    Supposedly the numbers said otherwise.  It is doubtful anyone gets 50% though so likely heading to a runoff.  You would think Covey would get most of Davis’ supporters’ votes.  But will they vote in a runoff?  And apparently Phelan is spending about a million a week right now and can he overcome any deficit by outspending if he is indeed trailing?

    Apparently according to last reporting, Phelan had spent over $9m and Covey $500k.  But the rhetoric I’ve seen is that West Texas is trying to buy this seat supporting Covey.  And all these years I thought I was good at math…

    I told someone today if IP had known how much $ was going to be spent on mailers in this election, they could have kept the mill open another year at least.  The money spent on that race is going to end up being staggering.

    Thanks for the info!  I know they have some really good kids coming up too.  And to be honest, in terms of skill and upside, after Scales, the Thomas kid appeared to me to have the highest ceiling.  He looks like he could be a really good one over the next couple of years.  Did a lot of things pretty well, especially for a sophomore.  But they are definitely losing some key pieces.  Forgot about Rawls.  Wrinkle got most of the praise out of that group (and he definitely deserved it - he played really hard and was super gritty), but all 4 of those guys were indispensable in that run.  Hopefully the young guys coming up will fill in those gaps.  But as we discussed when he was hired, love that we have Whitmire and his staff developing those kids.

    A win vs. Wheatley Friday will put the Tigers playing in their 14th regional final in the past 20 seasons.

     

    Been a pretty descent two decades for Silsbee.

    They are a “blue blood” of Texas HS basketball. Rarefied air to be sure.

    Exactly.  The problem with living by press is when you play teams with size and elite (relative term) guards.  Hitchcock’s basket may look like Holland with all those windmills…

    Hitchcock by 10-20.  I predict a lot of dunks if Kountze stays in that diamond too long. If Kountze shoots the lights out, and rebounds better than expected, could have a puncher’s chance.  They should match up better than OF regardless.

    I think the AAW line would be around 10-12.  Harris would be the best player in the game.  Miller second.  But the next 3 or 4 would be Hitchcock guys imo.
