I am being told by some very high up UIL guys that this game will not take place. Bellville will advance to the 4th round. The UIL officials made this decision under the advisement of 89Falcon. Silsbee is appealing the decision.

I definitely agree that Lake Creek is a little overrated with the 1 ranking. They look good and they like to run it up on bad teams. Their toughest opponent this season I’m sure is Richmond Randle. That was a pretty close game until LC erupted for 21 straight points in the 4th Qtr. However, Randle had over 500 yards of offense, and LC won the turnover battle 4-0. Huntsville also had a 17 point 2nd half lead after punching them in the mouth early, but their defense tired and LC got the momentum back for the comeback win. PNG needs to key on bowling ball Byers and keep him in check at the line of scrimmage. Don’t let him get a head of steam or he is hard to bring down. I think when LC meets the physicality of PNG, they won’t stand up. Wouldn’t shock me if PNG runs away with it. Wrong team is #1.

It is a FOOTBALL game NOT a band contest. I guarantee the last thing on the coaches mind when picking the field was the band or drill team. If none of the bands or drill teams showed up this game it would still be played.........

Possibly... But what the heck, Ill provide some substance. You are correct, mostly, on Miller not visually standing out EVERY PLAY of the game. This is what makes him a great player and teammate. Also, why Silsbee is a balanced offensive team. He will rarely catch 10+ receptions, have 200+ receiving yards, multiple TDs, etc. His Junior year will probably be his best statistical year, for obvious reasons. Its no coincidence that Silsbee had 3000+ YDs rushing AND 2800+ Passing YDs as a TEAM. Biggest indicator of his ability to control & change the game is TDs. He makes the play when its in his hands to do so. Silsbee Tigers scored 80+ TDs last year... Dre'Lon Miller had 30% of those TDs. Execution of his ability is why he is the best player on the field and few people see the effectiveness because it is rarely accompanied by bright lights. jmo

I have silsbee stopping Bellville 5 plays of offense. 28 17. Round 4 tigers and Bulldogs. Jasper will beat them chumps from gobbler town 31 28. GET TO THEM AND THROUGH THEM. To Coach Rowe and the Brahmans, I suggest: 1. Talk about their mamas. 2. Use that P word that women hate. 3. Use “boy,” not that other word. Its 2023. 4. Flop. Always flop. But honestly, i can see this one being a higher-scoring affair with the last possession telling the tale. Silsbee might have problems with the Slot T, but I don’t expect Bellville to stop that a Silsbee O, either. Extracurriculars in this one have the potential to be devastating for Silsbee in this matchup. I think the Tigers get it done.

You have to give credit to the Richland players and staff. They were down 34-7 in the 2nd quarter and did not give up.

People who are saying stack the box, nope, it won’t work with what their OL was accomplishing every play. They had virtually no one blocking on outside. Sell out because at that point it didn’t matter, they getting their a__ kicked either way. I’m rushing from outside and hitting 1 in the mouth with or without the ball every single play. When Guzman went out, it hurt just due to his strength being missed. I don’t get it, does BH not have one coach that can adapt to what the other team is doing or do the other coaches that see it have to bow down to the DC call. WHAT YOU WERE DOING WASN’T WORKING! So frustrating to watch as I watch and want to armchair QB from the stands. Lol I understand it’s easy to say in a forum but I’m disappointed in the lack of making changes in the moment. They (Richland) were pretty much one dimensional. Another thing was the lack of discipline all season, and it cost BH in many key moments. You have a couple players that needed to be gotten control of because they were rest assured going to get a penalty. Coach Abseck yelling at the OL on the bench Friday made me wonder where that was all season. I’d loved to see him yell and bench one or two skill players due to their selfish acts involving their mouth and actions. But nope, it all depends on who you are, even if you hurt your team in the long run. There were many times all season that the referee just didn’t throw the flag and BH got away with the mouth and undisciplined play. The difference in going a few rounds deep and a championship team lies in this type of play.

I think with all the newer nice turf high school stadiums in the Houston area, that gives these colleges a way out of hosting. When I was in school, our playoff run went Kyle Field, Rice Stadium, Baylor Stadium. The high school stadiums have come a long way.

You are correct they tried to call everybody at Lamar to secure the stadium. The reason Lamar said no was because some key people needed to run the facility was going to be unavailable and they are short on staff.

I mean the kid played his senior year at LCM when he was a OF most of the time. He could have stayed. Im happy he didnt he was a good athlete.

Did Notre Dame, Alabama, Oregon, Texas A&M, Texas (Just to name a few) all offer Morris Joseph and 90 for LCM? Where they top 150 recruits nationally? Correct, this senior group went 3-6-1 when they were freshman so them losing this early don’t surprise me at all. Another thing a lot of folks fail to realize is that Katy has had most of their success in the D2 bracket which is huge step down in competition level compared to the D1 bracket. Hence why Katy ISD recently redrew the lines to ensure Katy goes D2 from here on out.

Most definitely! I learned one that surely I already knew. BH punched them in the mouth I’m sure harder than anyone all year. But on the other hand, I definitely didn’t expect Richland to roll over and take the beating in the 2nd half , but I’d expected BH to play a lot better to hold onto the win. Accolades go to #1 for carrying his team on his back to fight back. BH has no idea how to keep a big lead. The onsides kick after the score after halftime gave them so much momentum and hope. I’m selling crashing #1 from both sides making someone else beat me. #51 taking out two players every play. Crash from the outside as QB rides that handoff. If he pulls it and runs, QB may or may not make a big play but 1 ain’t beating me play after play. I’ve liked this staff and it’s easy to question calls after the fact but damn, I know football pretty well and what you were doing wasn’t working, wth keep doing thinking you’re going to get a different result. 1 and 51 hands down best players on the field yet we let them take over the game.

Brandon Prouse and his staff have quietly been building a program in the 'Ville. He has changed the culture since he arrived. These are river bottom kids who've had many obstacles to overcome between the 2 River floods and countless hurricanes back to back to back. They have a certain toughness and he knows how to Coach that dog... Discipline is on full display as the kids enter/exit the field, hat under the right arm and single file down the sidelines. After the game the entire team and coaching staff went to the 50, raised their hats for the opposing school's song in a show of respect and then all huddled up and prayed together. That's exactly how it should be. Congratulations to The Pirates team, staff and community!

My biggest concern with Lake Creek is the zone read. If PNG loads up on 21 the QB will run it and is good at it. They throw a lot of WR screens and passes to the flats. Our OLBs will need to play very disciplined football.

We win games by being the most physical team on the field. What the boys did to Rouse last night was a statement. Coach Mc and the defense will take away what you like to do on offense and make you win another way. Lake Creek’s offense runs through RB Tyvonn Byers, he’s a stud. If PNG can neutralize him and limit the big plays they win by two scores. I don’t think their defense matches up with our offense well at all. PNG is gonna lean on you for 4 quarters and that takes it’s toll on less physical teams.

LCM probably won’t gain much or any players but I do expect continued improvement with the program. However, WOS is no longer a program that can ride the winning tradition that draws and holds generational athletes, unless WOS makes a changes. I hope things change for WOS.
