Nice road victory. Lamar trailed most of the game and came back to take a lead near the end of regulation. Nicholls tied to force overtime and Lamar came through with the victory.

Next is McNeese on the road Monday. McNeese probably the best in the Southland right now and undefeated at home.

Cards definitely stole one but also that’s about as well as I’ve seen them play.  The first two conference games were against probably the two worst teams in the conference.  The good news is Lamar isn’t the worst for the first time in 3 years.  Monday will tell us a lot about levels I think.

No… the Golden Triangle is BMT, PA, Orange, and anything inside of the triangle formed by those three cities.  Or the Triplex, if you were around in the 80s.

SETX for me is basically anything East of the Trinity up to 190. But schools on the on that 190 corridor are kind of SETX outsiders. Livingston, Woodville, Jasper, and Newton are still in, but barely.

Lum and Silsbee, for instance, are SETX but not Golden Triangle. Winnie? Setx, not triangle. Vidor? Triangle. Deweyville? SW Louisiana.

    It’s simple.

    This is the correct answer.

DeBoer has certainly proven that he is one of the best coaches in the country and it's a good move for both parties.

What's next for UW? I lived in Seattle for a big chunk of my adult life and I've followed the program for a long time. The cupboard of top-flight coaches is pretty light. They might have to think outside the box, which is weird considering that they played for the natty just four days ago...

Got a bit of family in Gig Harbor so I’ve always followed since I was a kid in the Don James days.  DeBoer was kinda an outside the box hires.  He had always had success but not long at the D1 level.  The huskies seem to have a solid AD.

Ktz presses them out the gym.

Kountze’s depth along with the defense they play will cause 95 percent of teams serious problems.  It’s the 5 percent that have elite guards where it falls apart because it leads to easy buckets on the other end.  Then the question becomes how good is your half court defense?  As often as not, it’s relatively weak due to reliance on the press.  This is why relatively few teams do this at the next level and the ones that do, use it to eat shot clock vs causing turnovers

Having said all that, Kountze could win every game by 20+ until they play a Hitchcock and then they could get beat by 20+ if they are unable to adjust.   In terms of Orangefield, Scales is probably the best ball handler I’ve seen there in the almost 30 years I’ve been following (and only a sophomore).  This will definitely be the most interesting matchup of the district imo

FYI, Saban will still have an office in Bryant-Denny. He made clear to all involved today that he wants to help the next coach succeed and keep the program at the pinnacle of the sport. Milroe is signaling business as usual.

If it turns out to be Schumann, I’m a lot more comfortable with it under these circumstances.

I don’t necessarily hate that hire for Bama either.  Defense wins championships and he’s spent his entire coaching career under the greatest defensive mind (Saban) and second greatest defensive mind (Smart) in CFB.  Crazy to think someone that young could get that job.  But could be a genius hire.  If not, shouldn’t take a lot od money to get out of it.

Sounds like DeBoer is the favorite now

Supposedly the Nike money tied to Lanning is crazy.  To be honest, I’m not sure DeBoer wouldn’t be my first choice after Kirby of ANY coaches in college football (including Harbaugh).  104-12 record as a head coach is insane, at any collegiate level.  Imagine with Alabama’s resources and pedigree…

I think he’d stay anyway. He’s about to be the HC of the premier team in the SEC.

Saw some Alabama folks discussing this yesterday and they basically said the same.  They don’t think they could get Sark anyway.  I wouldn’t lose sleep either way to be honest.

  8. I didn’t know whether to put this in college sports or here but since they are obviously better at treason than football…

Isn’t open enrollment enough?  Now these idiots are selling nuclear technology to adversaries to pay ex-coaches and players for their dumpster fire program?  We don’t need this trash in the SEC or receiving PUF and/or other state funding…
