  3. Last year was the weakest senior class WO-S has fielded since the '94 season. The Mustangs are at a better starting point now than the same time last season. The players all showed up in shape from the summer and the attitude is much improved. Nederland presents a strong challenge because of the balanced approach of their offense. WO-S faces so many slot-T teams that it's nauseating. This game will better prepare us for future games against Silsbee, Jasper, and teams in the playoffs who like to mix it up.

  4. ok Mike maybe a little homer in that opinion but no doubt hes had success as a play caller at both programs. Anahuac will be fun to watch and see if it grows.

  5. I’be got a feeling several teams going against Newton will run the ole ‘Tango Offense’. 1-2-3-kick

  12. Actually, I just spoke to Gary and he confirmed that he will be doing the WO-S/Nederland game. He was just waiting to see from Nederland if the spot he uses was still there. So we will have the link to that game up on Friday.

  13. I do understand that you might disagree with ryker's notion that the playcalling under Coach Neece is "the best in 3A." But ryker does have evidence to put him up there with others. With Kirbyville, I don't know what the issue really is, but the results of the Neece era versus the post Neece era do indicate there was a recipe that Neece had that his successors have yet to be able to replicate. As to Newton, I may be one of the few, but I think that Neece was a big cog in Newton's offensive success as he made the passing game at Newton more a part of the Eagle offense than in the past. Now, I'll have to agree that credit to that also goes to players that have graduated like Josh Foster, Tamauzia Brown and Noah Williams. But all those parts are gone and we'll have to see how the new parts fit in. This is certainly not a knock of former Newton OC Bryan Barbay as he definitely has shown his stuff at Coldspring, Newton and is currently doing so at Jasper. But yeah, Anahuac definitely needed something and I agree with ryker that Greg Neece might just be it.

  14. It should be close either way. I don’t think either team will score enough to blow the other team away.

  16. I understand fully what you're saying and I heard the same words from Herman myself.. Also i understand and know that all coaches fabricate things(lie) to kids in the moment of conversations like this . Only time will tell

  17. For that matter the teams out west Odessa Permian and Midland Lee when is the last time you heard about either one having a good run? Not sure on the Lee side of things but for Permian the difference is defense. When they were in the state championship picture their defense was always excellent...today not so much.

  20. IMO HJ's best chance at a win is against Tarkington. Coldspring game could go either way. I know nothing about the Trojans. Didn't they get a new head coach as well??

  22. td, I never realized it, but you are absolutely right. That is Mark Roberts who caught Reggie's last pass....a TD pass.

  23. From what I've read is that he wants to play and they need him. He ask the coaches to move him there so he could play. They have had crucial injuries in the running back position. His future as QB is still there and they are working on his mechanics, but gotta respect a kid who is a team player. They have him weighing in at 223 right now which is good size.

    Herman's Texas Longhorns

He is still listed as the 3rd QB on the depth chart released yesterday and my sources tell me this is just temporary at RB. Him going in at RB is in worst case scenario. Although he might see some time this weekend because Ingram is battling a slight knee sprain and Whittington is battling some flare ups from a hernia surgery he had in high school.

  31. I think I will go with Big Ned! I believe the Dogs will run the ball effectively on WOS and I also believe Big Ned will intercept the ball at least 2 times in the game. But WOS will be ready to go by the playoffs.

  32. I was sent a photo were they put 112% in big numbers on the sidelines for the home side. That really teared me up, I was very proud too see that. a nice touch.

  33. I asked Gary Stelly last week as to which game he was broadcasting and he hadn't decided yet. As far as I know, the Bulldogs' games are still being broadcast on KLVI.

  34. They're actually using hand signals getting called from the sideline with some hurry up offense with arm bands. I don't think that'll be an issue this year....

Yea, I like it too but the budget this year could only cover 95 yards of it. We have to wait till next year to get the other 5 yards! 😂 Just kidding, it’s gonna look nice when it’s done. The kiddos are pumped and can’t wait to play on it!! I do like the two tone color!

  41. New turf, new scoreboard, new coach. Cleveland could be headed in the right direction. More discipline than years past. Seems to be a buzz in Cleveland which is great for their community. Tons of athletes in Cleveland. Would be great if they had a descent season to grow on and get community backing. Good luck!

  42. No doubt Anahuac getting Greg Neece is a big upgrade. Best play caller in all of 3A is a bit over the top.

  43. I was just looking at some of the houses they have built around the Cleveland/Tarkington area just last evening. Whole area looks totally different from when I last passed thru there few years ago.

  46. You will get no argument from me there. That is why a diversified portfolio is so critical. In their search for "guarantees" , many often forget that many fixed income instruments , after taxes and inflation, provide a negative return. Part of the portfolio must be dedicated to preservation of purchasing power.
