  2. Well, I guess this will be my last post as a proud parent of a Pirate football player...next year I'll just be a fan. I'm blessed that I was able to hold my son on the 3yd line as the pain of his first, true broken heart sank in. Yep, just like that...It's over. I'm so proud of these kids for what they worked their tails off to accomplish this year. It was the pleasure of my life to watch them work, compete and grow into an unbelievable young men. I love ya J-Bo #6.

  4. I didn't expect to be shut out ether, when we got in the red zone we came away empty and didn't stop them enough on defense. Carthage RB (2) could shift gears as smooth as a Lamborghini, several times we had him for a loss and couldn't touch him. Their QB (12) was accurate and precise in the pocket or under pressure which he had to get away from many times. No one player impressed me on Carthage defense, but the defense impressed me a lot. Reminded me of the WOS defense in 2016 but with more size up front. Silsbee had our chances to score, got inside the red zone then a penalty pushed us back and we couldn't recover after another penalty. Got to the five yard line (1st and Goal) only to have an ill advised pass into a crowd in the end zone and a great toe touch INT on the side line to kill that drive. We knew that Carthage was a steep mountain to climb. Each time we would get traction we would lose our grip. I'm proud of our team, because of injuries was had to play a lot of underclassmen many freshman and soph. and we are the better for it. It was good to see the Seniors return a add a boost to our team. We only lost to three top teams in 4AD2, two #2s and a #1. Wish we would have been full strength in the first two games. But in the end you want to play top teams and to become a top team. Take the Thanksgiving holiday week off, offseason starts Nov. 30.

  5. I was catching flack from some folks (including some Memorial fans) for having the Titans so high in my rankings early in the season. Have had them #2 behind North Shore for several weeks now.

  6. 21 on Lufkin - 23 on HJ Fairly common for an up and down game for both teams to reach the double bonus... (Lots of possessions to call fouls on) Lady Hawks tried some different stuff out today. Got sloppy at times on the defensive end, leading to about 10 fsilly fouls that we usually dont make. Will get cleaned up... This group is fun to watch... They compete and play HARD!

  13. Hey man, Vidor had a good defense. Just about every year... but the offense is literally offensive.

  14. So the Chain Gang got sidelined by the China Virus then took a beating from China Spring and I’m just realizing that this whole damn thread is definitely racist... Should probably lock it up, this has digressed into a sociopolitical conversation... I believe @SmashMouthwould agree.

  15. PAM played a few games without #99 and #13 on defense. Numbers could have been better if they played all 8. Especially against #2 from REL and #22 from GBall

  17. I think it's how one plays defense. For example: Back in 1993 Silsbee played Nederland in a non district game. Silsbee running back Jay McGuire ran for a school record 454 yards rushing with 6 total TD's. He had over 600 all purpose yards in the game. Nederland QB Spurlock passed for over 350 yards in the game. Silsbee won the game, 48-44. Several weeks later, Silsbee played Nederland in the playoffs. Silsbee played the game without their star RB McGuire because he suffered a season ending injury the week before. Silsbee decided to change their defensive philosophy of zone coverage to man coverage and blitzed just about every down. The result, 10 sacks of the QB and two INT's that led to a 34-7 Silsbee win. It's not the offenses IMO, it's how you play defense.

  23. Especially if you throw McCain and Adam’s around him. Lol. That kind of talent doesn’t come around very often especially for a 4A school. Expectations are sometimes too high when the talent is gone. Silsbee will be fine. Never remember a year when they weren’t competitive....I have old newspaper articles from 1927 about them. I don’t remember that year but just read about it. Lol

  38. Why the heck is it racist? I ate Chinese food last night off my mother in laws China in China off Hwy 90. How in hell is calling the virus that originated in China the China Virus racist? That borders on stupidity, and you’re a really smart guy. Btw, you ever heard of the German measles that originated in Germany? The West Nile Virus that originated from the west Nile in Uganda? A parasite called a Guinea worm that comes from, you guessed it, Guinea in Africa? Ebola that came from a river called the Ebola river? Lyme’s disease which left my sister in a wheelchair for years from Lyme Connecticut? Explain your sensitivity and how the freak it’s racist to say China or Wuhan virus/flu? Go ahead, I’m listening.

