I was told none of the Carthage lineman ,not only don't play both sides of the ball, but they don't practice both sides of the ball, thats un heard of at the 4a level. 4a and down, and even some 5a kids may not start both ways , but they are backups on the other side of the ball, therefore they spend half their practice time practicing that. This means Carthage lineman are getting twice as much practice time as other teams. They have the numbers to do it, we can argue as to why that is, but it is. Everything they do on Offense is based off their O Line scheme, from running zone plays, to being able to protect QB long enough to connect with secondary crossing routes. This is why 6a football looks like its so much better coached. My opinion, but Carthage has a great 4a defense, but they are playing Offense at a 6a level.

I understand that. But some are beat before they take the field because its Carthage. We play every year. Sometimes we win but lately its been Carthage. Maybe I meant more of expectation than intimidation. We just like anyone else would be. Let's get there and then we will take our chances. Its not like we haven't gotten our ass kicked 3 different times in the state championship game. But 3 times we were in a place that many others would like to have been.

Bulldogs win avoids a Round 2 with the likely Region 3 Winner Texas High... likely round 2 opponent for Bulldogs will be A&M Consolidated... the best #3 team in the state imo.. should be a fun interesting playoffs.

Starting QB got hurt early. Not making excuses because the game was still tight, but take away any team’s QB and you will see a dropoff.....sometimes not. Great win Dogs. Beating the elite on their own turf is what makes champions.

May have missed it somewhere but after the kid hit the ref did the game go on and finish or was the game called at that moment? If the game went on then the season should have also...just my opinion.....

Wow, atleast Vidor lost to the regional champs and held Lindale to their lowest points in the playoffs. Moral win right there. 🤣 But seriously, now they gotta face a tougher Argyle team next week. I would love to see Lindale in the state championship but that's tall task ahead of them.

Tonight was the 4th time in the last 7 years that Crosby has come into the last game of district play undefeated. They are now 1-4 in those games, and once again like the 2017 loss to New Caney it has a negative playoff impact. Congrats to Nederland on their district championship, that’s the way you come in and take advantage of Crosby being Crosby.

I’ve said it for weeks. Nederland is above average for a Nederland team. Stingy defense, balanced offense. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of fans on here. Complete arrogance = false sense of security and a big fat L for the Cougars.

You may be right. First time I’m seeing them. They have 15 in uniform. Their big man, Dews, has had a nice game. Still would like to see him stronger with the ball and attack the rim more when he gets it inside.

I shy away from secular music these days. Growing up though: Jimi Hendrix. I first heard him in 1966. on my transistor radio via the old soul station in Beaumont KJET. The song: hey Joe. I could not get into the psychildeic stuff like purple haze, not then. I a said I would pick back up on Hendrix when I was older.. Came home from Silsbee HS one day in September and Walter Cronkite told me he was dead. I felt such a loss. I'd go into detail, but it is a long story. I would of kicked the Hendrix obsession were it not for three songs: machine guns, who knows and the star spangled banner @ Woodstock. I've heard all his stuff, except some of the posthumous stuff. I've read 3 or 4 of his biographies. One I like so much I got the audio book version. Here I was riding around listening to a Hendrix bio. My soul bros and sis could not relate in Hi School so I went to the white guys, the long hairs, the new 70s hippies. They understood. They turned me on, or I discovered myself Led Zappeling, Eric Clapton, Miles Davis. The bios I read said Hendrix and miles were good friends. So I discovered Miles that way. I saw. Eric Clapton and Freddy King in concert in 75. Maybe 1e0 mo. later Freddy died. Saw John Lee Hooker, Albert King and some more. Saw BB King and Carlos Santana on a twin bill in Petaluma Ca. Saw Peter Tosh but not Bob Marley in San Fran. I listened to r&b and stuff early, but rock jazz blues all that started for me with Hendrix. It is 3 am or so and I don't feel up to editing, so please excuse my spelling.

Your right. Crosby hasn’t had to play much in the 2nd half. They came out flat early and spotted Nederland 9 points. I’m hoping they get their act together. We need to quit taking shots to the end zone on 1st down inside the twenty. Just keep taking the 5 yards and get in the end zone.

I agree. Ejection means he's disqualified from competition and no longer part of the team. His actions were his own. The moment he's no longer an athlete, it's back to student. Then the school/coaches/admin is responsible for making sure he leaves the field. Someone failed. But don't punish the kids on the sideline. Sadly 2020 has taken another joy from them.

It absolutely does. It's a team sport, and when one of us messes up, we all pay the penalty. When those two kids in San Antone wrecked the ref in 2015, both of them were suspended from school for 75 days, lost UIL eligibility. The UIL declined to reinstate one for 2016 (I think the other graduated or quituated) and finally reinstated the other kid for 2017. Their coach even permanently lost his teaching certificate. Granted, that coach may or may not have directed those kids to attack, but in this case where the kid has an obviously well-documented history of violently attacking officials..... You have to make a statement. We might even see stronger penalties from the UIL before this is over with. When you jump offsides, you don't get set back five, your whole team does. This kid cost his team 15, then another 15 and a personal disqualification. THEN he attacked the ref. I wouldn't have had a problem with an entire team disqualification at that point in the game. Make a strong stand and nip this behavior in the bud. It's a shame... the kid is a standout at the 6A level. It's literally on every news source in America today. Maybe he can still walk on at East Mississippi Community College.

Yeah, some of you are definitely reaching by saying it's good for the whole team to miss the playoffs because of his actions. He's already been charged and arrested, he will be punished for his actions but the district definitely caved in to the media and punished the kids who were doing the right thing. "Making an example out of them" isn't a good enough reason to cancel the rest of those kids football season. They made an "example" out of reggie bush and USC but how many players have been either paid or given expensive things since then? This falls on the coaching staff in my opinion, they knew they had a hot head on the team but they were willing to look past that in order to field a more competitive team.
