IMO this is a totally different SOC team...they are really pretty average w/the receivers and passing game..QB is a very good runner, but the OL is the star of the offensive show for them
-
It was a bad combo of a district that got changed up after the fact and a first time page editor...I was also out of town on business the week we went to press so I couldn't do a last minute once over like I typically do...just a perfect storm of messed up
-
Definitely...the swapping of teams threw something off in the page editing process because I was the one who wrote the preview....Tepper felt horrible about it and did a seperate story on Angleton... The changes after realignment threw something else on that page off because we had La Porte 15th in the state pre-season but like 6th in district (Coach Berneathy you are welcome for the bulletin board material lol)

This moron took PNG last year, but went SOC this year, JMO I just dont think PNG's defense is at the level they were a year ago...I also believe SOC's defense is a step or two above where they were a year ago...should be a close hard-fought game where a PNG win is definitely not going to be a shock
-
Randle's OL is a concern they are not great...but Randle's defense is elite at all 3 levels IMO
-
SOC is home...seating is 14,575 but the hills around it they can get 20k in there

Confirmation Fri at SFA

Alamodome is equally inconvenient, has openings Saturday and is indoors with possible bad weather Saturday it may be attractive
-
Don't think either Coach wants Saturday since the state game is Friday night...
-
Well if its NRG it would have to be 10am Saturday
-
Part of the issue here is both teams want to play Friday and there's a lack of sizeable neutral venues available Friday night...NRG is available Saturday but not Friday...I know Prairie View has been discussed (seats 15k) with another 2-3k SRO but PV is dragging their feet...(why I dont know it'd be a big crowd for them)....SFA has been discussed as well, but not sure how interested in hosting SFA is....I dont think SOC is against a larger stadium because Coach Todd called me this afternoon and asked for the contact at NRG Stadium...the issue is NRG won't host Friday..

Huntsville is better than SOC at the skill spots...there's 3 big questions for them in this game 1) Can they at least match SOC's phsyicality up front on both sides of the ball? SOC is elite in the trenches this year 2) How does the freshman QB handle this moment against the best defense he's seen to date? 3) Can Huntsville play clean and not have self-inflicted wounds?
