I totally understand. My comment was to respond to the comment from @Austin1985 "1st order of business: change the priority from baseball to football..... " Wouldn't you rather say "1st order of business: change the priority from solely baseball to football, baseball and any other sport you want success in..... " It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

Thats just how it is at some places. Its pretty well-known that Coach Griff at LCM didn't want his best baseball guys playing other sports, and he usually got his wish.

If Lovejoy doesn't pull it off, I don't know that anyone does. Lovejoy is good, good. Beat Melissa 28-7, who SOC beat by a touchdown last week. They played a tough schedule as well, which will have them prepared. The Lovejoy/SOC game this week is the one I'm most interested in in the state not involving an SETX team.

I would think PNG(+ the Golden Triangle) will bring 10k easily.

I could see Lovejoy beating SOC - Their receivers are elite. Probably the most stacked offensive team in 5aD2. But, the qb is going to have to have time to throw, and SOC showed against Melissa that they can take that time away. Whichever we face , if we make it that far, is going to be a tall order. And this is assuming, I think correctly, that neither Frisco Emerson nor Colleyville Heritage will be waiting for us in Arlington.

So just some stats….. Defensively Bellville is averaging 5.3 points a game and Jasper is averaging 14.7 points per game. It’s going to be interesting to see how the game goes. Looking forward to the game!

I’m sure Pieper will be favored. Liberty Hill has been to the Region Final all 4 years they have been in 5A. I don’t think their first matchup has much importance. Liberty Hill had five 2nd half turnovers in that game and lost by 10. LH likes to ground and pound with the slot-T and Pieper looks like they like to sling it. This looks like another of these Reg 4 Finals where the punters can stay home. I see a shootout. Flip a coin for the winner.

So offensively what does Jasper have? Last week I was told that Bellville in no way form or fashion could prepare their defense all week for what they would see last Friday night…

It was no knock against Franklin. Squeezing by Woodville and beating Diboll by 2 TDs is not in the same realm as what Bellville did to Silsbee in my opinion based on what I believe I know about football in SE Texas. And for what it is worth, I hope Bellville is not better than Franklin because that would give Jasper a shot at an upset. If Bellville is markedly better than Franklin then Jasper is in for a long night I am afraid.

Orangefield doesn’t have one team pre-district that is a cupcake. They are playing tough competition. You should probably check them out at their tournament they host in 2 weeks. And if your comment is in regard to the quality of competition that Onalaska is then I would encourage you to watch them play as well at the Orangefield tournament. Historically I get it that Onalaska hasn’t been on that level but it’s a way different program now and that’s not me tooting my own horn as that’s all thanks to great kids.

Lamar hosts high school basketball, baseball and softball games ever single year. So they’re definitely in the high school game. It’s different on Thanksgiving break. I was told Stallworth didn’t have staff available to work either. PNG is having to provide their own limited concessions at CE King because they’re limited on staff as well. Jeff O’Malley is doing a great job at building relationships back up in the community and he realizes how important the high schools are here.

And they played really well at the TABC showcase this summer
