You do not have the right to defend your property with deadly force. That is repeated by so many people, so many times and has to be one of the biggest myths in the law. Do you have the right to use deadly force if someone is trying to kill you, someone is trying to rob you (not theft), someone is trying to break into your home, so I want to try to burn down to your home or sexually assault you. You also have the right to defend another person, even if you do not know that person, under the same circumstances.

Crosby, the self proclaimed football Mecca of SETX, caused a little stir. I think it was under the guise of racist fears, but imo the real reason was the fact that Vidor had inexplicably beaten Crosby several times. Crosby has dominated the triangle schools and getting beat by Vidor several times was more than the Admin could stand.

the sad part about the reputation is you stand a better chance of being victimized in Beaumont, Orange, Port Arthur....

Just found out Crosby has an opening this week but I’m sure they don’t want to travel to Vidor... Let alone be embarrassed by the lowly Pirates again.

I would consider myself an outlier on the issue. I am not an anti-vaxer or refusing to take the shot because of who is in the WH. I refuse for the same reason I refuse the flu shot, tetanus shots, shingle shots etc, I do not get sick. Where some have used the term to mouth breathers as an insult, there are many who do most of their breathing through their mouth, which I am one along with 2 of my children. Both in their 30's have never had the flu or many of the common illnesses that people get in their early years. Covid and the flu are respiratory illnesses, I believe, just my 62 years of experience with my own body that my "natural immunity" will keep doing what it has, fight off these viruses and other maladies.

That is pretty much what I think. It was more likely murder but I doubt you would ever get an indictment. Texas law errs on the side of the defender and a reasonable belief. Under our law you do not have to prove self-defense. If the woman truly shot because she saw a peeping Tom only, that is murder. If the guy was breaking in or she had a reasonable belief that he was breaking in (what is reasonable is determined by a grand jury and if indicted, later by a judge or jury) it is lawful self-defense. I think it takes more than being in a yard or looking through a window to justify oppression is breaking in. But again, the burden is on the state to prove otherwise. And let’s face it, at the end a peeping Tom and possibly a sexual pervert is no longer with us. Other than his family there are probably not going to be a lot of tears shed. Had the circumstance been different and it was not a person peeping, the sentiment would probably be in the opposite direction and she would almost surely be indicted, in my opinion.

It is crazy some of the stuff I was reading. And it was put out as “fact”!! Stuff like, I have a friend who has a buddy who’s a cop and he says you can shoot anybody in your yard after dark and blah blah blah…. Uhhhhhh, no.

Past is irrelevant......present is all that matters and Vidor seems to have made things right in the present......

Interesting subject. Can’t lie as a Crosby fan I hated going to Vidor. For several reasons. The trip was number one followed by the wing T and that terrible field. Never thought about their past being a factor tho.

Crosby not wanting to play Vidor was based on Vidor's PAST reputation. A PAST reputation that some still hold on to in their the small, narrow mind. A small, narrow mind that will never allow them to see that people and town can change. So take you football facts, shine them up real nice, bend over....and you know the rest

I mean , that’s understandable. Cops have firearms on their hips. Last thing they need is the perp taking that and shooting the officer. So if the circumstances are correct, then absolutely.

It is serious, but we ve made it were everyone is coddled and believed to have mental issues when in reality they need to grow up and stop feeling sorry for themselves. there s a reason the greatest generation is called the greatest generation…. And I’m not even close in age to that generation. Mental health is real but it’s not as wide spread as society has made it.

Carthage turned WOS down last week. I wouldn't count on games being canceled at this point. This thing could be done by tomorrow night then things dry out.

Yes I was talking about attendance and atmosphere. Like Patty said, many are RSS graduates from the 90s whose kids attend BH. There is a rivalry between the kids now that wasn't there when I was in school. Back in the mid 90s BH was a 3a and where you went if you couldn't hack it at 5A Sterling or Lee to get to play. That is no longer the case with the boom that has occurred out there with mostly Baytown people. BH puts a lot of effort into making it known that sports are very important where as GCCISD is more about the everyone gets a trophy mentality with the 3 schools. That way they can have 3 bands, 3 qbs etc. I much prefer the one horse town where everyone is an eagle and an administration that wants to win and understands the publicity that comes with it. Now that the schools are roughly the same size, RSS and BH should play every year and I'm ok with mixing in GCM every once in while vs playing an HISD schools or traveling an hour away to play someone. I often drive by stallworth on a friday night and feel terrible for those kids with hardly anyone in the stands. Most of the time its either Lee or GCM that is playing when I see that. Go watch a BH game on a Friday night and the home side stands are full. If I am kid that is where I would want to play, its a great atmosphere.

They should have made a move to 6-man a long time ago.

PG I think lost both their QBs in the season opener and playing a freshman....lets not forget Argyle and Paris are both really good

Lots of variables. Two examples, neither of which would legally justify murder, but I feel differently about them. example one: a guy cuts between two houses to get to the next street over, a woman sees him outside her window and thinks he’s a peeping Tom, shoots him through the wall. Maybe he even heard her talking and glances in as he walks by. example two: a guy is staring through a window at a woman in an effort to see her changing, and she notices him and shoots him through the wall. do we know which example, if either, applies to this guy who got shot? Would you feel differently about a guy shooting a teenager who was in his backyard at night? Maybe the teenager was stealing something, maybe he was confused and thought it was his buddy’s yard, maybe he was just crossing through. There’s a reason that the law only allows for self defense under certain criteria.

For one and probably foremost is, I am sick right now, I might end up in the hospital or dead and this treatment can turn me around very quickly. No matter the long term effects, without it you won’t have to worry, you might not be here. Secondly, right or wrong, you can find a lot of information from medical professionals that say the mRNA vaccine works but it makes your body more susceptible to a more serious version of the disease later. Basically it will save your life this go round but it might kill you later. I don’t know the answer to either but I think that is behind the rationale of the thought process.

KOGT broadcasts a local team every week and names a player of the week from the broadcasted team. BC was the represented team for the week.

L-Town has definitely improved. The only reason for the loss Friday was the coach took a chance on a 2 point conversion instead of going for the tie. I'm glad he did, it showed he had balls and confidence in his boys. They kept REL on the ropes all night long. The Ganders two previous games one against a 6A team and the other against a 5A Div. 2 team who was in the playoffs last year were routs, 56-7 and 58-17, where Lumberton kept them from running away with the game.

lol. probably a smart move as far as wins/losses go. not so smart move as far as getting some playing time with a quality opponent. 👌

West Monroe did reach out to WOS Wednesday afternoon, but by that time WOS decided not to play last week and turned them down.

Its easy to fix a team hiding behind a keyboard. That's for sure. I see em on here every year since 2006. They come and they go. Some folks I argue with but have respect for because they provide stats and ideas (heres looking at you 14.2) and others just call kids out and talk about how bad they are or how slow they are. Even more have multiple accounts so they can be two people at once. I am same person every year with expectations for my favorite team to win. I also understand the challenges of competing against a SC finalist as well.

With other local 11 man teams. If Sabine Pass were to go the 6 man route, they would be a 1A DI school. Chester and Apple Springs are currently DII. In fact, that is our only UIL 6man district (13 1A-DII) we currently have here locally.

Historically they have been in district with Chester and Apple Springs many times.....
