I was told none of the Carthage lineman ,not only don't play both sides of the ball, but they don't practice both sides of the ball, thats un heard of at the 4a level. 4a and down, and even some 5a kids may not start both ways , but they are backups on the other side of the ball, therefore they spend half their practice time practicing that. This means Carthage lineman are getting twice as much practice time as other teams. They have the numbers to do it, we can argue as to why that is, but it is. Everything they do on Offense is based off their O Line scheme, from running zone plays, to being able to protect QB long enough to connect with secondary crossing routes. This is why 6a football looks like its so much better coached. My opinion, but Carthage has a great 4a defense, but they are playing Offense at a 6a level.

I understand that. But some are beat before they take the field because its Carthage. We play every year. Sometimes we win but lately its been Carthage. Maybe I meant more of expectation than intimidation. We just like anyone else would be. Let's get there and then we will take our chances. Its not like we haven't gotten our ass kicked 3 different times in the state championship game. But 3 times we were in a place that many others would like to have been.

Bulldogs win avoids a Round 2 with the likely Region 3 Winner Texas High... likely round 2 opponent for Bulldogs will be A&M Consolidated... the best #3 team in the state imo.. should be a fun interesting playoffs.

Starting QB got hurt early. Not making excuses because the game was still tight, but take away any team’s QB and you will see a dropoff.....sometimes not. Great win Dogs. Beating the elite on their own turf is what makes champions.

May have missed it somewhere but after the kid hit the ref did the game go on and finish or was the game called at that moment? If the game went on then the season should have also...just my opinion.....

Wow, atleast Vidor lost to the regional champs and held Lindale to their lowest points in the playoffs. Moral win right there. 🤣 But seriously, now they gotta face a tougher Argyle team next week. I would love to see Lindale in the state championship but that's tall task ahead of them.

Tonight was the 4th time in the last 7 years that Crosby has come into the last game of district play undefeated. They are now 1-4 in those games, and once again like the 2017 loss to New Caney it has a negative playoff impact. Congrats to Nederland on their district championship, that’s the way you come in and take advantage of Crosby being Crosby.

I’ve said it for weeks. Nederland is above average for a Nederland team. Stingy defense, balanced offense. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of fans on here. Complete arrogance = false sense of security and a big fat L for the Cougars.

I just went on the Nederland football facebook page and mentioned this. Its a great idea to show them support. It says a lot about a community that would show this kindness.

PNG needs to slow the game way down and limit FBM’s possessions. A few good breaks go their way and you never know,

I have seen them knock off better teams, including a #1 in state.

BH beat them I think 40-0 last year. There fans or band didn’t even show up for the game. Our fans felt so bad for them that we cheered when they came on the field to start the game and after the half. It’s really a sad situation in these districts be grateful for the communities we live in.

FBM is tough! I don’t think anyone In our district could beat them. This is one of those game where PNG should onside every kick and go for 2 Every time. Also get those waiting in the wings some playing time against a quality opponent. Goodluck

That district is abysmal..... Marshall is good no doubt. But there is a reason they only gave up 20 points all year long. Sterling will be beat by Monday. Ready for Basketball

Problem is they only have like 3 offensive plays. Run #12. Bubble screen to #2. And just run around and try to find an open Wr some where which worked a couple times last night. I knew and said in the beginning they weren’t running on us. Just had to minimize the busted plays.

Only if you’re a United fan! 🤣 GCM fans felt that way in the first half, however we have come to learn that this staff time after time have made adjustments on the fly and/or at halftime to counter the opposing team. IMO United lost the game in the 1st half, when they did not distance themselves while the defense was playing lights out. GCMs defense doesn’t get enough credit, but they are pretty salty themselves, and keep GCM in the game until the coaches make offensive adjustments, and then HERE COME THE PATS! they’ve done it all season. A one score loss to PAM, and then just layed an egg against REL, this team was capable of winning a DC. They didn’t know how to win close games, that changed during the RSS game, and they haven’t looked back since. They know that the dude steering the ship will get them where they want to go as long as they keep it afloat. Coach Carter is a real one!! He’s already done special things with this program. The best part about it is, he WANTS to be in Baytown, that’s HIS program, and the kids in that community will be the benefactors.

We can all talk about what, will, should, could, might, probably, happen...at the end of the day, NONE of our thoughts, opinions, suggestions, or predictions, matter whatsoevever. 11 teenage boys will line up against the other 11 teenage boys, and they will determine the outcome. I will die on this hill, with the statement I am about to make. Coach Shannon Carter and his staff at GCM, deserve one helluva “attaboy” for the coaching job they have done with this group. Since back to back losses against PAM/REL, the patriots have won 4 in a row, and have trailed from the beginning in all of them. The halftime adjustments that this staff has made/put together, is second to none. Tonight, United’s defense was magnificent in the first half, the only first down GCM had, was via penalty. In the second half, that same defense/coaching staff was overwhelmed, outmatched, and flat out whooped, for 24 points in the 3rd qtr alone. Congrats to the Patriots, and good luck to our fellow district mates, representing 9-5A in the Division 1 UIL State Playoffs.

Freakin HORRIBLE and SAD second half effort. Horrible play calling the last couple of plays. And even worse play call for that last play. No second half adjustments. Non. Like I e always said, seems like our local coaches just will not try anything new. It’s like ‘we’ve practiced this all week. If it’s not working, we’re going to keep trying it until we get it right’. That’s NOT the mindset you see in Central Texas or west Texas football. On top of that,it will be worse next week since obviously you wanted Manvel since this horrible showing I had to witness. Furthermore, I can’t think of the last time a Beaumont team lost to two Baytown schools.... at least our basketball team will be better after next week. I’m out. ✌🏿

Nederland won’t be good at all this. Everyone should rest their starters and just start JV players this year against Nederland
