  1. Considering the recent bond failure, I wouldn't look forward to anything like this in Silsbee anytime soon. They need a new middle school first and foremost.

  5. Why hurry hurry and rush a hire? There is still plenty of time… this is a critical time in NISD. Don’t want to rush and hire the first person and the whole program takes 5 more steps back than where it currently is… something NISD may dig themselves a hole and never get out of..

  8. TD has no interest in coming back to this area. His son and grandkids are at SLC , and daughter close too. Realistically, what proven HC is coming here? Ned will likely get a coordinator looking to move up, kinda like the Injuns. And hopefully as good. jmo

  9. Nederland does not have the athletes at this time. Nederland will probably never win state again, regardless of what magic wand the new coach will be waving. The odds are against 5A2 schools who only have one 5A2 in their town winning state. PNG is an exception. UIL has been allowing these transfers to go on and larger cities with multiple school have the advantage. I wonder how many UIL people making these decisions live in a large city with multiple schools. There needs to be a law suit against UIL.

  12. Should be interesting. He is one of the great players of Macarthur during the mid-late 1980s. The alumni base will be excited to have him as the HC.

    **COACHING CAROUSEL**

I know you are probably being sarcastic but, that shouldn’t even be a question. Everybody knows Nederland is not going to pull in a high quality coach. Facilities and an administration that doesn’t care about athletic’s and a community that makes it tough to pass bonds to upgrade anything is not a very attractive job. Plus they will not pay the money that will be required to get a good quality guy. If somehow they convince another guy like Neuman to come in. He won’t stay long when he sees how tough it is to get anything done around there.

  15. It’s like they reload! When I coached Little Dribblers back in the day and we went to Nationals, they always had awesome teams! They have a great program there - little league thru high school!

  16. they don’t need to rush and make a bad hire. but your post makes it sound like you think Nederland and their applicants are on the same time frame, which is not the case. Those guys are applying at other places, so Nederland better figure out who they want quick, or risk losing them to another job. So while I agree with you that it’s critical that Nederland hires the right guy, it’s also critical that they make the hire before the right guy takes a job somewhere else.

  17. If this ends up being the districts, I see us covering all of these except: 22-6A 10-5A DI 10-4A DI gets covered because of long time schools Huffman and Livingston.

  25. Huffman came out in a zone defense and totally frustrated the Horns. HF went 7/30 from three. Huffman only attempted 8 threes, making 4. They were determined to work it inside. Both teams made some significant runs during the game but in the end, Huffman made the free throws down the stretch to put it away. Very good win for the Falcons.

  28. & that game it looked as if Green said he don’t want nobody but Kasen with the ball & every time they play Cita it seems only one person can do something with the ball & even it’s starting to look like even the BU players themselves feel like that !

  31. If a coach is hired and set in place before spring break… Which it very well seems to be before it, Nederland will be ok and I’m fine with it. TBH. Any new coach I’m sure has a few of his buddies ready to ride with him to wherever they go, they will come in and start laying down the ground work from coming back from spring break to first day of fall practice is a lot of time… especially with summer workouts. Hopefully the leaders on the football team is encouraging their teammates to get in that weight room and run track and hold each other accountable cause it doesn’t seem that the current coaching staff is..

  33. Here's hoping the new school will spark the long over due move Nederland has needed, flush the boomers out, get some young vision in there. Have the kids run broadcast (the last broadcasting crew was dog water) NDN Press makes it look like ESPN, not the 1990s. Anyway, the school was long overdue (why did it get axed in 09? The boomers) but my age group was old enough to vote this go around and won. How did we go from the 2012 type pride the school had to total embarrassment in 2022? Were only administration change away from losing it all and nearly have. Nederland should never be "restored to its former glory" cause it should have never left. Nederland has always been behind the times with its administrators. Why were cell phones banned when I was in school? Cause the old heads couldn't see past the 1990s and into the future. It's things like that, that should have been pushed to change in the early days. It's not like I went to school in the early 2000s it was 2010s for crying out loud. So I say, build the school, allow the food trucks in (different topic but along the same lines), build the activities and bring in the technology and allow them to use it. The CT program changed like 10 fold, it's incredible what the CT program has accomplished in the last few years so I know with the right people in charge it is possible to have positive change.

  41. PN-G often gets made fun of because of its core values of Honor, Pride, and Tradition, but those things matter. As I get older and farther away from my time in the PN-GISD, I am more and more thankful for the generations of PN-G administrators, teachers, staff, and alumni that created all the great traditions and Indian Spirit culture that still mean the same thing in 2024 like they did in 1925. What outanup said was 100% correct. If you are a student at PN-G and you cannot find a group or activity to join, then you don't want one. That makes this alum feel proud and I would feel that way if our football team was 16-0 or 0-10. PN-GISD, alums, and the leaders in the cities of Port Neches and Groves want the kids to be involved from K-12...Honor, Pride, and Tradition meant something in 1925, it still means something today, and it will carry you a long way in life. Here's to Nederland finding the right coach, re-energizing the ISD, and the kids enjoying success. I still gotta finish with Go Indians.

  42. Amen......and spot on. One thing about our neighbor school across the tracks....If there's not a place for you to fit in, it's cause you don't want one. Lot's of good things happening over there. I've always been a Huge supporter of Monte and company but he's gone now and it's time for change. Nederland doesn't have all the home growns and 2nd and 3rd generation kids anymore. So many have moved across the river, and to HF, Lumberton etc.......This isn't as big an issue in PNG. Just not as many diehard born and bred Bulldogs(CULTURE). Everyone needs a place to live but, Nederland is saturated with duplexes , apartments, and rental property. Say what you will but alot of these kids aren't diehards and necessarily Bulldogs due to moving in, out and around too much. This is a leadership problem, and it's in the lap of our City leaders. The ISD is saturated with kinfolks, classmates and GOB's. This can lead to an environment of complacency. It's uncomfortable to discipline kinfolk. This isn't saying Ned is all bad, it's just time for change. Top to bottom, and not just the coaching staff.
