  4. Lol. I see after a bad year in which everyone has to admit. In which they still went 4 rounds deep. The haters are there. So there will be so many eating crow this year. Every team treats scrimmages the same way.only running a few select plays.but I'll be the first to say.wrs and QB has to get better.in which they will.but u don't see that the defense and special teams are better.so u heard it hear first.w.o and newton will be the last 2 teams playing in December.

  6. Live half H-F did not give up a TD. Defense looks very good. Secondary is fast and the D-Line is mean. H-F made a big goalline stand 1st and goal from the 3 yard line. H-F scored once and moved the ball very well. QB for H-F can run and throw. Very fast and hard to tackle. Have several good looking running backs. Fumbles killed a few drives. BC is running a spread Offense and look good doing it. BC has a lot of speed on offense. QB i think is young but good. He will be very good in the near future. He missed a few throws but like I said H-F Defense looked dominant. They had him on the run often. BC backs are big and fast. The big fullback is hard to bring down. Defenses will need to gang tackle the big guy. Both teams should do well in district.

  7. Pig, I just went back and watched the highlights of the scrimmage on Dobie's Maxpreps page. If I didn't want my QB getting hit, I would have had him wearing a red jersey. Guess what? They didn't have any of their QB's wearing a red jersey the entire scrimmage and with the type of offense they run, they were asking him to get hit. All of ours wore red jerseys, hence the reason the refs blew the whistle early when it came to our QB's. So you saying our coaches changed the rules is BS and sounds like you are the one full of crap...

  26. If our o line plays well, i feel like we will be able to throw the ball successfully. But my main concern is our defense. Specifically our d line

  27. A lot of the comments don't seem to look at the situation comprehensively. It is certainly not as simple as "Let them play!", "This is a conspiracy!" and "Rules are Rules!!" If you think of all the moving pieces and processes interacting together, you can unpack this thing a little better. Purpose of UIL - We seem to minimize the ultimate goal of the school system when we discuss athletics. The schools primary mission is to educate our young people to a standard. Academics. Extracurricular activities/contests are educational activities that provide much needed life experience and education that the classroom cannot provide. The UIL was formed to attempt to make these contests as fair as possible but also allowing competition. There are winners and losers, and both experiences are important to growth and development. Are they perfect? Nope, but there are a lot of smart people trying to accomplish this task. Transfers aren't positive - Transfers suck. You can say it is better for a person or program but I haven't seen any defense for transfers being "good". By their very nature, one or more of the following is true: Kid is leaving a crappy situation, academics, athletics or both. (sucks) Somebody is shopping the talent of a child for ulterior motives. (sucks) Transfers from struggling schools to good schools do even more harm to struggling schools. (sucks) The upheaval of new teachers, curriculum, and standards of a new school will have challenges. (sucks) Sometimes it is better for the kid and sometimes it is not. My point is, transfers aren't the magic answer and many times will cause more problems than they solve. Rule of Law - I am a huge opponent of "Zero Tolerance" rules and management. It is lazy and cowardly. While I am a bit of a stickler for rules myself, it is also intellectually dishonest to ignore the context of the individual situation. Sometimes the answer is "Yeah, this is not going to be satisfying but we must enforce the rule". And other times the answer is "This is a unique case and this rule will not apply." Motives - This rule exchanges the "sit a year for every transfer" and tries to discover the motives of people. Motives are incredibly easy to hide and incredibly difficult to prove. Therefore, by its very nature, the rule is going to be imperfect. The PAPF is an attempt to discover motive. The DEC is an attempt to discover motive. The SEC is an attempt to discover motive. Even with three checkpoints, there is no guarantee that this process will get it right. "That's an awful long post, GET TO THE POINT!" The UIL used an imperfect but thorough system to enforce a rule that is great in principle and extremely difficult to adjudicate. It sucks to see a young man with obvious talent not being able to compete but the process is designed to ensure fair competition, not the satisfaction of individual programs or participants.

  28. BU wins 27-20. Too many athletes on the field for the Timberwolves and that D line will be in the backfield every play.

  29. From what im told he had surgery in the Spring on his right foot, healed up, then hurt his left foot. If he plays at all this season it'll be playoff time IMO. They still set at WR though.

  30. I'll get a final tally Friday morning but as of this Monday morning, not including myself, 17 people have submitted their Pick'ems on this website. Out of them, 15 picked St. Pius to win our game. So basically that's a 11% chance that we will win according to the people like Buddy McGarrity...

  32. I'm actually a United fan that's followed Silsbee football closely the last 12 or so years. And I agree with you that there are some Silsbee fans that are delusional... for the most part, most are well knowledgable and nice people, at least from my experiences. Have a blessed kickoff week! ✌️😎

  33. sweet lol I hear ya, hell you have to let them enjoy their new scoreboard and their new turf which looked great btw. I didn't like the way they went dark green for 20 yards then light green alternating. I think it would have looked better one color all the way thru. Just my opinion

  35. Silsbee has plenty of athletes that will step up at the receiver position this year. Just like last year, not one receiver this year started last year and I think that group turned out pretty good so I like our chances. Again, let them get some game experience and don't judge them on the first couple or three games.

