  1. I've enjoyed reading this thread...there's so many factors involved....another common example pointed out is Todd Dodge...he won a ton at Southlake and Westlake...not so much at his other stops...its definitely a combination of many factors and I think "fit" as well
  2. Heritage Very clearly had the best 2 players on the court but I thought West Brook big edge was players 3-8... The supporting cast for the Bruins just hasn't been good today
  3. I think if you factor in Fort Worth DFW is just as spread out as GHA Frisco Heritage HS to Duncanville HS is 44 miles North Shore HS to Katy HS is 41 miles for example.... Just one example of course but the distances are similar
  4. Don't think you can say that about Frisco Heritage...these kids have all been there and grew up there
  5. I think Dallas just approaches things differently....I've talked to guys who coach in Dallas and Houston and the talent is comparable but the mentality and commitment is different in DFW
  6. West Brook's guards got crushed in the 1st half..struggled handling the pressure and getting into an offensive flow..
  7. Orangefield has ten turnovers you are not winning this game doing that
  8. My personal opinion is the depth in 12-5A is better....if you take the top 4...they are probably pretty similar in fact 11-5A D1 may get a slight edge...but 12-5A's depth is the difference...Shoemaker, Connally and Hendrickson are going to be picked 5th, 6th, 7th...they would be multiple TD favorites IMO over 5,6,7 in 11-5A D1....Freeman may change that but we simply dont know right now what they'll be year one...but every week in 12-5A except for maybe one week you have to battle....there's at least 3 gimmie games in 11-5A D1 and maybe 4
  9. And of course 4th place Weiss beat LaPorte
  10. We liked 12-5A D1 just because of quality depth...Weiss brigns a ton back...the College Station schools are always really good....Georgetown may be a little down but very consistently a good football team...Shoemaker's been a good 6A team loaded with athletes that's just had really bad Rd 1 luck recently playing DeSoto, Aledo etc...Pflugerville Connally is up from D2 and was an area round team last year..Hendrickson may be 7th next year and they've been a solid 5-5 the past two seasons...
  11. Aside from this year it worked out ok at least in football...he took them to a regional final....they bottomed out this year but as young as they were its not surprising....
  12. Talked to Crum at length at the DFW Clinic about the possibility of going to Travis and then last night on the phone....obviously the family dynamic played a big role in his decision....I know that Jasper returns 16 starters...they played 13 sophs and 5 freshman on varsity last year... I think Bronson is the internal candidate if he wants the job and the vibe I got is he does want the job
  13. This weeks episode is up on YouTube [Hidden Content]

  16. Alvarez is a proven winner at multiple stops....this is a great hire....absolute ball coach
  17. Update on the victim "He's recovering. He's gonna have to push but he should make a 100% recovery."
  18. Southlake is a better job than Katy
  19. If you are Southlake why wouldn't you call Jeff Joseph??
  20. My guess is many of the kids involved have never seen a Death Row artist music video....the heyday of Death Row records was the late 1990s and by the early 2000s (before these kids were born) the label was irrelevant...they were probably portraying things they see online, social media etc...but I highly doubt Death Row Records had anything to do with it....no way to know for sure but most teenagers I know aren't watching music videos from the 1990s
  21. I think thats going a little overboard and context is key....the Carter kids were committing armed robberies and terrorizing the community...planning and intentionally doing these things.... This was kids being stupid and an accident happened....
  22. Agree that comes with the territory when you win....dont think the scrutiny will impact how SOC as a football program conducts business inside their 4 walls
  23. Death Row was a rap record label in the 90s...and yes their rap videos had guns in them (geez I sound like an old man lol)...but I dont think the nickname of the defense had anything to do with these kids making a poor choice...the defense could have been named Sunshine and Daffodils and they probably would have done this...kids do dumb things all the time......I had a cousin who got drunk w/his friends in HS (parents left them home for the weekend..not smart) and they decided to play russian roulette...luckily one of the kids who wasn't drunk saw what they were doing and put a stop to it
