  1. I'm struggling to understand the mental gymnastics it takes to blame this shutdown on anyone other than the left when the right has already passed a clean CR pushing no republican agenda to open the govt back.

    Government Shutdown

I appreciate this explanation of the mental gymnastics, but I already knew what it looked like. Are you dizzy yet? The fact is Democrats are trying to hold the country hostage and force through policy that they can't pass through regular means because their party is such a dumpster fire they've managed to lose control of all branches of government over the last 4 years. They then have the gall to blame republicans for democrats not giving the votes needed to open the government back up, and a lot of their base is dumb enough to believe it. The problem for the left is that the moderate voters are NOT dumb enough to believe it. So while the lunatic fringe may rally around this foolishness and go join a protest and burn something down or whatever it is they do when they're mad, the left is hemorrhaging even more swing and moderate voters through this stunt. The left is like a kid who isn't good enough to win so they take their ball and go home so nobody can play and then blames everyone else for the game ending.

  3. I agree about the opt up. It should only be for schools with major travel issues. (i.e. El Paso, etc.) Not for schools that are are only traveling 60 or less miles. BC, HJ and Liberty all opted up for competition reasons. Not travel. You'll never convince me otherwise. I can see BC opting up because they are actually very close to DI numbers anyway. HJ and Liberty are not even close. Also, I am not all that hip on all the other sports going to divisions but if that is how it's going to be, then have divisional districts like football and not decide the divisions after district play. That actually allows a larger school to get in D2 depending on who makes playoffs. If they do go with divisional districts this next realignment for all sports (I am hearing they won't) then schools that opt up for football should have to play all the rest of their sports in that football district. You shouldn't be able to pick and choose what sport you want to opt up in and not.

  5. May I add the ACA was passed with not one Republican vote, along with 34 Democrats joining Republicans in the NO vote.... ACA is 100% a Democratic problem. They are holding out to continue to fund this bill that was not as promised.

  8. Absolutely no idea. I don't follow all the rest much, until the seedings and playoffs arrive. All I know is region 3 is strong, and the local district teams have not won a first round playoff game in a few years. I think Hardin can at least get a playoff win. Physicality will matter. Whatever the case I am happy for Hardin.

  12. If those schools don’t have to make multi-hour trips just for district games, then yes I would support that. I realize that I might place a higher value on reasonable travel compared to most in this forum. Long travel distances can become a significant burden for districts and the community.

  14. The district picks are 100% voted on by the coaches in the district themselves. They take the average place for each team and then seed from there. So the majority of your opposing coaches in your district agree with you all winning district and for good reason. @Cu Chulainn

  19. While that 2011 is the best Memorial team as far as playoff success goes, they gave up 20 ppg over 15 games with no shutouts while this bunch is giving up 12 ppg with 3 shutouts and one outlier game against Spring Legacy. That 2011 team was chock full of players but gave up 44 to Channelview. This bunch has a chance to reset the standard because of the defense. Going to Lufkin and shutting them out for the 1st time since either '78 or '89 is something special. And from what I've been seeing in possible playoff matchups, I like PA's chances getting to the 4th round and dare I say, beyond........

  24. Forgot about Huntsville. My bad. Yes this would be for 4th. 21 point cap is a total points cap differential in a singular game. Some districts have 15, 18 and 21. It's in place so that teams cannot "run up" the score to improve their playoff chances.

  27. I don't think Angleton will stop throwing to him, even with Duron out. They may not pass as much. Angleton uses a lot of end arounds and Jammer has carried 11 times for 94 yds. I suspect they may use more this game. Jammer is 1 for 1 passing for 12 yds. Jammer is also a threat on kickoff return, both he and Ace Simple. Angleton's OC is excellent at coming up with concepts. He has been with the team since 2011 except for three years. He left in 2015 irc to take a head coaching job at Boling where his team went deep into the playoff both years with playing in the state championship game the second year. He must have decided after that. that head coaching wasn't for him and for one year took an OC position at George Ranch. The next year when Brittain became head coach and Berneathy left for Dobie that there's "No place like Angleton" and reclaimed his old OC job.

  28. 100% agree with that. If you opt up in football then you opt up in every sport. It should be that you get to pick and choose who you play.

