When I saw them they had 3-4 '6 "5 or better.
I watched them beat Tyler Legacy by 38 then they beat Nacogdoches by 38.
Like I said, really thought they would have beat Dickinson.
Helps when Dickinson finally got their PG Boyd back.

Not surprised honestly with their stud guard being cleared to play. What was Andre Curbelo stat line?? Did he play a ton of minutes for USM?
13 and 6. He can go. McNeese just 20 pieced them but he obviously didn’t play.

I hope Orangefield hires someone to upgrade that stadium. I like to go to Friday night games, but the experience at PNG compared Orangefield is night and day.
To be fair, you are going to exclude about 99% of the schools in the state if you are comparing them to PNG, maybe 100% for all I know. But you are also 100% correct that McClain needs upgrading.

You guys just don’t understand. On the gridiron bEAST Texas is different. Very impressed Belleville hung with them.

Gotcha. I just thought if there was a reason to come back, it would be his kids and he went there. Check with any realtor and they will tell you which is the more desirable district. But from an athletics stand point, and money, absolutely get it.

Words from the man's mouth himself : doesn't plan on going anywhere until his kids are graduated if they'll have him there.
I’m definitely not saying you are wrong but the guy he’s replacing had the same story until he was officially hired. And I can promise you it tore him up inside but sometimes you have to say what you have to say because you aren’t at liberty yet to say otherwise. It’s just the nature of the beast and many coaches would love to be completely transparent but just can’t until they can. Best I can explain it. Again, you may be 100 percent correct on Peevey. But it wouldn’t be the most shocking thing in the world if you weren’t. Primarily for the reasons you state for why he is staying.

Not sure what happened tonight just disappointed I didn't get my free chicken.
Played the best game of the season imo. Shot it really well which helps. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

Unfortunately for your thoughts, no school is going to hire an 0-50 coach. More likely that would get you fired. Although this coach might be the nicest guy in the world.
Buna just hired one in girls hoops who had a very poor record at his previous school. He wasn’t a popular hire for that reason, understandably. I contended he was a very good hire because I know the young man, his passion, his character, and his tremendous knowledge of the game. In his first year, I would say he’s done a very good job by virtually all accounts. And it will only get better as he and his girls grow. So sometimes, those Ws and Ls can be misleading.
in point of fact, Nick Saban has a losing record in the nfl. What a hack 😉

I doubt it. But could that elite coach foster and grow the talent pool? I think so.
Agreed, no question. Basketball, for reasons stated earlier, is obviously the easiest of the major sports to find success quickly with the right coach. At any level.

Again, this is where we’ll disagree. It’s not about the talent pool. It’s about getting right coach. Will some teams ever get the right coach? No! We see that around here.
Do a little study on how bad it was at Stephenville before Briles got there. Brownwood was the big dog. Then Stephenville won 4 Titles in 7 years.
I wonder what Aledo’s history looked like before Buchanan arrived?Do a little study on the population growth of Aledo and the metroplex in general and see if you can connect those dots.

And @Reagan, I get where you are coming from and I agree with you plenty on the effects a great coach can have on a school. Smalley became the all time winningest coach at OF but you seem to think BC was crazy for hiring him. And your definition of “elite” is a bit nuts buddy. And I mean that in the kindest possible way. If you don’t think Kevin Foster at Big Sandy is “elite” because he doesn’t have a state title, you’ve lost your mind. I could take anyone with an above average basketball IQ to watch BS play and they would agree they are about as well coached as is possible in that sport. He’s better than the majority of college coaches I’ve seen.

Well, how many do you think may have said the same thing about Carthage, Aledo and Stephenville before Surratt, Buchanan and Briles showed up?
I have no idea. But do you honestly believe those schools have a similar talent pool as Bridge City? Comparing Bridge City to those in places is a bit misguided, to be overly kind.

Help me out: How many State Titles does Carthage have before Surratt got there?
This is tricky for me because I think HE (and others like Briles, Todd Dodge, etc.) could have similar results at Gilmer, Daingerfield, probably Newtons and West Oranges as well. But he can’t do what he’s done at Bridge City or Orangefield. Mr Magoo could walk through the weight rooms at those schools and see there’s a huge difference in the jimmy’s and joes. And football is the most difficult because of the numbers you need. A lot less difficult in hoops where you only need 7-8 dudes to field a team.

Simpleton....ALL YOU TALK ABOUT are the W's and L's.... It's more than that!.... Most kids are realistic enough to know that they are NOT going to compete with the top tier programs in the state. NO matter who the coach is! Damn dude are you that clueless?!?!?!?
Exactly. Nick Saban could coach Bridge City. They ain’t beating Carthage 99 times out of 100. Maybe 100 out of 100 but I hate to ever say anything is impossible.

You think there’s no difference in the Carthage coach and the Nederland coach?
Comparing Surratt to virtually any HS coach in the country is kind of like comparing an NFL coach to Lombardi or Belichick. Virtually every coach will fall short. Kind of like asking a basketball player why he’s not as good as Jordan or LeBron, or why he doesn’t shoot it as well as Curry.

Prouse makes alot of sense. BUT. I know deweyvilles pay scale is good. May be better than OF
I think they are pretty close. OF is a bit more but not significant. It’s conceivable Brandon could tell them thanks but no thanks. He has a good thing going there and they love him.

Ags need to build on that 11th rated recruiting class in the SEC with a win tonight. It was still good enough for 21st overall according to ESPN, while Tech signed the #1 recruiting class in the new Big 12 and was right behind A&M at 22. Maybe aggy should run back to Big 12. With Texas and OU gone, they might not be nearly as mediocre this time around?
