The difference is a US Senate seat is national. Yes, the same pool of voters, but way more outside money, national media attention, dirtier campaigns, dark money, bigger endorsements, bigger campaigns, etc. I would still be shocked if the democrats flipped a senate seat in TEXAS, but the GOP set it up on a tee for the dems to have the best chance.
-
Texas AG and a US Senate seat are vastly different campaigns. I've already heard republican friends saying they'd vote for Talarico. That's how bad of a candidate Cornyn/Paxton is. I will never cast a vote for Abbott or Patrick ever again and would have to hold my nose and vote R to try to save a Senate seat. Many won't even do that, they just won't show up to vote. I think this will be a lot closer than what you are expecting. But like you say...we shall see.

I strongly disagree that Talarico will be embarrassed by Paxton/Cornyn. Talarico is not Beto. He is a polished, experienced legislator, backed by the Democratic machine. He will get endorsed by national democrats and probably Joe Rogan and other big name independent thinkers. And then add a historically weak opponent in Cornyn (RINO, who pissed off most Texas conservatives with his ridiculous support of Biden gun legislation) and Paxton (crook and absolute scumbag). This one is setting up to be a nail-biter because of the failure of the Texas GOP, who's been hijacked by far right tea party religious zealots, who are more concerned with destroying public schools, subsidizing private school tuition for the wealthy, ten commandments and prayer time in school and primarying any moderate that stands in their way. You can thank looney Dan Patrick and bought and paid for Abbott for getting us to this point and giving moderate republicans and independents poor choices for candidates. It may now have serious implications on the national stage in the US Senate.

Out of curiosity, what overall grade do you give Biden for his 4 years?

I'm getting what I voted for. It's not perfect, but infinitely better than the alternative...solid B+.

One thing is true; things really don't matter to the majority of Americans. If they did, a lot more than tea would be tossed into the harbor, and streets would be lined with tarred and feathered corrupt politicians. But for clarity, are you justifying the slush fund because congress unanimously passed it (except for one Ku Klux Klan member democrat)? Why wouldn't they vote themselves more money and protection lol? While I enjoy and agree with most of your takes, I see zero justification for elected officials to use my tax dollars to defend themselves against their own scandalous behavior. Once again, it's a club and you and I ain't in it.

A couple of things here....first, congress was never intended to be a career. I don't give two craps about protecting a congressman's "career". Secondly, why does a politician get to use tax payer dollars (slush fund) to fight off allegations of wrongdoing (most cases are sexual misconduct)? If you get accused of sexual misconduct in your job, does your company pay for your lawyer? In most cases, no. Just one more reason for term limits for these leaches in Washington on both sides of the aisle.

She's a mother. Maybe instead of cosplaying some commie revolutionary protestor, she should have been focused on being a good parent to her child. Or you know....get a job. Or maybe this was her job courtesy of George Soros or some commie NGO,

I guess the big badge, handcuffs, gun and vest with huge ICE or HSE across it is not enough for someone to know who they are LOL. That's a clown take. If your ilk weren't out there doxxing and threatening them, they wouldn't have to wear a mask.

With that logic, would you have a problem with a school just 4 off from being in a lower division "opting down"....you know, for "travel" purposes? (I realize it's not an option). UIL should just make people play in the classification they are supposed to be in. It's ridiculous to "opt up" to get an easier path. -
Some interesting games on tap tonight

It's been a while since I've caught a game in Sour Lake. I know it was an extremely tough place to play in the Todd Sutherland era. Is it still like that?
