Also want to say this: not everyone is cut out to be a Head Coach. Some people can be one of the best coordinators you've ever seen, but they get a Head Coach role and things roll downhill. Some folks are better suited for a coordinator position 🤷🏾‍♂️ just my opinion. Also coaching in your hometown isn't always the best thing. 😉

Buna was under the gun and used the spread option during multiple games depending on what defense they were playing against. But I am assuming you didn’t actually watch a Buna game this year.

College station will make the long trip to Angleton to take on the Wildcats after finishing the regular season a week early on Halloween at home against Weiss, a game which I watched. They would not have won that game without forcing 4 turnovers by Weiss in the second half, all of which they turned into points.They are not a very big team but have a 275-pound kicker. Rushing seems to be their forte although they do pass some and they run a lot of QB keepers. They used 2 QBs in the game. Angleton will have to protect the ball to have success. They seemed to have trouble stopping the pass, but Weiss had a number of dropped passes in the second half. Angleton, after losing their QB will probably mostly run too. I assume we will see a lot of wildcat plays and hopefully may get some special teams scores. It will be interesting to see what jV players will be called up. Congratulations to the Angleton JV and freshmen teams for finising as 10-0 district champions.

Anyone else remember their bootcamp company number like it was yesterday? I can’t remember a lot of thing these days but boy can I rip that off fast.

This Brian Kelly stuff is pretty crazy. They are now claiming the AD didn't have the power to fire him, so he was never fired. He just quit showing up so they are now firing him with cause and not paying the $54 mil owed. I'm not sure that will hold up in court, and don't think it looks great for the new coach coming in.

Good luck, Dogs. Having the home field should certainly help when the teams are that far apart.

Really like that kid. He competes his butt off every time I have watched him play . Really impressed me at the fall league this year. I am a fan

To finish the season ranked in the top 10 in the state is a very nice accomplishment for all of the teams that made it. Now it's one game at a time, either win or go home and hang the gear up 'til next season.

That's what I was wondering. I didn't want to have to pay for a month of NFHS--since I'm already paying for DCTX/TL--to see games being produced by TL. Some games in the past were supposed to only be on NFHS, but they wound up being produced and then broadcast on TL also. I've never seen a broadcast that was actually produced by NFHS themselves. Not sure they even have the capability. Last year, I paid for NFHS, and every game was also on Texan Live. So, I said ‘heck’ may as well just subscribe to DCTX/Texan Live package and get it all.

NFHS has all the rights to Texas High School playoff games. They will use other production companies to broadcast on their platform. I am curious as to why the game is not listed on TL if they are being used to produce broadcast. Several changes to broadcast policies were put into play starting this season. Team school broadcasts now has to get permission from NFHS. Independent broadcast entities have to do the same as always. It's basically why we decided not to go down that video broadcast route here. So much simpler just doing audio.

Yes, Tarkington "just hasnt got the right coach yet" (for many decades), similar to "Huntington". FYI, Tarkington has a great coach now. You might want to look internally as opposed to blaming every coach in the history of Tarkington ISD. ***Who was the coach prior to Belt? Is he a good coach?

Barrow had zero discipline. The Bulldogs were penalized a ton when he was head coach especially with cheap shot personal foul penalties

I didn’t say he was a bad coach. For whatever reason, the program wasn’t making any definite forward steps. Sometimes it’s a bad match, or he should have had more variety in his coaching experience (he worked under exactly one head coach). Perhaps he didn’t know or wouldn’t do some of the things that Uncle Larry had done. He only had three total playoff wins in seven years. Zero postseason wins since 2020, despite leading with strong seasons in 2017, 2018, and 2020. He finished with four or less wins three times, and two of those were his last two years. The trend was bad. It’s just hard to make the argument Nederland wasn’t at least as good trying someone else.

The future should look bright for the cougars. Hit that off season hard. Get more kids out for track.

WingT/SlotT has growing pains and you have to be patient. Coach taylor came in and went 3-7 his first year at Hardin, 7-3 the second year with a play off appearance, and 10-0 currently in his third year. This group of seniors were all sophomores learning this style offence. It takes the kids buying into the coach and style of offense. Javion Whatley (#0) one of our 1-2 punch RB was the starting Center in 8th grade, put in the work and look what he has accomplished. Buna is young and it showed several times during the year, but they showed improvement through out the whole season. I think they will be vastly improved next year and even better the next. I can see them making the playoffs in the 2026/2027

They will not be as good as this year but they also want be as bad as you think they will be, The whole offensive line is coming back, & QB is back.

The Democrats whined because they lost the last election. They don’t have the votes to get their way so they held America hostage for a month and a half, had benefits cut for some people, got others furloughed, screwed up air traffic for…… absolutely nothing. It was an attempt to get around the legislative process. In other words, we don’t have the votes to get our way so we will stomp our feet in anger and have people hurt so that we can do what we don’t have the votes to do!! The second in charge of the Democrats in the House (minority whip) literally said that this was their only way to get around not having the votes to pass their agenda. They don’t like that elections have consequences. I guarantee that the Republicans didn’t go along with Obamacare but they didn’t have the votes to stop it. That’s the way it works. So after several weeks of causing suffering for many people, with no results, 8 Democrats finally gave in, knowing that it was suffering inflicted for show. Will they use the same tactic in a few months?

These are always kinda tough to predict. I think HF wins in a close one. La Marque has improved a lot this year. Their sophomore QB has similar numbers to ours, and their running game is better. But they’ve played a much softer schedule, and have greatly padded their stats in 5 games against complete cupcakes. HF played one cupcake. LM lost to 2/3 of the quality teams they’ve played, and that Huffman win has lost some value over the course of the year. One common opponent in Hitchcock, who HF beat and who beat LM by 3 touchdowns. And is that close loss to Columbia last week a good loss (like I felt HF’s loss to WOS was), or is Columbia just an average team also benefiting from a weak 6-game district schedule?

I feel like this district gets a bad wrap because of who we match up with in the first round. There are a lot of 4A D1 districts that would get swept by Kilgore and company.

I don’t see anyone saying HJ and Liberty are running from competition? I guess it’s only a talking point about the Cards because they’re winning the district. Nobody complaining about getting easy district wins from HJ and Lib. are they? G.B.R.

I’m kidding, of course. But I think we’d have made the playoff almost certainly, and had competitive games with the other playoff teams in the D2 district. I don’t feel like looking back through the snapshot thread. Where are they thinking bc’s numbers will place them at realignment? I read on Smoaky that the unofficial name of the rule that’s gonna eliminate the opt-up is “The BC Rule.” They don’t want smaller teams like us bullying softer teams.
