Were you at the meetings when WOS had a C rating in 2019 (no ratings the last two years with COVID), but had a better football team? Or is the B they got in 2022 only a problem because the football team is struggling? Honest question. Because if you ask me, bringing their academic rating up from a C to a B despite the challenges of learning through COVID is quite an accomplishment, and should be celebrated.

Leave the football program alone. We just need to be more physical and tackle better which will happen. Everyone needs to stop crying and get behind the kids and coaching staff and give the system a chance. It will work itself out. I well never turn my back on the coaching or the kids like some of you guys have because I'm more about wins and losses. This is the worst fan base I have ever seen in my life. Be me I've been to high school college and nfl games. Win or lose there behind their no matter the outcome week in week out, but wos fans. THE GET ROCKY AND YOU GUYS BAIL. No loves that school more than I do and I will defend it at all cost when see junk like this. So if players wanna leave bye, I wish them the best but wos will continue to be great. 28 20 wos to STAMP IT.

Do you believe that backups should just run out the clock when they get in? Despite that fact that they may rarely get the chance to play otherwise despite practicing/preparing just as much as the chosen starters. I'm curious. I wasn't at the game nor do I know.. but if the backups were in, they deserve to be coached with the same intensity and just the same as the starters in a game situation. It is truly absurd to me to believe that when backups finally get to go in.. that it's even a suggestion for them to play/perform any less than the starters are expected to begin the game or for the clock to just keep running. This isn't little league. If someone feels like they can't stop a bunch of backups from "running it up" then either schedule better or prepare better.

Sounds like you need to go get your Bachelors Degree and a Teaching Certification and get to work! I would love to see you draw some X's and O's up on the board! I'm sure you could show those ex professionals and college players something! I bet WB's lack of success has absolutely nothing to do with the absolutely horrible atmosphere and environment within the whole school...... I bet the constant distractions of being on lockdown and shelter in place and dealing with violent events on campus has absolutely nothing to do with the performances of 16 and 17 year olds. That staff needs someone like you who knows winning in High School sports is just about "coaching".

You are correct. It doesn’t take me to clear it up. Anyone can claim that they are investigating someone. Look at the big news (or comedy skit) this week about a Texas sheriff claiming that he is investigating Governor DeSantis of Florida for the Martha’s Vineyard entertainment. Sure, investigate all you want. Don’t hold your breath waiting for an indictment on that case.

I tend to agree. Back ups deserve the chance to show themselves. What I don't care for is particular situations like a coach calling timeout with 10 seconds left, leading by 50, just to try and score again. Or running a hurry up offense in the last minute (contrary to what they had been doing) to try and score again. Or going for it on 4th and 15 in their own territory leading by 40+. Or throwing every down, routes to the sidelines, to try and stop the clock under a minute to go leading by 30+. Those type decisions are totally unnecessary. And yes, I have seen these situations with my own eyes. If the backups are running the base offense and the other team just can't stop them, then that's on the other team.

Then I retract the aggressiveness in my tone. My point, however, remains in that case in high school games and up. Probably even junior high games. Backups deserve the same level/style of coaching as the starters get at the beginning of the game. Coach them just as hard and with the same intention of reaching maximum success. "Running it up" is one of my most hated comments if/when a team has already removed the starters. The backups are supposed to lay down because the starters gave them a huge lead? I don't think so.

I might get some flack for this but I don't care: I don't think that QB for WB will be returning to WB for another season.

Good game. QB play and RBs did well all night. Line blocked well. Bryant might end up being a good second back to depend on, I think Thomas almost broke 100 yds tonight. Still some things to work on but overall much better effort against a team that wasn’t very good and that they should have beaten. The good: O&D line, QB, Rb played very well. Only three penalties tonight. The Bad: Still need to work on special teams and secondary. The ugly: nothing really ugly tonight.

Yeah a lot of what's wrong in BISD starts from the top...I honestly don't believe BISD in it's current state is set up for any football coach to succeed on a consistent basis.

Definitely Panthers gonna drop 50 or 60. Hornets letting Barrier get away, both coach and player, was not a smart move for them. Could of been a game changer for the boys athletic program. That’s on them. Just not a smart move.

409, although your response was filled with sarcasm, you made a few great points here nephew. Probably without trying, but you did it. It should be noted that I have the Bachelor's Degree secured and as an added bonus, i also have a Master's Degree. Unfortunately coaching never peeked my interest as a career but you may be on to something. However, I am in a position where I mentor young adults and I can see where you are have arrived when speaking on the environment of the school. I thought this was a football forum; meaning football talk but you have managed to redirect the narrative, congratulations. You are absolutely correct coaching is much more than X's and O's. Regardless, of what's going on in the school, those kids should see their respective sport as a safe haven. In closing, all that you have spoken doesn't excuse the poor coaching performance. Are the coaches 100% to blame, absolutely not, but they could do better.

Bullets13 stated it well. I will add this. .. according to a KFDM article 3 SETX area school districts achieved an A rating. Two are very small, thus a very small sample for the stats run for determining the grade. If you want to question the coaching hire, by all means feel free that will happen everywhere. However, if you bring up both in the same argument, you lose credibility in that argument on both issues.

I'm a North Shore alum and fan. And I agree totally in that the success of a program such as North Shore's draws kids. A few years ago it was Allen or SLC that were always being accused of recruiting. Katy even had to deal with the same accusations. Because we've won three titles in four years now the accusations are being thrown our way.

All I’m saying is there is an advantage whether it’s Dville or North Shore because of student population size and throw open enrollment. I’m done, this convo going sideways. 14.2 might have something to say on who knows the most though.😂

I’ll say this and it was kinda mentioned earlier… I don’t wanna hear anyone from Kountze getting upset about another team scoring too much lol As a Kountze alumni I’ve seen some basketball games over the last 20 years that Kountze exactly didn’t take the foot off the pedal… Matter of fact I think one was against Buna where Kountze won by like 60-70 lol

From what I have gathered, it was a question of resourcing the program in the way that could set them up for success in the future. Barrier needed more assistants in order to elevate the program from a coaching perspective. Keep in mind, Barrier wasn't even the AD at Hardin, just the HFC. That is another issue and made it extremely easy for him to leave to be an assistant in another district. It wasn't like he was walking away from an administrators salary to take an assistant role at Anahuac. The younger Barrier is a generational talent and would've been the best player Hardin football had ever seen, and his dad is a damn good coach also. I am not sure anything would've been able to keep them there, but Hardin didn't even try. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Hardin has too many hands in the cookie jar over there. Small town politics at it's finest. Board members and parents who are not realistic in their expectations. They let Anthony Morgan get out of the gate years ago, and Barrier will be the next one they will regret for decades.

Both are the same. At least there is a visitor side press box at Dayton that is half the climb. I still don't know how either stadium gets away with not having an elevator due to handicap laws. I was always in the Silsbee coaches ear pleading with them not to play at Abe.
