It is a little more than that. I had a chance to get this from a friend. The Chain Gang, as it was used in the defensive unit at West Orange-Stark High School, was a phrase of brotherhood and unity. I have seen several on social media during this time of strife indicate that the best solution of unity can be found in a high school football locker room. Rather than doing that, the WO-C CISD decided to toss a hand grenade in it. That is what bothers me most of all. Although, as I stated previously, I remain confident that Mustang defense will be the same whether you call them the Chain Gang, the Blue Link or the Pink Vaginas, a very small part of me wonders what effect this episode will have when the Mustangs hit the field.

It's so easy to explain if you just think of it this way. It's like a riddle, wrapped up in an enigma, inside a conundrum... but really strong.. and fast.

Yea we gave the Nederland game away late and the PNG game too for that matter. The scrimmage with Silsbee last year was just about a stalemate, I think Vidor had a slim lead until the backups got in. Our defense played great last year but wore down late in several games when the offense struggled to keep the ball moving. You should see a completely different offense if things work out with the new/old QB coming back and the defense has returners at all key positions except linebacker, we lost some good'ns. But I'm telling you right here, right now... the key to this game will be, PHYSICAL SPEED!

I agree. I’ve been calling it a, “right vs wrong” problem. It’s really simple. If you do wrong there is no right. If you do right there is no wrong. Don’t break the law and treat people the right way.

In all fairness, I don't believe that most people commenting on this post (who don't have direct ties to WO-S) are concerned about it changing the way the Defense plays....WO-S has a great football program, no doubt about it. I think "joe public" is more concerned with where the "we'll decide for you what is offensive, political, oppressive, etc" will end. I believe the young men who work their tails off should decide on what they call themselves, regardless of what some may conceive as "Woke". They should decide if they feel they're supporting "systemic" racism or encouraging oppression by claiming their Chain Gang defense title. Was that considered? Was a vote held? THAT is what people have a problem with....why the they decide for themselves?

Well a high school in Massachusetts sees in differently they already canceled the season and largely decided be the parents I understand that people care about their kids more than sports. And fake or not the deaths are real. So like I is no unnecessary games. Start late mabe the numbers will die number dowm and play the district games.

Racism in America is all about perceived slights and imagined offenses. You can’t identify actual instances of white on black racism anymore, so we have to protest “systemic” (another word for “we just can’t prove it) racism, privilege, micro-aggressions, and dog-whistle racism. If you live in crappy section 8 housing, that’s racism. It’s not that you’re four generations deep of single moms and absent dads. It’s whitey. It’s not that you’d rather pop out kids for bigger benefit checks.... it’s racism. If you never scrape up the closing costs and take advantage of the multitude of programs for first time buyers because you’d rather live in a rent-subsidized apartment... racism. If you catch a couple of felonies, get some neck tats, quit high school, and then Valero won’t hire you..... absolutely racism. If you are born poor in America, live poor, and die broke... you don’t make good decisions. That’s a fact. My standard of living is a result of my hard work and solid decision making. I’ve never once sat around and wondered whose to blame for my lot in life.

The problem is that statistics prove that blacks ARE the most violent ethnic group in America and you still can’t even admit that, can you? It’s not just the blacks committing violence, it’s also the rest like you who refuse to condemn it for what it is... your silence makes you complicit. As far as the handouts go, it’s not just a black thing. I don’t know of a soul of any color that turned down their stimulus check... whether they’d lost any money due to COVID or not. But I do believe that the black community has been hit worse as a group by relying on the social safety net as a means of survival. Benefit programs were never intended to provide a middle-class lifestyle. We need to teach young people (but especially young people in poverty) that the three things to do that will virtually guarantee a successful life are 1. Finish school 2. Stay out of trouble 3. Wait until you’re married to have kids That’s it. It’s that easy for most people. The problem is that those lifestyle choices are made by kids, but the choices affect them (and their kids) for the rest of their lives.

-Why is the DEMONcrat party, the liberals, antifa and blm teaching the world that being a criminal and being violent is ok? -Why is it ok to burn buildings and deface, or destroy, property that tax payers provide? -Why is it ok to attack people who do not agree with a certain belief or movement? -Why am I considered racist if I say all lives matter or human lives matter? -Why is there a war on police, regardless of the color of their skin? Everything that is going on in this so called movement is based on criminals and/or criminal activity. Why is this ok with some people?

That defense over the years has made most offense’s earn every chain link they could get. They have had some of the nastiest defenses I’ve ever seen in High School Football over the years. I’ve always thought of the Chain Gang as a very Stingy Defense. Meaning not giving up many chain links to the offense. Sad to see it changed. How ridiculous!

I actually don’t believe ANY of them. As far as being liked, that’s not a part of the criteria in my book. As a parent, husband and head of our household, I do things nobody always likes. I do it for the good of the family. Sometimes you gotta be the bad guy.

What's crazy is on Facebook it's non-WOS graduates and mostly non-Orange residents who are in an uproar over the nickname change and class added. Funny stuff.
