Don't really consider it a win. More like a positive loss that may indicate winning toward the end of the season when it counts based on the level the guys seem to be playing at right now.2 points -

Why are you so hard pressed for my opinions on this game? My team isn't in that district and we don't even play yall. You seem to have a weird infatuation with what's going on in Beaumont than your team. Well, I say your team real loosely since we know you have like 5 teams and you jump ship when things get too bad. But hey... 🤷♂️2 points -

Ok, just finished. Silsbee offense - The have some players. Their line didn't show a lot of dominance but I don't think they needed to. #1 out of the backfield with that I formation is nice. They block it up well and huge holes. Passing was good but those deep rainbow passes are going to be risky against that Huffman safety. Team so far revolves around #4, #1, and #40. Going to be tough trying to stop all 3. #16 is strong too. Nothing to talk about after middle of the 3rd. I think it was subs in for offense. Silsbee defense - Hard to take anything away from the game so far. The defense for Vidor will always be custom made. Silsbee schemed it perfectly: Flow D-line hard slants to heavy side. LBs to follow motion / move up to replace D-Lineman. Boxing ends. Vidor Defense - Hagar, I feel you. This was tough to watch. On almost every Silsbee gain, 3-4 Vidor players got their hands on the ball carrier. And not like the Silsbee player was high stepping out of tackles, All he had to do was not stop or trip. DB's were tripping and running into each other. They are not pursuing the ball. Probably why they keep missing tackles Vidor Offense - When the linemen could get to the LBs, they were productive. If you go back at look at Vidor's formation. When they are balanced without motion, the D-Line goes to base and the blocking assignments get simple. Vidor linemen at least get to the 2nd level and the ball can move. The LB's lost their keys and had to read before attacking. Lots of missed blocks for backs and pullers. Matchup with Huffman - The Huffman defense should have a better game against Silsbee than what Vidor brought last week. But, if the tackling from Huffman does not get better than against Spring Legacy, Silsbee is going to put up a lot. Falcon offense is better at moving the ball. But the key is still about blocking those inside LBs. I don't think Huffman can work outside without getting good performance from the inside. Silsbee LBs are too fast and physical. Score Prediction - I ain't doing it....I've got a feeling...Naw....I ain't doing it.1 point

In the case of Madison/Westbury, one campus could be 9th and the other 10-12. I'm not saying building bigger schools shouldn't happen. I am saying creating a new school will have issues getting it staffed with the teacher shortage. Most of the statewide shortage is happening in the inner city schools and not the suburbs. That's where I see school districts having to consolidate some of their schools eventually because of shortage and money.1 point -

Trust me, I understand & can relate to that. Look at our current/recent hire situation here in Jasper. For a first time HC coaching his first game at his Alma Mater this past week it was a Helluva Helluva! Coach absolutely nailed it making the call to throw the ball vs sending out a very capable kicker. btw,(by the way) if you have not heard about that scenario, Jasper was down 15-14 against Houston Kincaid. We were on about their 35 yard line the last play of the game and won with a hail Mary type throw to end zone After a couple deflections a DAWG pulled it in. take care.1 point -

I have had 2 kids come through this football program since 2014. 1 2018 grad & 1 2024 grad. I haven’t seen and cannot in the foreseeable future see teams avoiding us. Scheduling conflicts always exist and it becomes hard to find games at times but I don’t believe it’s due to being a powerhouse.1 point

I Agree, I would think not being so predictable should be figured into the game plan but I don’t want to start bashing coaches. They know all the variables going on with the team way more than a fan imo. You still have to be more physical in that offense. It’s still one loss against a very good football team.1 point -

Agree, and agree. It’s not the same Slot T we’ve been running. And like you, why have the kid passing rolling to the left is inexplicable. I watched the video of the 2019 game against Crosby were we passed more than I ever remember (about 260 yards). All were rolling to the right or drop back. And the kids blocking last year put defenders on the ground. Did the rules just change? And now our go to play is what was referred to as “student body left” (or right). And for heaven sakes, throw a pass on first down once in a while. And do we even have a screen pass in the playbook? Forgive this old man. He’s confused and frustrated.1 point -

It's is not about running the spread or the slot T, in fact with rule changes to blocking we can do very little cutting anymore which is why you didn't see many tigers on the ground Friday. We don't truly run the slot T anymore there is no mis direction it is all straight forward here we come, mis direction is what makes the slot T work never knowing who has the ball linebackers have to fill gaps instead of running to the ball every play. My thoughts on this is we don't develop qbs it's a new kid every yr so they are learning the offense on the fly instead of having a kid that played it since a freshman and knows it like the back of his hand. By no means do I believe we need to line up in shotgun with 5 wrs but also given time and working on it I think we got the kids that could do it. What I am saying though if we are going to run the slot T than run the true slot T not a knocked down version of it that makes it easy to defend, and for the love of god when we do try to throw why would you think it is a good idea to roll the qb left against his throwing shoulder1 point -

Mr. Thornton Melon reacted to Bigdog for a topic
I don't think it necessarily has to be one scheme or another but could be a hybrid scheme or maybe slot t with a few wrinkles. (combining some sets or play action) . The main thing would be developing the QB and WRs and not just throw on obvious 2nd or 3rd and long situations. The biggest issue with this offense is if they get behind the sticks due to penalty or loss of yards and trying to make that up with either sticking to the slot t or making an obvious throw.1 point -

For real tho, I understand what you are saying. But having only little over 100 kids in all of high school. It does mean a lot to them to beat a school with 3 times more students. And it does help with the kids confidence. I’m brand new to this and this forum and it looks like HD section has some negativity towards it not even related to the kids or football team. Nothing but positivity over here. I think this section and the school needs some positive light. One thing I do know, those kids played hard and passed up all expectations on the first game. Congratulation to the coaches and mainly the kids playing so hard and getting a W. And that’s as far as it goes. now it’s on to the next one.1 point -

When Crueder took over the offense we started this current philosophy of how the Slot-T is ran. Every coordinator since then emulated this bad habit. It was a methodical offense under DuBois ,where he used plays to set up other plays and the first half play calling was used to open up things in the second half. They went to to hurry up because Liberty Hill went to it ! Years ago when DuBois/Mathews first Liberty Hill to learn the offense it was different but teams started figuring out how to stop it. People still believe that Vidor is incapable of running another type of offense and that's completely absurd . They tried to throw a little in the SHOT-T days but people scuffed at the idea. The truth is that the naysayers just didn't want their kids to be there during the transition phase to endure the growing pains. They abandon the idea after one year but where has the Slot-T got us in the many years it has been installed ? If we would have spent that much time on the spread then I think we could of figured it out. Close minded Vidor doesn't play with passion and desire anymore. Arm tackling is the norm. I don't think they are buying into the coaching philosophy anymore.1 point -

The current qb looks like he has a pretty decent arm. They didn't really call many plays for him to throw down field. Mostly just screen passes. With his speed and athleticism. If he shows he can throw the ball down field. Then you could easily call a pass play spreading all the wr down field and if nothing ain't there let him pick a hole and take off.. that's always the best qb runs is the ones that's supposed to be a pass cause all the wr's have the defense spread out down the field. When you take the snap and just take off and run, a good defense will pick that up and stop it.1 point