  30. Goes to positive points. I believe this district point cap is 21. Based on the one result (LC beat Dayton, 50-26) we already have, these are the current point totals for those three teams: Lake Creek +21 West Fork 0 Dayton -21 With 2 more results to be determined, those point totals will change. Let's say Dayton beats WF by 17, then they will finish with a point total of -4. WF would current be at -17. Then let's say WF beats LC by 7. Then WF would finish at -10 and LC would finish at +14. So with those results, LC would be #3 seed, Dayton #4 seed and WF out. But, I do not know if this is one of those districts that only uses positive points just to break three way then go head to head with remaining two teams. If that was the case, the seeds would still be the same with the example scenario that I posted. Of course, those two games yet to be played could change the point totals quite a bit from my example. Only thing for sure we know is the current point totals for Dayton and Lake Creek.

Weird how that happened and timing, I say no coincidence... government is so crooked its sad, both sides are guilty.. taxes dollars wasted on so much stuff its ridiculous..

  32. If it's strictly about budget and travel purposes, then just make the districts whatever 5-8 schools are closest to each other. Regardless of enrollment. See? That's ridiculous. Having schools in your UIL competition district that are closest to your enrollment size, even if you have to travel a little further, is not ridiculous. It's equitable. There are always exceptions, but if it's true that schools are potentially better/worse depending on their pool of students to draw from... then there needs to be split divisions. For every UIL extracurricular event. You can't pick and choose when it's fair.. or for what sport it's fair for. Or even when to ignore the fairness in the name of saving money. Playing against the same size schools is either fair or it isn't. If that's fair, then it needs to be that way for every sport.

    PNG @ Montgomery

Two different teams now. Especially PNG's team. Last year's game the #1 RB (Chatagnier) went down early with injury, and Tyson Henry was running with a bad ankle. Different core of receivers last year, different defense, or defensive effort, perhaps. This could end up being a close game, I don't know, but I don't see it having to do with last season's game.

How is that possible when Trump is holding the bag? Baddog doesn’t realize that the elderly also receive meals on wheels and snap. The meals on wheels program has been effected as well. Trump can distance himself all he wants. The no Kings rally put him on notice. At age 79 quickly approaching 80 his mental state is declining. Mention anything Biden on 2020 and he goes off the rails. He flirts about running a third term but doesn’t want to face Obama. More information will be released soon. ⏳

  38. competitive equity....if you have a district say 7-4A D1 and those teams were all in the same combined district you'd have a school with 1,200 kids in the D2 bracket because the top 3 teams are all over 1,200 playing schools with 600 kids....huge difference Its the biggest complaint about 6A is occasionally you'll get a really large school go D2 (Katy for example) and they dominate

    Week 10

Why didn’t anyone tell me that Texas State was gonna turn the ball over 4 times and play zero defense?
    1 point
  40. You’re not wrong. My point is the only thing Ned’s defense has been good at is being aggressive attacking the runner and getting to the backfield. That lines up well with what Huntsville is trying to do. PNG, Montgomery, and Lake creek were very successful being aggressive against the run, and Huntsville doesn’t really have a plan B. They’re not good passing. So, Nederland needs to sell out completely against the run. Force them to win through the air. Yeah, Ned’s secondary and linebackers aren’t good, so just have the linebackers attack gaps and tell the secondary to do their best. That’s basically your best shot and it plays to the only thing Ned’s good at on defense.

  43. My good poster Darth Texas If you have watched the Bulldogs then you know that they are absolutely horrible on defense. I am talking the entire defense especially LB’ers and Secondary. DL is better, however not by much. They are giving up 38 points per game in district. I look for Huntsville to score 35 are more and Montgomery 50 plus

    Government Shutdown

One thing people are seeing during the schumer shutdown is how many people rely on the government for food. 3.5 million Texans alone will lose food stamps. In a state of 31 million. 11% of Texans rely on federal money to eat. That is not help and assistance, that is lack of drive and will power for one's self and family. Living off the government has become a career for many (not all but many). As with everything the government touches it cannot properly oversee and run things. And they want to oversee our healthcare.

  48. There is a cap on the points. It's 18 for 10-4A DI. So a team could beat a team by 40, but it would only count as +18 for the tiebreaker. So how would you determine a three way tie if it's not by points?
    1 point
  49. This game will not be a blowout at all and I like both teams but Montgomery will be at home... Give me the Bears 34-31.
