Curious why teams like Franklin, Bellville and Liberty Hill has success with this brand of Slot-T and schools around here struggle with this brand of Slot-T?

PS -- It's my understanding that the former Vidor coach spent a lot of time with Liberty Hill studying them but could not replicate the success at Vidor that Liberty Hill enjoyed.

That’s crazy to me too because surely Vidor has more talent than Liberty Hill.  Also shocking Prouse hasn’t won state with it either, what with Deweyville having way more studs than Duncanville or Katy…

I don't think so. Looking back to the winners last year. Coach Joseph won. He wasn't coaching PNG in 21-22 school year. These awards have to be for the actual 2023 year. And I beleive @pine curtain is right about it too. Another coach that went further into the playoffs and over achieved should have won.

He said 22-23 school year (which would have been 2022 football season).  That’s my understanding too - is that not correct?

  3. Dallas filing any sort of grievance with the UIL is hilarious.  They are the dirtiest district (and region with the metroplex in general) of any area of the state and it isn’t even close.  They made an example out of Duncanville in basketball but honestly that’s the tip of the iceberg.  I would bet a large amount of money that SOC has multiple starters that are questionable enrollees at best.

Tough Loss, Anahuac has a good club. I think 3rd-5th in this district is wide open between: Buna, Anahuac, & EC.

Definitely agree.  Honestly 2-5 could be wide open.  I think Kountze is the clear favorite and I like Orangefield next but overlook any of the top 5 teams at your own peril.

I wasn’t too surprised here either. I watched a couple Anahuac games earlier this season. They lost a good bit to graduation but they are very well coached this year from what I saw.

They hired Clay’s assistant from HJ right?  Seems like whoever it was will be a good one. Looks like the Panthers are going to be right in the mix.

Name a team that would not take a TD when the refs call it.  I didn’t see the play live.  Did they review it?

That kid on that “good call” commercial a few years back.  I thought that was the most unrealistic thing I’d seen until I actually saw Devon McCain tell an official during a Silsbee game that the ball was off of him instead of the opponent as the ref called (of course Silsbee was up by about 30 at the time).  Do you think the official changed the call?  Of course not.

To be fair, I’m sure that was the first and only time the ref had ever had a kid do that and had no clue how to handle it.

Sorry Hoops. I watched sportscenter this morning and the explanation was very clear. 70 had reported as eligible twice before in the game. You can’t have 2 ineligible players report as eligible. That’s where I’m at. They had 3 chances and couldn’t get it done. Maybe going for the tie and overtime would have made more sense after the first failed attempt. Even though Dallas is my team, I would be upset if the call was bad. I don’t enjoy winning like that. Sure wish they would have seen the illegal contact on Lamb all night. I’m sure we will meet the Lions again.

Gotcha.  I saw a different explanation but calls are a part of the game anyway.  And definitely agree he should have just kicked the PAT after the penalty.  I love the way he coaches (much more than our guy) but I didn’t get that at all.

  8. Ok, I’m a lifelong Cowboy fan but the end of that game was a travesty.  Dan Campbell might be my favorite coach in the league now (even if he is a durn aggy) and he and his team got robbed (although why he went for 2 again was pretty baffling). The average NFL referee salary is north of $200k. There has to be some accountability for them blowing calls like this.  Especially in that moment.

    Good coach but baggage.......

Yeah but his baggage is legal now basically.  They’ve just legalized what a TON of programs were doing but the Tigers got busted for.

    Yep

but if they keep winning at this rate…..he may not be there long.

Rumor has it a former employer would like him back.  I would think in 90 percent of places that just wouldn’t be feasible but LSU has always had a healthy (or unhealthy depending on perspective) amount of not giving a rip.

Well I don’t watch as much sports nor attend as I used too…..5 kids and farm life.🤷‍♂️

mcneese is the clear cut favorite in the southland and I thought this before the Michigan win

No doubt.  Probably the best roster in the conference and easily the best coach.  Could run the table.

Boosters are gonna have to start giving out NIL bonuses to get guys to play in these bowls. Minnesota’s boosters had to pony up $30k to get their qb to play against Bowling Green on Tuesday.

Bingo.  I can’t remember exactly but Arch has either a $3M or $5M bonus if he starts a playoff game.  I expect bowl game payments to be common place very soon.

2nd best team in the Big 12 beats the Ags scout team by a TD.  Our 4th string QB didn’t look bad with 361 yards passing.

That’s what I’m saying.  Prime territory for one of the most historically mid programs in CFB.  Just give it some thought before you poo poo it.,,,
