I agree that Marco was not a good AD. He hired a softball coach that can’t win, he did not get rid of the baseball coach that players can’t stand and post season tournament record is really bad, got rid of Harmony and Price. Women’s basketball has certainly slipped since they let her go and Price’s teams at least competed.
I will say the new AD appears to have made a good hire in football. They have a chance to finish 6-5 or 7-4Maybe Brooks team will be better this year
Well tonight is the best I’ve seen them play under the Brooks regime. Also the best crowd we’ve had in a while in a big win over UTSA. I don’t know if the Roadrunners are going to be very good or not, but it’s still a game we would have pissed away in the past couple of years. Hopefully a harbinger of things to come. We shall see.

Glenn Schuman Georgia DC. I wouldn’t be opposed to a young hire like this, but he’s never been a head coach.
He has 6 championship rings and he's 33.
He was one of 3 people in the prime Alabama defensive meetings, alongside Saban and Kirby.
He was the first person Kirby hired when he got to Georgia
He is an Incredible Xs and Os Defensive Coach, Turned down the Eagle's DC Job
He is a better recruiter than anyone on our previous staff. He is personally credited with 12 5*s on 247.
He makes less than $2MM a year, with no buyout
He is Kirby's right hand man at Georgia, see quote below
"He's the son of a football coach. He's extremely bright. He's extremely passionate. I rely heavily on Glenn for input on practice schedules, defensive design, and thinking outside the box. There's not a time when I think of who can I ask my staff that understands what we want and what we need when Schu [Schumann] is that guy. He's very talented."
-Kirby Smart
Sure, he is a risk. But he is a risk with Championship potential. Traynor and Elko haven't done anything to show they have Championship potential.Neither had Kirby. I think at this point, everyone is looking for the next Kirby. Which might be to say, looking for the next Saban as it appears Kirby isn’t slowing down any time soon.

Cristobal said them same then hit the road to Miami.
Phil Knight won’t let this one go without a fight. Football coaches don’t get paid enough to money whip him. But he did spend some time at UGA so you never know if he just wants to get back to the SEC. His agent needs to tell him to be quiet though so at a minimum they can get that fat raise/extension.

I'm leaning towards A&M hiring Urban Meyers!
I do agree with you though. Of the ones mentioned, I think he would be the best fit/surest bet. I don’t know that Lanning is attainable. I don’t think Oregon/Phil Knight is going to let another one get away without a fight. The only issue I would have with Meyer is he doesn’t seem to last anywhere for very long. But I don’t think there’s a more proven commodity available at the college level anywhere other than Smart, Saban and Swinney.
Speaking of Dabo, he is another interesting idea. And he’s already accustomed to coaching in a cult situation.

Saw something on twitter that made me laugh:
A&M would hire Colonel Sanders before they hired Deion Sanders
You would think. That might be the worst hire in a string of bad hires.

$75M buyout. And they JUST gave several of the assistants extensions. Hunter Biden is doing a masterful job running aggy’s athletic department.

Good luck the rest of the way! That team looks built for a run to me.

Good grief. Whether Josh stays or leaves, I wish him the best. He has done a TON for OF in his short tenure, not the least being his job as AD. He has made several “home run” hires and has taken his job as overseer of ALL sports seriously.
As for the game, when you fall several scores behind, it is tough to navigate your way back with the slot T. Same could be said for the wishbone in the old days. It’s an offense built for keeping possession of the ball, shortening games, etc. It’s still going to be better suited for the type of kid OF generally gets. The Bobcats are simply not going to have superior athletes once you get to the playoffs (a round or two in especially) most of the time. It is what it is. One game that gets out of hand and all of sudden it’s the coaches, the system, etc.
Maybe junior just got punched in the mouth and got his tail kicked?

Yeah Lamar never lead this game and at it was 67-48. with 7:36 to play.
I wish the program all the luck in the world but I am still disappointed the way Tic Price was treated. As I posted below Tic is back in administration with the Southland Conference.
I believe to be successful again Lamar will need to take a new approach to hiring the next head coach. 12-50 record since Alvin came on.
Agreed. Tic didn’t deserve the treatment he got. But I’m not sure Marco did anything well in his short tenure as AD. I am hoping this is the year they figure it out. A guy can hope lol

That was a great ground pounding drive of 89 yards.
Hopefully a back breaker.

Well I know it is just an exhibition game but took overtime to edge St. Thomas 71-70
We shall see. Blew out a bad NAIA team and then played it respectably close I guess against a mediocre SMU team. We shall see. Probably a make or break year for this staff if I had to guess.

I'm really liking this Aggie team. Got the makeup of a very good tourney team.
I agree. Really rooting for them this year, primarily because of Hef. Believe it or not, he’s a pretty marketable commodity and already has a degree. He’s a loyal guy playing for his dream school. I hope he and his team have a storybook season

Don’t remember the exact scores, but at BC/OF/HJ
BC won both games. Beat HJ by about 10, and beat OF by 4.
OF beat HJ by 10ish.
Thought BC and OF both looked good against HJ. Didn’t see any of the BC/OF one. HJ missing its top 5 or 5 of its top 6 guys. #20 from BC I really liked and they had a scrappy group. I know they were missing a couple as well, one of which apparently may not play this year who has some size. OF has a couple of key kids still in football too but they are better and deeper than I realized. The scales kid may have been the best player in the gym today. Kid can go.

He was absolutely terrible those last 4-5 drives of the half
Yeah that was way premature. He’s been awful. Since the first couple of drives. My bad.

If he leaves, he leaves. But you can’t convince me Maliik isn’t a better option right now.

At the BC/HJ/OF 3 way scrimmage this morning. It’s preseason basketball so it’s not polished but the officiating has been about perfect, especially out if the chute. Looks like a fourth of the chapter is here but these first three guys are all pretty good.

Rest In Peace Coach. I always considered him one of the greatest X's and O's coaches ever
No doubt about it, in my mind anyway. Probably the greatest motion offense coach of all time. And one of the best man defensive coaches. Along with Mike Leach, one of my two favorite coaches of all time at the college level.

Being told that Bullfish might be a better option for pregame meal.
Anyone been to this place?
On a Friday it’s K-Dan’s hands down. Bullfish is pretty good too. That might be the better option tonight if it’s not too busy.

What about Dan Campbell? I know it’s usually the other way around and college guys move up to NFL. But it’s not unprecedented and he is a member of the cult. Guy is super likable which usually helps recruiting and I think he’s one of the better coaches in the league. And A&M can certainly afford to pay him NFL money.
