  1. Great run by BU I think this years run was the most impressive of them all, because no one had BU picked to win the region. They showed the heart of a champion tonight. Also I’m confident that BU would’ve won state had Dotson been healthy based off what I seen from the other 3 teams today. Either way nothing to hang your head over, this group will be forever remembered in Beaumont.

  2. What a gutty gutty performance by Payia and United. Down their leader Dotson and then Green fouling out, ended up just too tall a task to get the win. Great 4 year run for BU and Coach Green.

  4. Incredible run by this senior class, and so unlucky to have to finish that run without Dotson. BU showed incredible heart tonight, and gave Stony Point all they wanted and more. I’m confident in saying had Kayde been healthy we’d be watching BU in another state final. Either way, United has everything to be proud of, and nothing to hang their head about.

  5. Honestly y’all are not that good at all 😂 BU by 12 if Kayde Dotson plays easily ! Respectfully y’all almost got beat by 1 one person

  6. It all came down to Big Wes missing two free throws late in the 4th and Ashton green fouling out early. BU had chances with this team. Payia played lights out. Nonetheless, heck of a season and heck of a run.

  8. It’s hard to believe that the Carter Cowboys are okay with it. At any rate we’re done with it. And wouldn’t it be sweet to send them off with a loss!

  9. they could never make up their mind what kind of sports they wanted to emphasize after the great basketball teams of the early 80s. after having a 25-4 record and losing only two games to La Tech and 2 one point road games there was no NCAA bid. That was when Pat Foster called the NCAA selection committee "white-collar criminals". At that time they explored being independent or joining another type of conference. baseball also suffered greatly with the departure of Jim Gilligan in the late 80s. He returned to restore some of the luster in the early 90s.

  11. Gotcha. The coaches son #34 is a freshman and scored 27 of their 40 in the semifinal. That’s two studs that have 3 more years together

  12. Unfortunately guys I will not be able to update the rest of this game or possibly the next game (5A championship). Got something to tend to on a personal note. Hopefully I will be back to update 5A game. I will be back to post the game thread for Silsbee's game.

  13. Ponder out played Hitchcock for 3 1/2 quarters. That last 4 minutes of the 4th was not good. Hated to see them lose it like that.

  14. Ponder got up by moving the ball some and getting smart shots off. In the 4th it seemed like they abandoned that and tried to kill off the game by eating clock, and Hitchcock’s defense was too good for them to be able to pass the ball around up top for very long. It kept leading to turnovers and easy baskets for Hitchcock

  15. According to cowboy, United would have won if Dotson was Kobe.

  16. Final 53-49 Hitchcock Hitchcock repeats as the 3A State Champion! Ponder scored just 1 point in last 6 minutes of the game.

  20. 20 years & 270 lbs ago (sorry Mike) there was Michael Dabney. It is ashame they didn’t have digital cameras then. If they did this whole who was the best argument would be over fast. Just my opinion.

  23. I would have been very disappointed in him… I thought it was in very poor taste when Pelosi did it. The difference is that Pelosi doesn’t represent me or my party… Johnson does- and it’s my obligation to point out when they fall short of what I expect of them. I know that’s a concept lost on the right these days, unless somebody isn’t being MAGA enough. Then the knives come out. You know what the police call an escalation of force? When somebody does something, the other side has to do it back, but harder. What’s next? The Ds pelting the next R President with tomatoes during the SOTU address? Y’all seem to forget that for every action, there will be a more forceful response. It’s funny how y’all all think that your opinions are the correct ones, so anything you want to do or say is justified. Republicans still stupidly believe that their childish behavior, since their friends all approve, is okay. It’s not. Just like in 2020 when Trump lost the undecided vote (and therefore the election) in large part due to his behaviors in the debates, the actions of REPUBLICANS on the biggest of stages did nothing but alienate voters. For what? So the most ignorant of us all can say “Biden deserved every bit of the heckling he got.” What a dumb way to think. What’s comical is that y’all actually believe you’re the good guys.

  32. I think Harris is in the top 3 with McArthur and Bush. If he'd kept shooting the 3 ball consistently and had a better mid range jumper, I think he'd be #1 without a doubt.

  33. Does every gold star parent get to go to the state of the union? No. So how did the most vocal of the gold star parents get in? Some Republican congressman invited him in hopes that he’d do exactly what he did. If that’s not milking that man’s grief for political purposes, then I guess I don’t know what it is. Why do all of the outbursts keep coming from “our” side? Because character and decorum don’t matter to Republicans anymore…. Just who can be the biggest anus. Mike Johnson should strip MTG of any committee spots she currently has.

  41. Unfortunately we will have only one running back( no.3, who made all district as freshman) with D1 talent next year. I look forward to watching Woodville with 3. Hopefully Newton can make the playoffs next year. It would be good to finish in the top four like we did last year.

  43. Surprise surprise, somebody’s daddy is unhappy their kid don’t get the trophy. Couple weeks and we are still on this. Sells is far and away a better overall player, him getting the MVP was obvious. The award is voting on my coach without a kid in the race so Joub and Whitmire wouldn’t have voted. Watching the two kids play it isn’t hard to figure out why one kid got the votes and why the other didn’t. As far as Newcomer goes, we are 14 months into this. If you want to put something on the wall in the den, I’ll send over the very basic certificate that was the award. It won’t be hard to open Microsoft PowerPoint and change the name. I can assure you, Hunter Courts and his family care a lot more about his team winning games than what 5 Coaches thought about him and what individual accolades he can brag on social media about..

  44. I wish I knew who it was, but unfortunately I don't. However, the connection with the kids and the community should trump "college experience" unless there is an obvious disparity in knowledge AND there is intimate knowledge of the coaches ability to connect with the kids and the community. If there isn't someone with first hand knowledge of the CHARACTER and LEADERSHIP ability of the "college guy" then they better do a deep dive into his background. Coaching Lumberton High School kids is nothing similar to coaching recruited college players.

  47. in a thread discussing a 17-year-old high school kid's injury, you posted that if Kobe had the SAME injury, he would play and probably drop 40. That's the literal definition of comparing one to the other. Let's get back to the game.

  48. I realize there are issues, both ways, but it is also "their" money if they are a taxpayer. I think the only thing that would improve a poorly managed school district is competition. I think it's an option to consider if someone needs one, at the end of the day, it's about the kids, not an ISD.
