  1. I'm not sure if you have kids (Honestly I hope not with your response), but I do and I thank God he is still with me. I have two good friends, one lost her first born Son(to a work accident) and the other to a drug overdose. The pain that causes does not go away....EVER. That pain is so severe, if you have kids or don't, you can't even attempt to understand their pain. They are reminded several times a year (every holiday, birthday and special event) for the rest of their life they lost their kid. So, if that guy Republican or Democrat got in to yell at the President over the death of his Son, I support that 150%.....and you should too. Life is short, and you never know if your kid might lose their life and you have that same pain. Everything is not politics, and those lives and deaths are real.

  7. I know the all district selection argument has always been “it’s about recognizing the kids” which is true. Personally I think it should be recognition of the very best. A reward for hard work and performance. Selection of 20 all district players in a 7 team district waters down the award for the players who are actually deserving. Pick 5 players on 1st team and include them as the superlative players. Pick 5 on the 2nd team and you’ll actually start recognizing kids for their accomplishments again. Under no circumstance would I open the selection process to parents and slide shows and stats. You’d have lil Johnnys Little Dribbler game winning shot on the projector. JMO for what it’s worth as a fan.

  9. All in all though, I’m pretty F’d up bout Kayde injury man. And I can only imagine how he feels senior year having to watch his team from the sidelines fight for a state championship as a SETX sports fans & Beaumont fan I’m devastated myself ! But from what I heard the kids are in good spirit and ready to prove everybody wrong who’s counting them out !

  20. Being a college coach doesn’t make you more qualified, in fact, it would make you less, in my opinion. It’s completely different. In this case, “qualified,” would be someone who has shown loyalty and understanding of this level of football and what it takes to succeed in this area at said school. It seems, from an external point of view, that they are overlooking someone who is a great guy, great football mind, loves the school/kids, and is respected, in order to go for a more “flashy” hire. This is a slippery slope, and not valuing loyalty can create a revolving door and constant losing seasons. Even if someone comes in and does well, it will make the job a stepping stone—no assistant will ever think they can get it. Their last hire wasn’t flashy at the time, he was a 4A d2 coordinator with no HC experience, yet it worked. It’s no secret he inherited the most talented group L-town has seen in awhile, but it begs to question why the change in attitude. Perhaps success has got to certain people’s heads. Very odd

  21. Purposely mispronounced? Give me a break! The guy is completely out of touch, yet you defend him. We need to vote what’s best for the country and not with snowflake feelings. We can’t take another 4 years of this in office.

  23. Well, Lumberton is not failing to provide a proper education. Neither are the majority of the schools in our area where I live. This is a political move with the ruse of being used to keep liberal indoctrination away from our kids. While I agree with keeping our kids from being led down the happy blue path, I don't agree with the way they are trying to do it. Texas Conservatives (of which I am) are simply doing this to garner support from the right. If you think they really give two craps about your kids, my kids, any kids, then you are gullible (which I don't believe you are). You're a smart guy. I agree with the vast majority of things you post. We are being given a poor solution which will raise taxes in the end and could possibly be harmful to a lot of middle class families on down to the lower class. There can be other ways to do it than school vouchers. From a guy that doesn't like paying any more taxes than I have to, I am definitely against it. I am also against fixing one problem by causing many more problems.

They have had some meetings in public. But they would Never want dads, moms, and pawpaws bringing video and flow charts to show why little johnny should get an award. the coaches bring stats and score books to the meeting. They put up numbers for who they want for each award. It's not back woods politicking. Ask your head coach who they thought should win those awards,

  26. Did anyone tear up the SOTU document? Can anyone ever look more ridiculous than that? It was even criminal but who will prosecute? This SOTU address was nothing more than a political campaign ad. Biden was reading a teleprompter. I didn’t tune in because there was a Popeye cartoon marathon on another channel. Anyway, I get my true SOTU on the news everyday. I don’t need some fool telling me lies and grinning that stupid smile.

  32. That was understood from jump street. We uplift our own and do not bring them down. Enough of that goes on in the world. Again I wasn’t comparing. Just making a comment about Kobe. And from what I understand it’s more of a laceration and not an avulsion fracture. Two completely different kinds of injury. Kayde I’m sure wants to play very badly regardless the extent of that injury. God bless him 🤲🏽

  36. Let's make one thing perfectly clear. I have no vote, just an opinion. Like everyone. I honestly don't have any real issues with the all district teams. I also don't think it's a "travesty" when it comes to all district selections. They are what they are. Much bigger things in life to be concerned about. People just can't take these type things personally. It's not worth getting worked up about.

I am confused why an arbitrary individual award that is non-monetary is such a big deal to you. Everyone now thinks they should be recognized for every little thing they do. How bout these kids just go play the game and have fun and not need constant reinforcement and ego boosting? I promise they won't get that when they go to work. Why do you believe the votes have gone differently than you believe they should?

  38. Because she still can’t. A voucher won’t cover rides to school (wherever that may be), uniforms, the entirety of tuition, they don’t have free lunch programs, etc, etc… A voucher won’t help a mom in a rough place get her genius into a a private school that doesn’t exist in that area. But it will help that guy in river oaks with the tuition bill on his three kids that he’s already paying. You just have to ask yourself “why?” Why are they fighting so hard for this program? What’s the motivation? We all agree that anything that strips money from public schools is a bad thing, right? If the schools lose 5% of their students to private schools, they’re going to have their funding cut, right? But their expenses won’t go down. The only way for this to work is if we raise local taxes to subsidize them for the funds that the state is redirecting to the voucher program… that’s what no one wants to explain. You just have to ask yourself “why are they fighting so hard,” and the answer is this… everybody complains “why should I have to pay school taxes? I don’t even have kids in school!” The fat cats got somebody to listen, and “school choice” became the cause that politicians have to get done.

  42. First of all, in regards to the #1 seed game. I know that Orangefield wanted to flip and not play but Kountze said no. They wanted to play the game. So Orangefield had to agree to play or concede the #1 seed. As for the superlatives go, I actually thought that Whitmire and Joubert should have been Co-COY. They both did tremendous jobs with their respective teams. I usually don't like Co's but in this case I think it's deserving and would have been the right thing to do. I think the coaches got the MVP right. IMO, Sells is the best player and performed that way all season. I think Scales getting Offensive MVP is right on the money and Wrinkle getting Defensive was the correct call too. IMO, Wrinkle was more valuable to his team but isn't the scorer that Scales is. This is based on some of the games I have watched live and on video. When I talk to folks at the games it's always brought up how Wrinkle is Orangefield's "glue guy" (does it all) but just doesn't have the offensive game that Scales has. All in all, I think the coaches have it right. Just my opinion. No shade thrown anywhere.
