My two cents re: ArmbandGate. There may not be evidence that stealing the armband (That’s what it was. The instant he intentionally did not return the armband to its rightful owner while knowing it wasn’t his to keep, it became a theft) helped LCM win the game, but it’s evidence that at least one LCM coach (1) stole from another team, (2) lied when he had an obligation to tell the truth, and (3) took steps to cover up his theft even while direct inquiries were being made to him about the armband’s location and what he did with it. That has to be punished. If an attorney did something like this in a trial he might be disbarred. And, the team should have had to forfeit the game. Letting LCM skate on this invites exactly the message people are making here today, that “it must not have been that big of a deal if it didn’t warrant a forfeit.” It’s very much a big deal, an astonishing example of bad faith and dishonesty from a public employee in charge of children. It was a blatant violation of sportsmanship, human decency, and the law. Most of us will remember that in 2018 PNG had to forfeit a game they won against Crosby under less severe circumstances. A coach had an iPad in the press box - Against the rules. So, even though it was agreed by the district members that there had been no effect on the game’s outcome, PNG was forced to forfeit. There was no lying, or hiding evidence by PNG as there was by LCM - it was simply, “You broke a rule and we have to send a message.” LCM broke the rules, and the district should have sent a stronger message.

So is it true or not true that the LCM coaching staff went to a Chauncey Billups coaching clinic this past summer?

I’d like it to go on record that the yahoos on this thread spewing nonsense and trying to change the subject make up what is a (very) loud minority of LCM folks. I’ve known Hunter a long time and consider him a friend. Looks like he made a mistake in the heat of battle and will have to live with the consequences. Unfortunate situation all around.

IMO, both schools looked ridiculous in this whole thing.

My disdain is BCs intentions were clear to me.... They wanted an lcm forfeiture. They weren't concerned with getting the watch returned or refunded or anything of that nature.

The UIL board all said they can see and lean towards LCM having an advantage, but didn't have enough to "go down that bumpy road" But you heard what you want to hear I'm sure.

The DEC voted to send the assistant coach to face the UIL because he did not follow procedures and turn in the watch immediately. An ethics violation. That's why they met today. The UIL mentioned that they were making a decision on personnel, but they also wanted to give their opinion on competitive advantage. They could not conclude that it made any difference in the outcome of the game. All members had all the video that was presented during the DEC to review before this morning. People have to remember that these meetings are also used to clarify things for the future and admitted that making a ruling on the outcome of the game after the DEC chose not to would lead us down a bumpy road.

I must have missed all this speed you speak of when I watched them earlier in the season.

I’ve kept quiet about this, but I talked to a BC defensive starter after the game. When asked what happened in the first half, he nailed it. “They got one of our bands and knew our plays before the snap. We went back to signaling plays in from the sideline and they couldn’t stop us.” That’s the whole “adjustment” that BC coaches made… they stopped giving the plays to LCM. Like I said… they had to cheat to beat a 4A D2 school. Did Peevey forget how to coach or do they just suck up there? You be the judge.

I personally believe there was a competitive advantage in this situation. But like the DEC and SEC ruled, there was no preponderance of evidence to prove it so therefore a forfeit wasn't warranted. I stated from the get go that I didn't think a forfeit would be warranted in this situation. Public reprimands, probation and coach suspensions? Yes. But no forfeit. Glad this is over. Now my phone can stop blowing up.

Bc sup tried to claim competitivie disadvantage because they had to turn the bands off. But also said their terminology of plays was very basic and simple. Huge disadvantage 🤣🤣🤣 for ehat were stated as "master planners" in coaches

From the tone and wording of the meeting it seems LCM was very close to losing more than an assistant coach for the season..

I think I’ll be watching Crosby at Angleton tonight on TL. Give me an idea how 11-5A may fare against 12-5A. Should be an excellent game. Don’t see a need to watch Pasadena at LP. May keep one eye on it just to see who is playing for LP is all.

I think this is the take. There’s not enough evidence to force the forfeit, but more than enough to be very suspicious and draw some (unpunishable) conclusions. While I have no dog in this fight, it’s been kinda ridiculous seeing the posts from some LCM fans equating not being able to be punished with not having done anything wrong.

I liked him last year, and could tell he had a strong arm back during pre-season. He just needed to know when to take some off and be able to finesse the ball at times. I thought should’ve started last year and this year. The move in had experience at small schools and appeared to have trouble to adjusting 5A level speed IMO. Just my two cents

Watching Austin Anderson vs Pflugerville Weiss on Texan Live. Interesting game already.

Just listened to Mike Friedman on Channel 6 Sports and this is his scenario for West Brook making the playoffs.... 1st: BU has to beat Sterling and Barber's Hill has to beat West Brook tomorrow night and BU gets the 4th and final spot 2nd: If United wins tonight and West Brook wins tomorrow night against Barber's Hill then West Brook will clinch the 3rd playoff spot and Barber's Hill getting the 4th spot because Barber's Hill beat United 25-0 head to head... DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT TO EVERYONE?

Be interesting to see how the districts shake out if all 3 stay where they belong and especially if OF bumps up.

No worse than stealing signs in baseball, BC fault for losing the device. No worse than coaches getting signals from teams on game film and if they don’t change it up it’s on them. Seems like BC is being petty to me.
