  1. If those 2 keep winning, they may need to reconfigure Kyle Field for the final series. Seriously, that will be one tough ticket and the 3 largest attended games at Blue Bell may just be all from 1 series.
  2. Lamar still has mostly the upper teir of teams in conference left to face. Need to keep playing quality ball as they prepare for an odd final 3 weeks of the season in May. The final 3 weeks they will essentially be moving the program to the New Orleans area. They finish on the road for the final 2 series starting with preseason favorite (presently 3rd) Nichols, then again travel east to UNO (preseason 3rd and sitting in 2nd) for the season finale starting on a Thursday, and right back to Lousiana and into Hammond for the conference tournament starting Wednesday the 22nd of May. They play UIW and Northwestern State at home the 2 weekends prior to the New Orleans area stretch and those series are right after the trip to Corpus this coming weekend. To any of you that have not been to the tourney when in Hammond, it really isn't a bad place to hold it and for you party people, New Orleans is close. My opinion is that they have the best stadium in the conference. Hope SELA gets in and isn't hosting a tournament with very low attendance due to them sitting out of it. 8 of 9 make it and they should get in.
  3. Series sweep. 8-2 final. 29-6 overall and 8-1 in conference. Travel to Corpus next weekend.
  4. Honored team from '02, '03, and '04 before the game. 3 year run of regional appearances. Very large crowd for SLC baseball. LU wins 10-3. Had 15 hits on the day. Move to 28-6 overall and 7-1 in conference. Hope you and your grandson enjoyed, @AggiesAreWe.
  5. You, the grandson, and Uncle Spidey should all attend together. Yep, I'm the with the stir stick now.
  6. Top 2 pitchers in the conference based on ERA faced off tonight. It was a good one. Missed 2 of the NcNeese games but the 2 I missed, the birds had 17 total hits but only scratched out 3 runs. Timely hitting has been hit and miss at times the season, but much better than last year. 27-6 record is pretty salty.
  7. The growth is mostly in suburbs. From 2020 to 2022 the CITY'S growth was less than 2000, yes 2000, I am not missing a 0. Ms. Big you can find all the liberal opinion pieces you wish. I gave a very non-political and accurate statement that includes pointing to what the new DEMOCRAT mayor is proposing. Turner and others made financial bad moves, REPUBLICANS do as well. I now see why I was right in not engaging you while others argue with you daily on here. Sometimes a fact is a fact. There is no MY truth. Yes you will have the last word. Enjoy your day.
  8. Simply to save money as odd as that may sound. If it had gone to arbitration, the cost would likely have been substantially more. Thus, payout and cut elsewhere or default. Turner spent money without truly having a good handle on revenue or simply didn't care as it would be someone else's problem when he left office. There are numerous articles all over the internet on this from right and left leaning publications. Many democrats were happy he was term limited.
  9. Settled with money the city does not have. Firefighters deserve the money, but Turner was a horrible financial mayor as was his predecessor. He left Whitmire a horrible situation. Will either need a federal bail out (not appropriate ever for any city or municipality) or cut at least 5% from almost all areas of spending (something Whitmire has proposed). As someone who works in the city, I pray it improves, but have little hope for it.
  10. @AggiesAreWe, you are good. Don't fall for it Spidey. You keep up the positive remarks. 5 for 5, baby!
  11. @AggiesAreWe @bullets13 and@BEARCPA are throwing out the bait. Don't take it Uncle Spidey, stay positive!!
  12. Uncle Spidey with 4 consecutive positive posts on LU baseball. You ole softy, you!
  13. LU takes midweek game 7-2 over SFA. Noon game today as it was rescheduled from last night. Southeastern at home this weekend.
  14. Jacob Ellis earns D1Baseball's pitcher of the week for the nation. Ellis threw 9 innings of no hit ball on Saturday against McNeese. He is 5-0 on the season and allowing opponents a .183 average.
  15. LSU has fallen to 3-9 in conference. The Tigers have time to get back on track. However, if their struggles continue, this will be the 3rd year in a row that the defending CWS champion out of the SEC falls apart. Baseball...????
  16. Take 2 out of 3 with a walk off winner. Old man says it's one of the better series he has seen at the Beck. 5-1 in conference.
  17. You fecal matter stirrer. 😀 Uncle Spidey was positive last time he posted in this thread. You are going to mess up all our progress.
  18. Birds with the no hitter win. Just screamed yes in the Madisonville Bucees men's room. Strange looks received and deserved.
  19. Cards drop opening game of series to Cowboys 4-2.
  20. Fully understand. It will likely take a win total that is well above 40 to secure a bid without a conference tournament title giving the automatic. How much above 40????
  21. Birds flying high. Move to 23-5 on the season with 11-3 win. Strong pitching performance. Also, 14 hits with 8 extras base hits including a triple and 3 round trippers. McNeese this weekend at home.
  22. Birds and Kats in a midweek contest shortly. SLC has on occasion sent 2 teams to the NCAA tourney. Long odds with the conference's present strength. However, IF LU can sustain this run, for the first time in years, midweek games may actually matter. EARLY to project such, but keep winning and.. ...
  23. Some polls not posted yet, but K-State at 23 in the Collegiate Baseball Writer's Poll may be the only ranking for a Big 12 team this week. Amazing may be on overused term, but when you consider the money, facilities, , name brands, etc...this is amazing.
  24. Would love to see that too. HOWEVER, not only mighty early, the strength of schedule (SOS) will hurt tremendously. Latest RPI (Boyd's World as the NCAA utilized is not updated yet to my knowledge) has LU at 41 with a SOS of 240. The SOS won't raise much or any for the remainder of the season. SLC opponents are scattered from 120 to 230 range, thus no real bump and few strong mid week teams left. Also have TSU that is very low and Alcorn with the lowest RPI (305) in the nation. A 3 seed, as a 2 seed is essentially the same for tournament design purposes, would be great. Have to agree with my Uncle Spidey on that one.
