20 YEARS OF SETXSPORTS!!!!
tvc184 and 6 others reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
SETXsports is now 20 years old!! December 2005, owner @jdawg03 started this website to promote our local high schools sports. It was a way for the fans to be a part of the sports scene here locally. Over the years, this site has grown from just a small little message board site to one of Southeast Texas media staples. Adding our broadcasts and other social media entities, SETXsports has become one of the states biggest and best high school sports websites. I personally want to thank all our staff (admins/mods/broadcasters) for all the work put in to make this website what it is today. Also, thanks to our over 45,000 members (past and present) for being a big part of the success of this site. Couldn't have done any of it without you guys. So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SETXsports!! 20 years!!7 points -

Just horrible…maybe this will wake up their coaches and quit wearing Death Row gear on the sideline of a high school football event.3 points

That's a great rendering of death row records but I heard an announcer say during the SOC/Randle game that it was harder scoring on SOC than it is to get off death row.... Trust me, I cringed every time I heard 'Death row defense' exclaimed by the announcer..... So far, my xpectations of this subject are surprising. I figured by now it would be 15 pages of back and forth etc. Thank for the personal story @Matthew328. The grand conclusion is everyone from the parents to the players excerized poor judgement. Glad no one was killed2 points

Death Row is just a nickname for the defense like the Chain Gang was for WOS, etc.....they've been using that for years but no one noticed it until they started winning state.. This is a simple case of adults making a poor choice to rent an Air BNB for a bunch of HS kids...the kids decide to shoot a rap video and play with guns that were loaded.....its kids being dumb....leaving HS boys unsupervised in a house is a receipe for bad behavior and they are lucky someone wasn't killed....2 points

Tarkington 108 Hardin 52 **All time school record broken by PG #21

In today’s game Calvin Ellington #21, PG for the Tarkington Longhorns breaks the single game record with 57 points in today’s victory vs Hardin.1 point -
My guess is many of the kids involved have never seen a Death Row artist music video....the heyday of Death Row records was the late 1990s and by the early 2000s (before these kids were born) the label was irrelevant...they were probably portraying things they see online, social media etc...but I highly doubt Death Row Records had anything to do with it....no way to know for sure but most teenagers I know aren't watching music videos from the 1990s1 point

Georgia Admitted To Over 315,000 Votes Were Counted Illegally!
LumRaiderFan reacted to Porter for a topic
When the law demands three signatures on tabulator tapes and the county fails to follow the rules, those 315,000 votes are, by definition, uncertified. They found identical protective counters across several different polling places, polls that were opened eight days late, polls closed at impossibly late hours, like 2:09 a.m. in the morning, and poll closing times that do not match the tapes. They found duplicated scanner serial numbers where the memory devices were removed from one scanner and printed on an alternate scanner. In other words there was massive fraud going on! Good grief.1 point -

Ah….the good old days back when people were prosecuted for breaking the law and punishment was given accordingly. Trump is way behind on the amount of people that need to be fired in order to right the ship. He’s done well but he needs to drop the hammer.1 point

Since most people, including myself, can’t realize the magnitude of $9 billion, I’ll try to put it into perspective. Picture owning a $1 million house in SETEX. It would be a large house with all the amenities, including a pool and acreage. Now, picture owning 9,000 houses just like it. Makes you realize just how much thievery is going on. Walz is directly in the middle of it and I would like nothing better than to see him in cuffs.1 point

Eh, I once saw a 4A D1 district right down the street from WF post their AD/HC job on THSCA with a starting salary of $84k. Clearly an attempt to say they posted with no real intention of going outside the fold for replacement. We will see what WF does.1 point

The defense could have definitely been named "Sunshine and Daffodils" but instead they were named "Death Row". Coincidentally, there was an incident where the kids happened to be portraying the specific imagery associated with "Death Row" and one of the players got shot and one got arrested (also imagery associated with Death Row). When drastic and violent events happen with your program, you can expect newfound scrutiny. Its all fun and game till someone gets shot.1 point

Another conspiracy theory proven True! I am starting to lose count. I have a feeling this will be a quiet thread. Rudy Giuliani will end up owning Georgia along with others and I am here to watch it.😎 Arizona will be next. Fix our corrupt elections or nothing changes.1 point

