The only part of the 1st round that is guaranteed is that the 1st place team in each district gets to decide on 1 game vs 3 game. Everything else is agreed on, flipped for, etc. In the lower classifications, the schools are pretty spread out, so its hard to go a "home and home." You usually see that in the 5 and 6a levels where the bi district rounds are closer together.

The transfer qb last year was not recruited.....His father shopped him around as he wanted him to play qb and didnt have the opportunity where he was at.....He looked into other local schools as well. FACT....

What about the assistant now at OF that was mentioned earlier. Been around the game for a long time, knows the system from McDonald, kids really like him. With the kids now, and the ones coming up from the Jr. high in the next year or 2 I could see him doing well.

Ok, you keep believing all that. Persuading transfers been happening for years all over the state behind closed doors. I believe there is even a bill being pushed in Austin right now with uil support to let 8th thru 12th students transfer once for athletic purposes to bring it out from behind the scenes. Barrier might be a great coach, but he is no better then some on staff now. 99% sure the D1 QB prospect is the main reason he would get offered the OC job at Ned. to possibly increase Ned offensive power. IMO, the soph. QB from last year is a better athlete with more speed, quickness & solid arm. Not sure either would have enough around them on the line to be a highly potent offense.

I read somewhere about 35 years ago (way before Google) that the FBI, believe from studies some thing like 90% of major crimes were committed by someone under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It did not mean that they were plastered but maybe a guy about to commit a robbery might have two or three beers to take the edge off. Consumed courage….

Also on the Organized Crime law, I have talked about a group of people (called a Combination) committing crimes but they may not know each other. This is the actual law from the Penal Code. Sec. 71.01. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter, (a) "Combination" means three or more persons who collaborate in carrying on criminal activities, although: (1) participants may not know each other's identity; (2) membership in the combination may change from time to time; and (3) participants may stand in a wholesaler-retailer or other arm's-length relationship in illicit distribution operations. You can see that they don’t even have to know each other and the membership can change. It does not have to be a static group of let’s five people in all five people always committing the same crime. That’s why I gave the example in the other thread about a guy breaking into homes another guy is storing the stolen property and a couple other guys help sell the stolen items but don’t even know who stole it or where. A combination goes back to gang laws but all illegal enterprises are not gangs. Just because they don’t have a name, a common hand sign or specific color, etc.. the are still under the gang type laws. A defendant or his attorney cannot make the case, this guy is not in a gang because they don’t have a name or color. The state legislature simplified it by coming up with the term combination where the state doesn’t have to prove that people actually belong to a specific gang.

Barrier could get hired on his credentials without bringing his son. Is his son a bonus? Yes, but he isn’t the reason his father is or isn’t a candidate. As for confidence I will say this, the Anahuac kids had no problem with a freshman coming in and taking the starting role…

See? I my be a liberal, but I try and use common sense when evaluating positions.

I favor a progressive income tax, but something is bad wrong when the upper tax brackets are over 50% (on those who actually pay taxes on their income). We pay property taxes on things we own... but we don't pay sales taxes on our real property when it's purchased. Morally I have a problem with paying tax on income as it accumulates, but then having to cede most of it when I pass, also. It's always the have-nots who think nobody else should be doing any better than them. Neither the state, nor the general public have any right to my estate in front of my heirs.... and to state "well, they should cap that... we deserve that inheritance, not that man's family" just doesn't ring true in a free society. The idea that my kids will have to sell off land that's been in my family since the 1800s just to pay off an inheritance tax is preposterous. Or at least it used to be.

After a little blip on the radar the Rangers took 3 of 4 from the yanks, including a 15-2 spanking yesterday. DeGrom on the DL is a blow, but they got a 3-hit shutout from Eovaldi, and two other solid starts in the series. Seager is getting close to coming back, which will be a boost to an offense that is already raking.

Not sure. I’ve wondered the same. The new subdivisions seem to be a lot of younger families. So, may not impact HS numbers for a while. Have no idea how these younger people are affording the homes ($350-$500+) plus the cost of home/flood insurance now—if they can even get coverage. Don’t know about y’all over there, but unless you’re grandfathered in like us, you have few carriers that will insure & you have to get wind and hail separate from the state. It’s crazy. Funny thing is, we usually do better during storms than much of the rest of GHA because of strict building/drainage codes. But, we get hammered as being a ‘bay’ community & still in Harris County with Houston that floods like everyone knows any time there’s a little sprinkle.
