After Week 1, and seeing how teams played, I'm going to adjust my predictions. I'll probably wind up doing this weekly. Might be interesting. (Wish I knew the tie-breaks this year.) PAM - Clearly the front runner after an impressive performance against another solid opponent. La Porte - I'm holding them here for right now because of the opponent they played, and the skill talent. But, I wasn't aware they were going to TOTALLY change their offensive scheme in a year with less predistirct games to get accustomed. Don't get me wrong. I like the Pistol/Pro scheme much better than the Slot T for multiple reasons. Being able to both pass or run effectively instead of being so one dimensional will help in the long run, and they can use the QB's dual threat abilities. As an added bonus, it should help them learn to defend the pass better--which has been a historical weakness because they've not consistently been able to practice against the pass--which should help the D. But, the OL needs a lot of work, and I don't know about the 2 injuries now. The D actually looks like it has the potential to be a solid unit even after the blowout loss. They were in position. Fundamental tackling can be addressed, and Crawford's QB & WR were top notch talent. I think the Border Battle will be a massacre as the Deer have an impressive QB this year, and look to be a solid PO lock behind Dickinson in their district. It's going to take La Porte some time to learn the new schemes after so long running another offense. They're too busy learning right now to be able to just play. GCM - Until I see something different, I'm still going to keep them here. Lufkin - Somewhat similar boat to La Porte on O. Still learning. But, I still like their D. I can't fault them for their loss to Longview. They--and La Porte--probably played the toughest opponents of Week 1. No disrespect to the other opponents. Just the way I see it. Longview and Crawford will both advance very far in the PO's as long as the injury bug doesn't bite. (Crawford's program looked to have D1 numbers on their sideline.)

Some have sponsors from billion $ companies. Providing gear, equipment, busses. Pulling up in Rolls to drop off gold shoes. Oh and lots of $ for kids. How long before we start hearing about fraud and exploitation. Or worse?

Yeah that kid has been good. He was making plays as a freshman at WB.

Another good win for the Astros. Peck pitched pretty well minus the 1st 3 batters and 2 walks in 5th, Blubaugh pitched well, Abreu fair (2 walks), and Hader good as usual Hopefully they can string some wins together and stay above 500

I'm a BU fan but our lineman's behavior should be the rest of the Lumberton game and and least the first half of the upcoming game, if not the entire game. I have never seen nothing like that in my years of watching football.

Texas teams need to quit trying to go and play these teams from other states that really recruit like that. DeSoto does a little bit of recruiting I am sure, but they are trying to play teams that put together all star teams of talents.

Thanks for the updates. Fairly big opening weekend in the SLC. LU with a big win to open the season against a ranked opponent. Also, HCU traveled to SELA and beat a conference favorite. Good win to start the season for Crosby. Most complete game I’ve seen us play in three years, very easy to see the difference in the way the kids are prepared. I don’t expect the new, young staff to be as sound as BH next week but if they somehow do walk out with a victory I think the question immediately becomes “Can Crosby win a shocker somewhere in district play?”. Either way it’s the first time Crosby has been 1-0 in eight years so already kudos to the new staff.

Crosby is “6A” so it should look like this against a team two divisions below them. Would’ve liked to have seen this game with Poth still at DC for Dayton to really get a gauge on Crosby’s new OC but either way I think it was good work for both teams in terms of things they need to improve on moving forward.

I keep hearing that the talent is there for Nederland. If that is the case, why is the performance so poor? The defense is supposed to be good this season and you give up 300 yards rushing. Are they simply underachievers? Anyone’s thoughts on why their performance is poor?
