  2. I want to congratulate PNG on making it to state again! Making it once is tough enough but back to back seasons is special! I know yall are going to bring the whole tribe, and South Dallas is banning together. Should be a great atmosphere. Good luck and safe travels!

  3. An understated benefit of deep runs, and one of the reasons deep runs tend to come in bunches. After this season, PnG will have a full 12 more weeks extra of practices and game experience , over the past two years, than most teams in the state. South Oak Cliff will have 18 extra (over the last 3 seasons) - Thatโ€™s nearly 2 full regular seasons extra! That experience can really build if underclassmen are taking advantage.

  5. I watched SOC against Midlothian and Lovejoy. Midlothian took a good lead then tried to keep running outside and throwing shirt passes. Didn't work. PN-G will go right at them and rarely throws passes to the line of scrimmage. SOC was not as big as I expected. They have some size but nothing like last year. The d-lines for both Midlothian and Lovejoy were much smaller than what PNG will bring. It will be speed vs size. We will need to play a full 4 quarters of A ball. SOC can get down and still make a run.

  6. Like I've been saying, keep eating what y'all been eating. On the first play let them know they are playing a team from Southeast Texas and don't let up on the gas. Make us proud Indians.

  7. Gonna be a helluva game!!! It will be won or lost in the trenches. Can PNG stop the dynamic running attack of SOC? Can PNGs o-line keep SOC d line pushed back enough to open gaps for Nguyen and Chatangier? Can PNG secondary stop SOC? Can PNG receivers win the one on one battles that SOC loading the box is going to create? Can PNG line hold up against the rush that is going to be coming on passing downs? I can't wait to find out the answers to these questions!!!! GO PNG!!!!

  20. Thank you very much to the Orangefield coaches, staff and community for a great tournament. Onalaska got exactly what we needed out of it by playing real competition in one of the best areas in the state for basketball. Great preparation for district play next week for our program.

  26. If they clear out the lower bowl following each game, will our GA-tickets get us back in for the second and third games? My group was planning to stay and watch all three games on Saturday. Thanks.

  27. Yes, had a house in LCM (same house I grew up in) which is open enrollment, but sold it last year. Have had our family homes in Orangefield (Granger Ln, Bobcat Trails, now Langham) for the last 26 years. When it came down to it, Ghost wanted to be home with the kids he had grown up with and we wanted him home as well, so we decided to not to build a new family home in LCM afterall.

  30. Orangefield is being underestimated. Kountze will be tough with their "Open Enrollment Policy" this year.

  31. I'll say this, I am impressed with this Orangefield team. They are much better than I thought they would be this year. But in regards to the LaMarque game, the decision making on the offensive end by LM had just as much to do with OF's comeback as to the Bobcats part. LM had 3 "unforced" turnovers in that last 1:30. Credit to OF for knocking down a couple of clutch three's and switching defense. That I can agree played a big part. Also, I was at the score table next to LM bench. I could hear the instructions coming from their bench and what was said in the timeouts. Let's just say the coaching wasn't the issue with their collapse. Congrats to Orangefield on another tourney title. Very well earned. I will be making a point to attend the games with Kountze. Should be some good ones.

  32. Whitmire is a great coach and we are very glad to have him and his family who by the way are all at every game. Maybe he has done more with less in the past, but he has real talent here in Orangefield right now and there is more on the way coming from the JH groups. Our big 4 (Scales, Wrinkle, Smith, & Thomas) are shooting the ball 38.8% on the season as a team from three and are over. 50% from two, which is a testament to their level of talent as players. Scales is being face-guarded and the others are making the opposition pay for their gamble by knocking down open looks and capitalizing on their own mismatches. That should always be the plan, but can only be done when you have the talent to do so. Bobcat basketball has for sure been battle tested in these last two tournaments this weekend and last, and Whitmire's knowledge for the game and motivational skills have no doubt been on display! Even though they are back to back Tournament Champions and (Big Sandy, & Bill Tennison), and have beaten several good teams, their most impressive victory probably comes in their overcoming a 10 point deficit with about 1:20 left on the clock in the fourth vs. Lamarque in the Semi this past weekend. That takes both excellent coaching strategy and talented execution. I hope to see you at some games this year. I'm biased, but they are a real fun group to watch and I know you don't mind stating the truth in what you see.

  36. The offense is a little more dynamic. Defense IMO is better in terms of scheme and body movement, but we took a slight step back from last year in terms of individual reads and tackling.

  39. If you think they mirror each other in what they do. Look at both teams stats. You should see they season stat lines. They are almost exactly identical. PNG Indians Passing 1850 yards 25 TDs 3 INT Rushing 3813 yards 43 TDs Total YPG 377 5663 yards for season. SOC Passing 2220 31 TDs 6 INT Rushing 3383 46 TDs Season YPG 373 5603 yards for the season.

  49. LOL, cites "LH (without top 2 RBs) losing in State Semi-Finals as evidence of offense not working. Ignores that LH is the top scoring offense in 5A, ignores that Franklin won back-to-back State Championships and set the all-time record for points in a season. Does not cite the hundreds/thousands of teams running the spread that did not make it to the State Semifinals or in some cases did not win a single game. Does not really know the size of other teams OL. Believes spread offense is better suited for "small OL".