  36. Good question but I heard that there's some talented ones that came from JV last year..

  37. I know all the talk is about the qb situation, but who is gonna step up at receiver this year for Silsbee?

  38. Short QB didn’t stop Shadow Creek or Summer Creek last season. It's up to the OL to protect as with any QB of any height.

  39. Actually, It was having to make decisions while running for your life, in both games. Why would you even think about running a kid down in situations like those first two games, two first games against highly rank teams with great football tradition in highly hostel environment, I'm sure there was some errors. That hot shot RB was the scheduled starting QB in rotation, not someone that they "had to bring in" and no he didn't do a decent job. I declare Soulja, what where you watching? Do you remember the first time Foster started against a ranked team with great football tradition in a highly hostel environment? Yeah, he made some "questionable errors" also. It's something that happens in that type of environment. Foster had the chance and opportunity to get more experience and he took advantage of it. Like I said Foster should be the starter and I'm looking forward to seeing him take that next step. Because this years team will need a better QB than we had last year and with a year of experience under his belt everybody will be looking for it. TigerNation!!

  40. I don't want to run a kid down, but Johnson made some questionable errors especially in that PN-G game last year, and pretty much made us one dimensional and continued the same thing week two. I know they were against very good teams, but he was the starter at that time and it didn't pan out. We even had to bring in the hot shot RB to play QB some and he did a decent job doing that. ...and I remember the long pass to Turk. I'm also the one that originally said you can't teach experience. I'm rolling with the one that proved himself. Now, if Briscoe is athletic, he should get on the field some and I'd like that as it will put Silsbee in positions to win games. I just think that it won't be at QB.

  41. Let's go a little bit further and say the production of the first three games from last year. Now, game one was against the 5A #15 PNG Indians and a top QB in the nation, game two was against the #1 3A team in the nation Newton Eagles and their barrage of D1 players and game three was against the 5A #20 Nederland Bulldogs, that went down to the wire. I ask you who on our schedule was better than the first three teams? NOBODY! So, comparing the production in the first three game against the last twelve is irrelevant. Also, Johnson was not the starting QB last year, the QB position was a platoon project and it wasn't working. Johnson was just the better QB last year. As good as Briscoe is, Foster has the experience of starting in ten games last year, playing in twelve games and like the man said a betting man would roll with experience. From what I seen in practice and the two scrimmages, I think Briscoe has done a little better, but maybe not enough. Do I think Briscoe should start over Foster, No. Foster has game time and that means a lot. Lets see Foster's production against these first three team that are not as good a last year. I expect to see Foster take that next step. TigerNation!!! P.S. First pass of the season last year was a Johnson to Turk 75 yard TD.

  43. Let's see how the Silsbee O-Line blocks this year minus Lightfoot. I'm sure the coaching staff will have then ready to open up those holes for those 3 horses in the backfield. Is it true that Tarver is put and won't play this week? If it's true, then the running game may take a step back a little. Also, is the PN-G O-Line all the way healthy? I heard some of them are dinged up and remember, Big boy got carted off in Thursday's scrimmage. I hope he's good to go. What's his status? This game will hinge on trench warfare, more so with Silsbee as their bread and butter is the power running game.

  45. Yes, briscoe will no doubt be the better QB once they both reach their senior year, but is he better than Foster now, to give them the best chance to win, NOW. That's the question.

    Realignment Talk

It would be nice if they balanced the 3 schools and played each other. I figure that would help travel cost as well since all of your sports would have 2 of their opponents across town. The way it is right now with all 3 in different districts is not ideal in my mind. Would make some nice, healthy competition along with some natural rivals. All of those are fun things when your in high school. Maybe that is just a pipe dream though. Lee is smaller in size than Sterling and GCM so maybe the best we can hope for is Sterling and GCM to be the same size and Lee to be the smaller school. We shall see.... It would be interesting to see a district with GCCISD, Barber's Hill, Dayton, and Crosby all playing each other one day, but first things first is GCCISD has to all be in one district.

  47. Yep, and I disagreed with those waivers.

  48. It will be extremely interesting to see what the cutoff numbers will be. It would be nice to see all the GCCISD schools as a 5a. I think Sterling and GCM will be right at the cutoff 5a d1 and 6a. I guess time will tell.

  49. This pretty much says everything. A player doesn't leave Green or Boutte to play for another coach unless that player wasn't getting any playing time prior. Promises promises. I can certainly agree with a parent taking their child out of BISD and moving to HFISD for academic purposes.