PN-G's defense is porous. I've watched BH play. They could beat them. #2 for REL may have lead the district in rushing. With the Dayton transfer at QB, Lee would have challenged for district. Period

  40. After the Nederland scrimmage, I was so ready to run Morgan and Co. off and look at PA now. With a week off, they have a chance to be the 3rd undefeated regular season team to come out of PA since 1980 and the 1st since 1993 SFA........ However, District 10.......

  42. Yeah but you're talking about the almighty University of Carthage. They are the only team in the state who could forfeit next week and still advance.

Massive effort by the Dogs...they did not play a clean and near perfect game, but they never folded, kept punching, overcame some hellaciously bad calls late in the game and got the W...super proud of the effort and that is something to build on for the rest of this season...gritty and I love it

  47. Isn't dancing on the grave of a team that your team had nothing to do with burying so fun!? Even leaving out Carthage, I just wonder how those that are accusing WO-S faithful of using the "excuse card" would have reacted had the shoe been on the other foot tonight and it would have been China Spring with the 6 starters, including the offensive line......the......entire.......offensive line and the Mustangs came out victorious. Actually, I don't have to wonder that much as those same folks would have flooded the board with comments such as "well, you beat a team that had 6 starters out which is the only way you could have beat them." Those folk's hypocrisy aside, whether you think the starters being out did or did not matter in the outcome of this game really doesn't matter. The scoreboard is the final arbiter of who is the better team on a particular night, it always has been. And it is draconian arbiter with no compassion as to who a team does or does have playing. It only measures the performance of those on the field at the time of the game. And the West Orange-Stark Mustang team on the field was the best that WO-S had to offer tonight. That might not have been the case back in September. Heck, it might not have been the case last week. But it was tonight. China Spring beat the best that WO-S had to offer and for that they get my congratulations and my best wishes for the rest of the season. I think that the impact China Spring had on Region III was overshadowed by Carthage's moving into the Region. They may not have to stay in that shadow much longer. I am always proud West Orange-Stark alum but there are times you really beam. Of course, the biggest of those times came in the years 1986, 1987, 2015 and 2016. I must say, that have been very few, if any, times that my Mustang pride has been real high in a loss. That changed tonight. No, for one of the few times in the last decade, the Mustangs won't have football practice for Thanksgiving. But tonight, they showed that they had learned some life lessons well and may have very have taught some tonight. At the very least, they affirmed some. 1. Always show up 2. Never quit. Yes, even though my alma mater won't even sniff the regional finals this year, I can affirm that I am a proud graduate of West Orange-Stark High School. I am proud of Coach Thompson and the coaching staff and I am proud of the kids that suited up tonight. The easy way out would have been a call to Coach Bell and say "we are just missing too many players" and forfeit the game. The fact is, we are just not raised that way in the communities of Orange, West Orange and Pinehurst. Now, let's be sure, there are some that will crucifying Coach Thompson for even the entertaining the thought of playing tonight. I am sure that resident Beaumont Enterprise coronabros Jorge Ramos and Matt Faye, who, although they will deny it citing themselves as "sports reporters", rooted tirelessly against playing football at any level, have already sent out umpteen tweets calling his decision wreckless and will soon publish a 1000 word column on how WO-S' fate in the playoffs is indisputable proof that not one down of high school football should have been played. I think tonight showed just the opposite. Todd Broussard West Orange-Stark Class of 1986

  50. YOU still worried about the liberal/socialist boogie man. Meanwhile the real powers that be are laughing at you. They don't need to fight some rural guerrilla war. They got the banks. they got the federal bank. Two thirds of the SC is there's. a Good 30% of the legislature is theirs. They got you is a Hegelian head lock and you don't even know it. They got Biden, they got Pelosi, AOC. Pense. TRUMP, whether he knows it or not. They're just waiting for one good knock out punch, one good calamity to panic everyone so that they will give up what few vestiges of personal freedoms and democracy is left. When that happens they totally got you. They hate the US constitution. They are on record many times stating so. The U.S constitution will be totally repudiated. It is almost there right now.
