  1. I just thought looking at the schedule that an outsider looking at the SA schedule would think the two teams who will likely lose are the favorites, since FF and Silsbee have the worst records. Just goes to show you for elite teams, playing those tough non-district schedules are crucial. Especially for Silsbee who has a difficult time getting any kind of test in district. Honestly think the two teams FF and Silsbee beat in the regional finals may be the third and fourth best teams in 4A.

  8. [Hidden Content] From the article: Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold expressed "disappointment" Monday at the Supreme Court's 9-0 decision that her state cannot bar former President Trump from appearing on the ballot in 2024, saying it was now up to voters to "save our democracy." It was always up to the voters, which is also terrifying.

  10. I've got my money on Trump/Lake 2024. It doesn't matter who Trump picks, he's going to burn them at the stake before it's all over with... just ask any former cabinet member, etc... Trump's VP is facing career suicide. Not from Trump's enemies but from Trump himself.

  11. I'll still say the best option he could go with for a purely vote-getting standpoint is Nikki Haley. The amount of angry responses I get from Trump supporters any time I bring that up is the exact reason she'd be the perfect running mate. He won't do it, though. He wants a puppet.

  12. Shaq scored that 38 in the semis vs Hearne my senior year of HS. At that time Cole was 3A (but would be 4A now since 5A was the biggest classification then). Interestingly, the big guy only scored 19 in the championship game, while Clarksville’s big man Tyrone Washington scored 29 on O’Neal (Washington was “only” 6’6”). Of course, Shaq did have 26 rebounds in that game. Clarksville played Cole to the wire that day too. That was also BJ Tyler’s senior year and he led Lincoln to the 4A title. Shaq was also a senior, albeit only 17. He didn’t turn 18 until the end of his freshman season at LSU.

  19. I think you're missing the point... The state's opinion is that he lied. His own opinion, the opinion of the bank, and the opinion of whatever appraiser looked over the loan thought that the values were adequate. Like I said earlier... a lie is "I make $100,000 a year" and providing forged pay stubs is a lie. If someone tries to borrow money against a property that they do not own... a lie. If somebody says "I think my property is worth $200k," the independent appraiser believes (in his/her expert knowledge) that the property is worth at least $200k, the bank agrees with the applicant and the appraiser that the property is worth $200k, the loan is then paid back...... Don't let your hatred of the man cloud your judgment. Like I said... how would you like to be hauled into court over a home equity loan that you'd already paid back because you, the appraiser, and the bank all agreed on the value of the property, but then the state provides their "opinion" of the value of the property back then and files suit against you? There was no crime.

  22. 39 is not the record. Don Stanley and Ira Terrell scored 51. Silsbee is the 2nd team to do it in championship game. 1st to do it in 4A.

    President Trump's VP Pick!

Mostly presidents choose who might swing a few votes. The Veep isn’t likely to lose votes but could potentially swing a close state. Presidential nominees aren’t exactly known for choosing a front runner or what the talking heads feel is a “likely” pick. It’s like Nixon choosing Gerald Ford (although in the middle of a presidency and not a primary), Ford choosing Dan Quayle, Mondale choosing Geraldine Ferraro, etc. Certainly there are outliers such as Ronald Reagan, choosing George Bush. So the biggest question will be, will Trump choose one of the claimed front runners such as Ramaswamy, Gabbard, Noem or Scott or will he go outside like with Pence? The odds seem to be in favor of a person who isn’t typically mentioned in the usual conversations. From a purely voting standpoint, it seems like Tulsi Gabbard would be the most likely choice or the choice most likely to swing any votes from the undecided or claimed swing voters In her favor for things that some people feel are important are: 1. Female and Pacific Islander. 2. Current member of the National Guard and with deployments overseas during the Iraq War and later in Kuwait. As a combat medic she earned a Combat Medic Badge which I believe is given by the Army for medics who have actually treated wounded soldiers while engaged with an enemy. 3. Like Ronald Reagan, she was a former Democrat, who realized the folly of that party. 4. She is very young and can get away from the old person stereotype that currently seems to be running politics. I don’t know that any of the other candidates can bring as much to the table that might entice a swing voter. I have seen people for example, push for Ramaswamy, saying that he is a rich businessman and outspoken, much like Trump. I like the guy however is he going to swing a middle of the road independent? If one of those people likes a person such as Trump, why not just vote for Trump? But I think Trump is going to pull a rabbit out of the hat …….

  30. We are living in the Golden Ages of SETX basketball. I dont know a time in history where you've had Silsbee and Beaumont make it to state so often. I think Ozen and Kountze went together a time or 2. Silsbee and United both made it 2 years ago. San Antonio will be packed with families from the 409.

  31. [Hidden Content] Coming from Orangefield where the Slot-T was its offense the last several seasons does not necessarily mean Bridge City will switch to it under Smalley. "I don't plan on running the Slot-T here. After playing the Cardinals last year and seeing what they've got coming back with a quarterback that can throw, some good running backs, and solid linemen I think we'll have the ability to do some different things similar to what they've been doing," Smalley analyzed. "At the end of the day it's going to be what does our talent base dictate that we can do and let's get good at doing that. I get labeled as a Slot-T guy because that's what I've done for twelve years, but people don't remember when I played at Bridge City we were multiple. I've coached in the Spread and have coached in just about any offense you can think of, so my knowledge base is not just Slot-T football," Smalley added.

  33. By the way, how many coaches in our coverage area have gone to 4 state tournaments in a row? We praise certain coaches in this area (and not undeservingly) but some of us act like it’s just making substitutions for Green and Sigler. Those guys are both no brainer hall of famers who deserve to be at the top of any list you want to make regarding basketball coaches in this area or the state.

  40. Phelan would show up drunk when doing his official duty as Speaker. AG Paxton called him out on it. Phelan retaliated by garnering enough Dem votes to impeach Paxton. Paxton was eventually acquitted. I watched a lot of the impeachment trial. And it became clear Phelan really didn't have anything on Paxton. This led LT Gov Patrick to say how much taxpayer dollars Phelan had wasted. This also led to the censure of Phelan by the Texas Republican Party. Also, Trump, Cruz, Paxton and Patrick has endorsed Covey. So, I'm not getting a warm cozy feeling concerning Phelan.