Carthage is a great team, and the program is unprecedented in High school Football history. PG is likely the 2nd best team in the state. WOS is "as good" or "better" than any other 4AD2 team in the state.1 point

Didn’t want to say anything unless they won it, but that was the most impressive tournament run of a champion in VB history, possibly any sport. First VB team to beat three #1 seeds. Only other time I believe it was done was by Arizona men’s basketball in 1997. However, A&M beat a Nebraska team that was being talked about as possibly the best team ever, sweeping a Pitt team with the 2xNPOY that had not been swept all year, and sweeping a Kentucky team that had won 29 straight. They were playing elite on every level.1 point

Basically, Venezuela owns natural resources of crude. They weren't capable of refining it and turning it into petroleum products--including oil. So, they arranged business agreements and leases with American oil companies. Venezuela supplied the crude to the American refiners and made their money off those sales. The American refiners did their refining, and produced the petroleum products and derivatives. At that point, the resulting products were owned by the respective refiners. The assets used to produce said products were owned by the refiners, and the land they sat on was under contract to them as a long-term lease. Venezuela seized those assets, and the resulting products and technology when their economy was in a shambles. They broke the land leases. The refiners weren't compensated for their value, and still haven't been to this day. The oil in the tankers is refined by the seized refineries. Technically, it belongs to the refiners until they've been fairly compensated. The Trump Administration has also--apparently--been tracking 30-40 tankers that are violating sanctions against Iran, and these first 2 tankers are among those violating the sanctions. Trump--and media chatter boxes--are conflating different things. First, crude is the natural resource owned by the Venezuelan people--not the refined petroleum product if it came from a seized refinery. Second, the only reason oil is in the conversation is because it's being used as leverage to remove Maduro's regime, which is very friendly with China and Russia, and the Trump Administration is trying to block any further advances by those militaries into our direct hemisphere. He is using any justification necessary to accomplish this goal. Personally, it would be easier to just stick with the sanctioned oil being sold to help fund the drug cartels via government proxy story, and be honest about removing Maduro and why. Yes, drugs are a major reason. But, also explain to the American people the advances by Russia and China. Most aren't aware at all. Some media--and others--are too shallow thinking to see these issues even though the renewal of the Monroe Doctrine was just verbalized a couple of weeks or so ago. They only focus on the oil angle, and can't even get that part right. NOTE: No AI was harmed or used in the creation of this post. Merely a brain and experience.1 point

Congrats to Jabara Williams new HC of Crosby Cougars Football.
LOUD and Proud reacted to Cougar14.2 for a topic
Congrats to Coach! I think he’s going to revitalize the program. He’s done the exact opposite of what Willis did on his side of the ball. The last couple of years he’s taken the talent Crosby has produced and put together some very salty units. Numbers may not always reflect it due to how inept our offenses have been which kept them on short fields and constantly losing the time of possession battle. Don’t be surprised if you see him rob one of the coordinators from North Shore, CE King or Summer Creek or one of those guys in those “co” positions. That’s where Crosby being basically 15-20 minutes away from those schools gives us the same advantage it does with the transfers. Being from East Texas I’m sure Coach Williams has some connections out there too. My only hope would be that the administration supports him financially and gives him at minimum the same three years they gave Willis to show improvement. He’s only 36 years old and this will be his first head coaching job so I expect some growing pains having to cut his teeth at the highest level of high school football in the country while playing with the short stack. We hit big time on the last two coordinators we hired so here’s to hoping we go 3/3.1 point -
Off by 2 points. To think our two best players are both seniors. This may be a long next 2 years for Tiger basketball.1 point

LOUD and Proud reacted to JPTPRIDE for a topic
By “the right guy,” I mean someone who can get the kids back that chose not to play. Whoever they hire isn’t walking in and winning a state or even a district championship right away. Right now, it’s about getting kids back on the field and rebuilding the program. They had the opportunity to bring Larry Upshaw back, but they passed on it. The program is so far down that it’s not about winning games at this point it’s about winning the kids.1 point -
