There isn't a doubt in my mind. I'm saying that those who bash high school coaches and even beyond are likely peewee coaches that "know more" than the varsity/college/pro coaches that actually get paid to do so. To clarify.. I'm not saying that coaches are mistake free. There are definitely coaches that are better or worse than others. I'm implying that there's often a lot more that goes into winning games than simply strategy/preparation. One being talent. And parents/fans often refuse to believe that their little babies just aren't any good. So coaches catch the blame. People need to realize that Bill Belichick is 71-80 withOUT Tom Brady. So.. is he a worse coach? Or.. did he have one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever take a snap? It wasn't very long ago that he was considered the best football coach to have ever lived. And I have no doubt that he knows more than I ever will. But.. know what I mean? Kind of like Phil Jackson. Who coincidentally has zero championships without MJ or Kobe/Shaq.

My point is that's ALL he comments on here. I understand that Nederland is having a down year, but constantly bashing them gets old. I'm not advocating that he always post "rainbows and sunshine" but lighten up a bit. Just seems personal, bitter with always an axe to grind. This game is pretty much predetermined. I don't think it will be an easy game for either but Newton should win handily. What excites me is the fact that this district has been looked down on by our neighbors to the north year after year with Newton being the only team that they took seriously. This year may be different with Newton, Hemphill, and New Waverly. We all could go past the first round with Newton having a chance to win it all!!!!!!

It's hard to believe that a full year has passed since last year's contest but here we are again! The UIL Region 10 Marching Band Contest will be held Saturday October 15, 2022 at Port Neches-Groves HS Stadium. The schedule released today shows 30 bands competing to earn that coveted Division 1 rating and the chance to move on to state competition.Admission is $5 to get in.I do plan to attend and record all the bands as my brother and I have diligently tried since 2006. If y'all want, come say hi to me as I battle the weather elements and try to get the best video/audio recordings of our local high school bands.Now that things are getting back to some sort of normalcy, advancement past region to area/state competition will be for class 2A, 4A, and 6A schools only. Keep in mind that we have separate open class (contemporary-style) and military class tracks for state marching band contest.Some of my thoughts: - With the recent UIL alignment for 2022-2024, a few schools have shifted classifications compared to last year: Corrigan-Camden 2A from 3A, Orangefield 3A from 4A, Beaumont United 6A from 5A.- Some schools missing from last year (2021) include Port Arthur Memorial. Hudson (outside Lufkin) has not participated since 2018.- Woodville returns to marching contest after a 3-year absence - Again this year, Beaumont United and West Brook High Schools are competing as Non-Varsity Bands; they will not be able to advance to area or state even if they earn a Division 1 rating. From my understanding "newer" schools like Beaumont United usually start out as non-varsity for music programs. I am not sure with West Brook the process to request Non-Varsity status. Per the UIL Handbook: Varsity Waiver. At the option of the music director and local school administration and with the approval of the UIL State Director of Music, music organizations representing new music programs, and music organizations committed to the process of establishing a viable music program may enter as non-varsity in the conference to which they are assigned until such time that the organization earns a Division I rating in concert performance. Pending request from local school administration and with the approval of the UIL State Director of Music the requirement to return to varsity status may be waived until such time that local school administration requests varsity status. - With all the classification changes, only three 5A bands are left in our region, As it stands, we have 3-2A, 10-3A, 12-4A, 3-5A, 2-6A bands participating.Best wishes to all participating bands as they finish learning their music/drill and polishing up their shows in the next 2 weeks.

Jasper goes from being cattle DAWGS to being bird DAWGS this week as they head south to take on the Cardinals. I think the DAWG defense can/will keep the Cardinals offense to a minimum. Rush is getting all the reps with the first string. I would think offenses are scaled back for a backup, so maybe they should do that for Dak. Just play within the system instead of trying to resemble the Harlem Globetrotters.

What is ridiculous is that it took an almost 300 page ruling to say that if everyone is equal, there is no constitutional violation. If only minorities had to show proof of citizenship or an ID, it would go against the 14th Amendment. If only white male Christians (preferably with ties to white supremacy movements) were the only people sitting at the polls and making such decisions, it would go against the 14th Amendment. Without reading the actual law, I feel fairly confident that I could make a wager with 100% certainty of winning that those things do not exist. Should not criticize the kids. Coaches need to wear big girl panties and expect to be criticized.

I agree completely about student athletes NOT being called out. They’re kids. I’ll abide by the rule about coaches, but it’s dumb. If a man wants to take on the role of coaching with all of its financial rewards, prestige, power, etc… and expects to bask in the glory and praise after wins, he/she should have to face the criticism when it comes. There’s a big difference between criticizing a kid who threw a pick versus criticizing a highly paid professional who made a questionable play call, or is even having problems after deciding to install a new philosophy despite the old one being pretty doggone effective. Should people stick “for sale” signs in his yard? Absolutely not. But should that man be spared from any form of criticism, too? I don’t think so.
