on their shoulder. Should be a great game and all the cards are going to be played. I’m stoked.

  21. I think Livingston and Huffman will both have a pretty good shot at the 3/4 seed from 9A. As it stands now, Palestine is the 3rd seed and interestingly enough, Livingston and Palestine played week 2 this year. Palestine routed the Lions pretty handedly, but since then the Lions are on a 6 game tear and have gotten visibly better every week. If Livingston loses to Huffman next week and we see a Palestine rematch in round one, I’d say the Lions would come back with a little something to prove. As for whoever gets the 1/4 match up in Bi district, it’s hard to pick against a district champ even if it’s a weak district. But hey, crazier things have happened and there’s still a lot of shaking out to do.

    BH Vs. Crosby

Never really became a rival with Crosby. We like beating each other, but while Crosby and Dayton were beating up on each other we were a smaller school fighting it out with Liberty, Huffman , Anahuac and Hampshire Fannett . I agree Crosby is a mystery though because they looked good against GR , but after the Manvel beating they just don’t seem to be the team that 14.2 sold us at the beginning of the year.

  24. Good Morning, lets continue. The O-Line is our weakest position up to this point. We do a lot of things to compensate for that issue though, thats why we get the ball out of our QB's hand quick. we haven't really challenged anyone downfield yet bc of that. Our OC is a CHESS player so i can assure you that lil 3 ft corner opposite of the stud JG will be challenged early and often. How do you beat a nasty pass rush off the edges, screens and more screens. if you saw the game Friday, what did you see: the screen game. All that CHESS players is doing is putting that on film so that special teams guy can prepare fore it, like slow down the rush so we can go deeeepppp!!! If we get the edge guys thinking pass its a long game for PAM!!

  28. 2019 is 2019. This is 2020, catch up to the current times. 22-7 2nd half isn't struggling. We basically shut all that 1st half stuff down, proof is in the footage which is easily accessible on youtube. But 26-16 versus a depleted Friendswood squad with quite possibly one of the worse secondarys in the region is struggling, you forget I know ppl in Friendswood that attended that game. Don't let them 3 wins versus the weakest 3 teams in the district cloud ya judgement and inflate your brain to the point that you're thinking yall some juggernaut boss in 9-5A D1. Yall bout to go into the meat and potatoes of your district slate, pipedown squirt.

  30. It’s obvious u don’t know the area or about gpisd... all of the athletes live within walking distance of north shore high school , Cunningham and nsms... all three of those schools are walking distance from each other .. although the school has turned predominantly Hispanic north shore is still around 25-30 percent black .. with 4K plus students .. there’s hardly any blacks on the galena park side ... nsms is around 20 percent black and Cunningham is around 50 percent black ... the schools that are zoned gp don’t have hardly any blacks ...most of the blacks that live near gp high are zoned to hisd ... galena park middle and woodland acres middle are nowhere near north shore high , therefor it’s now way those zones can be stretched like that

    BH Vs. Crosby

Yeah this one is a toss up for me. I can’t see Crosby or BH not getting up for this game. The key for BH is to keep the game close and let their defense frustrate the Coogs. You can’t ever let Crosby get up on you quick and have to take the wind out of their sails early. Crosby always looks the part, but struggles to play to their potential sometimes. 7 point game either way, but BH can take this one.

  37. As for going to a conventional offense, that’s not always the answer. Ltown run the Slot T last year & ended up 8-4. This year, in the conventional shotgun, they’re 1-6. Whatever offense you run, you need the players. And I’ve been preaching against this long snap since I first seen it. Not only reduces offense surprise, but has cost Vidor a few fumbles. I guess there is some advantage, but durn if I can see it.

  41. No SOULJA i was speaking of our new head coaches record in his last 30 games in El Paso. Everyone was speaking on that in the community. Obviously he is a respected coach because we have coaches from Mississippi and Alabama that came to coach with him in a district that just started paying their coaches days (5 everyone else gets 10-15)). Most outside coaches have to take a pay cut unless they coach 5 sports. SOULJA BU has held back on a lot of stuff, the community gave them hail over how conservative they were against Westbrook but they will win over the community with a win that counts. The winner of this game will go undefeated in District play!!! Like i said, they will score 50 on PAM!! game plan: Run away from the stud DE: Dont throw at the stud DB. simple as it gets!!!!

  44. All the years we’ve ran this offense scoring was not a problem it was always our defense couldn’t stop nobody. Now these last 2 years our defense has been pretty solid but now our offense has a hard time scoring points. I am not a coach but the eye test tells me we have the personnel to do better on the offensive side of the ball. Just hope they can get it together so they can secure a playoff spot.

  46. You really can’t say the officiating was one sided towards nederland...the last flag was extremely late and thrown by the back judge who was 20 yards away when 2 officials on that side threw nothing...as with most games, many factors led to the outcome, most not to do with officials, but I can’t sit here and listen to png gripe about calls . Another game changing example was the late hit on our QB that causes him to miss nearly 2 full quarters...that’s impactful. entertaining game...congrats to png on the outcome
