Orangefield, Silsbee , Vidor ....not in any particular order. Orangefield has a lot coming back and will be tough to beat. Vidor's pitching will keep them in the game(probably the best rotation in the area) just can they score and play defense??? Silsbee is pretty loaded pitching and hitting 3 returning seniors in Hartman, Youngblood and Sundgren and A loaded Jr class Glaze, Simmons, Wise and Mitchell .....little bias but I'll take Silsbee to win district 😁

Man an Evadale - Colmesneil matchup would be must-see. Those teams hate each other. Last time Evadale played at Colmesneil (if I recall correctly), there was a scrum the first drive. There were several players kicked out and as a Bulldog player was walking off he saluted the Rebel sideline. Now, I’m quite sure something caused his reaction from the Rebel players, but it was heated. Again, if I recall correctly the coach (at the time) for Colmesneil had backed out of some games and tried to get other teams to back out of the Rebel schedule. Game would probably be played at Jasper and would be a fun playoff game. If I’m wrong please let me know.

If WO-S followed the almighty on-top Bulldogs lead we'd win our first state title in 2043. I'm guessing most of those folks up that way are ate up with it like you, drove thru there a couple weeks back and everyone was driving a convertible, 90% of those folk couldn't fit in a car with a roof. The 'Dogs have been on a roll lately and should be proud, they've been the best. WO-S may not always end up on top but have been competitive every year since they were born, and yes, we're proud. And no, you didn't hurt my feelings, that ain't gonna happen. Now you need to run along, you're in over your head here. When I hear "on top" I first think "the best". Thanks for clarifying because as we can see here it can mean two drastically different things to people. By my definition, WOS hasn't been on top since 2016. By yours, it's still a little foggy still because good is subjective, but in the mix to win... what? Win a game? Win more games than you lose? Win state? You should probably figure that out. Regardless, we know its a much lower standard than my definition of "on top".

When BH played them first game of the year, I told my Buddy, that’s what Manvel looked like 5-6 years ago. I’ll be surprised if they don’t Atleast get to regional finals. I was told they will be 6A next realignment. One of those new schools that population exploded in the middle of realignment.

How about a quick recap of the games they have played so far. They have played 2 good teams, 2 average teams, 1 that is below average this year and 3 really bad teams. The WOS game was a big win, however if you watched the entire game, Nederland had a dozen or less offensive plays with 2 big pass plays for TD’s. Just about every time WOS made a big run it was called back for a penalty, plus Thompson was not there, but a big win .Houston Austin, Santa Fe, and Dayton are bad football teams this season. The Dogs had big wins in all games, but did not play well in the Austin and Santa Fe games. They looked very sluggish in the Austin game and scored fewer points than any other team in district against Santa Fe at home. They did play pretty good defense vs Dayton and actually ran the ball well. The Silsbee and PNG games were big wins, however in both games the defense was bad in the 1st half. Thankfully the Silsbee defense was worse than Nederland’s in the 2nd half and PNG choked the pooch with turnovers in the 2nd half. Still both good wins. Against TC, the offense was awful. They could not score from a 1st and goal at the 3 yard line and the safeties were lost as a goose on TC’s 2 TD’s, especially the one right before half. That was the 2nd worse game the Dogs have played this year. Finally, the BH game at home was atrocious. BH pujnted 1 timeand had over 600 yards on offense. The Nederland defensive game plan was bad. I would say that I look at the total picture of the game dogbite

If MHS wins this game they clinch at least a share of the district championship. With a win over Sterling coupled with a Ball High win over Friendswood the Titans win the district championship outright on Friday night.

What I didn’t realize is we had a Junior QB just waiting for his opportunity to step in and lead the Pirates. We really have experience all over the field aside from maybe Linebacker and the secondary.

There is nothing around here for many people. Plenty of opportunities in Houston (hour and 40 minute drive from where I live) which isn't far from here. Population in the area is declining for many years. I have seen people cleaning land and ready for construction on Chevron-Phillips plant (which we say it could be a finished deal) around Highway 87 in Orange most recently. It may help the area a little (but might be not a whole lot).

Looking at some of these videos reminds me what a friend of mine who does videos, highlight shorts and such told me. He said if I or whoever had any homemade or original videos, highlights of Silsbee beating WO-S to hold on to them that they were so rare they were priceless. If you have any of these you may want to check around and hold on to them for a while.

Maybe a new “beed” of species was created down in that no mans land. Wouldn’t surprise me a bit for a news story about something like that happening down in those parts

A little tough with heavyweights like Manvel, Katy Paetow, and Richmond Foster in the district and with so much inexperience on defense, but maybe they'll make it. This is an important scrimmage for Angleton to face somebody good because they face a decent 4A in Stafford followed by 3 HISD schools in the weeks afterwards, so it will be awhile before they face anybody really good again. 10-5A-1 is going to really change next year with Manvel and Paetow leaving for 6A and Rosenberg Terry and Houston Wisdom departing for 5A-D2. FB Austin dropping down from 6A will be one replacement but I don't know who else will go into this district.

Angleton will have a pass heavy offense this year, though they will run some too. Last year they were transitioning to a spread from the wing-t and didn't get the spring and summer drills to make the change because of covid. Angleton does have a player on Dave Campbell's Class of 2023-Top 100 list, Kariyen Goins who transferred from Brazosport. Angleton's QB, Ewells, is a sophomore who started the last part of 2020 as a freshman. Last year's early starter at QB is still there but has been moved to wr. Goins was a QB at Brazosport but will play wr/fs at Angleton. There is a video of highlights and stats from Angleton's scrimmage with Columbia on Maxpreps and Hudl. It is the one marked "Recap..." and not the one marked "Highlights..." which appears to be from a subvarsity scrimmage. Ewells is wearing #3 at the scrimmage, with #11 at QB being a backup.
