They did have a lot of young guys playing...and did well... To be fair just about everyone was missing a few key guys due to regional track and baseball...regional track got moved back this year a week and I think Waggoner realized pretty quick next year he should move his tournament back a week also

I get it....High Island is really on an island for a school that size...the travel is insane....it might just be better for their budget to play small charters etc in the Houston area

He's from a program that has had success...so thats a start

Brock has to be the model for this and I believe they started with 7th grade..added on year by year...year 4 I think they played an outlaw varsity schedule vs private schools and really small 2A's then year 5 join a district

is Onalaska having talks about starting football??? They are one of the larger schools around who doesnt have football

Silsbee "should" beat Nederland but I think per usual it'll be competitive....I expect Nederland to be one of 5A's most improved teams in 2026 they bring a ton back, JV was 8-2 as well

They didn't have an AD last year....they are posting the job as combined once again Current HFC is still there and applied for the combined AD/HFC gig Now him getting it is another story but sounds like he does want it

Fairly sure Locks is going to try and get the Shoemaker job...if he doesnt get it I bet he comes

1) its about keeping your word, if someone asks you to do something and you agree...be a man of your word...a great man once said "A man's gotta have a code" 2) We are dealing with HS kids, my code is allow the adult who works with these kids to tell the kids himself the news...the kids deserve to hear it from the adults who made the decision. 3) It's about building relationships, in this case I could have easily broken the news last week, but I'd burn a Coach...and coaches talk..."Can't trust Stepp, he doesnt keep his word" then I won't break anything....take the L here to break ten more stories later..chess not checkers

I've enjoyed reading this thread...there's so many factors involved....another common example pointed out is Todd Dodge...he won a ton at Southlake and Westlake...not so much at his other stops...its definitely a combination of many factors and I think "fit" as well
