I think they won because they scored more points than LSU, but hey, that’s just me.
That and they probably have the baddest women’s player on the planet!

Well, as above, the Governor thinks they walked off before the anthem.
From the article: “It is time that all college boards, including Regent, put a policy in place that student athletes be present for the national anthem or risk their athletic scholarship! This is a matter of respect that all collegiate coaches should instill.” Hey @Big girl what did the Governor just say?! He said their scholarships might be revoked. He said -- It's a matter of respect!!
Well if you are going to be wrong about what happened by falling for clickbait articles’ titles attaching a video proving exactly the opposite, at least be wrong with the holder of the high office of the state where the university is located (can’t imagine a politician jumping in trying to get some political gain - weird!)
Again, in the games I’ve attended (SLC, Big 12, SEC, WAC, ACC, Conference USA, AAC), very rarely is EITHER team on the floor for the anthem. It’s just the norm in college basketball. Not saying it’s right and I’m sure it will be changing. But to make it an LSU and Mulkey thing is just uninformed, “low information” arguments.

Caitlin Clark….. what an athlete. Glad she played while I was alive.
I’ve gotten past the NA thing. Just don’t kneel in protest.I’m certain Mulkey would agree with you.
And I agree 100 percent about Clark. She is something else. I never thought I would see the day I would rather watch the women’s tournament than the men’s, yet here we are.

More "misleading" news.
Starting to feel like the "right" has become the "left" in this department.
smh
We fall for the media’s bs on both sides over and over again. Like Bart Simpson touching the stove.
Anyone remember this narrative? Tough to have it both ways…
-
The irony is Mulkey was the only major sport coach at Baylor who refused to let her players participate in BLM protests and has an American Flag suit in her repertoire…

They didn’t walk off. They were in the locker room when the anthem was played. Like both teams usually are in probably 99 percent of the 200 or so college basketball games I’ve attended. I get the criticism and don’t fault you for it. But it’s a college basketball issue, men’s and women’s, not an LSU issue. I would be surprised if Iowa is always out there as well. Coaches use the time when they play the anthem and school songs to do last minute prep. Unlike football when the teams are already out there when it’s played.

Unbelievable Cougar High advanced. I’ll say it, if Wade Taylor had even been “okay”, they win that game comfortably. He was selling from beginning to end and was just god awful. Tough to beat a one-seed when your best player is playing like it’s the 15th run of an open gym but the Ags almost did just that. They were the better team last night imo.

I have no reservation saying BTHO Cougar High! (Ok, that was a bit of a lie and I may or may not have thrown up in my mouth a little bit but I am definitely Team Aggy/Buzz/Hef tonight 👍)

This was the weakest I’ve seen the Southland conference in many years. But I thought McNeese may have been good enough to compete and get a tourney win because they were that much better than the rest of the league. Apparently not. Getting run out of the gym.
I did tell someone they wouldn’t been a solid double digit dog against that ACU team that beat Texas a few years ago in the first round. That team was significantly better than McNeese, but so was the league then when you had Sam Houston, SFA, etc.

I got McNeese making a hell of a run in this tournament.
Samford will be tough in the second round 😉

Was told NCAA runs the WBIT, not sure who runs the Women's NIT.
Ahhh makes sense. I was just looking at the WNIT field and they have some stinkers in that one. Didn’t realize NCAA owns the men’s but not the women’s NIT

Next game is against Washington State in the 1st round of the WBIT.
So not even an NIT bid? They did change the rule this year. Last year it would have been an automatic NIT bid as regular season champions.

I had heard that rumor too but I think he stays.
But these days, who really knows.
I honestly hope he does. I’ve always been a Buzz fan and there’s no secret he’s given this kid the keys from the beginning.

Huge win for my Aggies over Kentucky. That should put them in NCAA tourney. A&M advances to SEC tourney semifinals.
I wonder if this will help keep Wade Taylor? Rumor has it he was a lock to enter the portal after the season. He was already about to get paid. This will drive that number up. Cougar High is allegedly a front runner for his services.

Will they get a bid?
They were rated like 21 last week, in the mid major poll. Their name got tossed in the recycle bin as the buzzer sounded. Might help them hang on to Aqua for another season though.

FYI, the names I listed are strictly a list of players in the BE coverage area and not our coverage area. Otherwise, that list would change quite a bit.
Speaking of teams I have seen this season. My total of teams I personally saw this season ended up at 121.
Game total ended up at 108.
That's now 8 consecutive seasons I have seen 100+ teams.

McNeese gonna get paid!
Gave him an extension worth 3 times what the next highest paid coach makes (Brooks) and won’t have to pay a nickel of it and will pocket over a cool mil. They need to throw the AD Schroyer a stack of those flags (chips) from the Nugget.

Lamar is not winning this one down 63-47 with 7 minutes left. But I would have been very curious if McNeese still would have made tourney if they had lost this game.
They are projected as a 13 seed but that projection has them winning the conference tourney too.
IMO, if they were to lose this game or the next, they still are a NCAA tourney team.
Agreed. And same here. Having this same discussion today. They deserve to be in regardless. But this conference is pretty low on the national scale and getting two teams in would be unheard of. Will Wade factor would help obviously.

Agreed. As long as Wade is there they will have both a coaching and recruiting edge.
Lamar is a decent team not a good team. I'd rate them slightly below the middle of the pack nationally. They have seemed to played better as the season progressed and Pryor is the only senior (if the rest of the team chooses to return).
Rumor has it that 1.2 million buyout won’t make it to the summer. He will be joining his former conference allegedly.
-
There are levels to this. Players and coaching. McNeese is on a different one on both fronts.

But here are some names to consider for that 2nd team:
(no particular order)
Bottley - Silsbee
Winn- LC-M
Seastrunk - Hamshire-Fannett
Garrett - West Brook
Wrinkle - Orangefield
Scales - Orangefield
Williams - United
Young - PA Memorial
Hilstock - PA Memorial
See I knew you were way better equipped. That’s a really good list.

Who would be the 2nd five?
That’s a much tougher question and one that our site director would be much more qualified to answer 😉
In all seriousness, I would defer to someone who has seen ALL of the area teams to answer that one (I.e., you).
