I agree with not a program builder & got to give Dodge respect on his offensive schemes pushing S-Lake \Westlake over the top into dominating state title winning programs. Dodge's college coaching run was a dumpster fire. Cameron Yoe (8-12), Carrollton Newman (8-12), Keller Fossil Ridge (7-12) & Marble Falls (8-12) North Texas (6-37)

I think he was the best to maintain what was already established. SLC and Westlake were already winning under previous regimes. He couldn't build anything at the other HS stops(names escape me) and North Texas. So, there's that

If PNG can cover that slot wide receiver and handle the trenches I think they win.

I have been following NC for many years. This is the best team I have seen. The coaching has been very good as well. For the first year in 6A we have a real shot at a perfect regular season. One game at a time but we have already beat the two teams I thought would give us the most problems. Two of the top ranked QB’s in the state in Willis’s Lagway and The Woodlands Mettaur. Conroe may test us but we have them at home. Reescano I believe has 15 TD’s through the first four games.

If you don't think size matters, you're crazy. Newton swung well above their weight class and won. Impressive feat not many can pull off. We are all aware Lumberton should have the upper hand. I suppose we'll go ahead and make the trip to Lufkin and line up and play them anyways if that's OK with you.

Great story, thanks for posting. As one of the elderly, I see dementia creeping into my life. Nothing to compare to what the Coach has, but it happens to some degree in most all of us. Wouldn’t wish severe dementia (Alzheimer’s) on my worst enemy. Google is my friend to help find the right word or how to spell. I used to be the guy everyone ask how to spell something. Now it’s a struggle. But the Coach - what a dynasty he built…… from nothing. What a legacy he leaves behind. Hundreds of young men learned life lessons from him. He may not remember but those young men will. And the community will. Well done Coach. Well done indeed.

Dude come on. PNG and Newton are solid teams. Just my take and my thoughts. Take nothing away from Silsbee. WOS has played a tougher schedule but Silsbee looks darn good. What do you mean always negative bro?

That statement was to mess with 89falcon lol......we knew what we were getting into when we saw it scheduled and are ok with it....win, lose, or draw. We graduated 29, got a new staff, and have implemented a new system. Went from one extreme to the other. Couple that with our enrollment of 484 to yalls 1244......and well....scheduling yall seems crazy. After realignment yall needed a game, we needed a game. And from my understanding Keeling and Reyes are buds in the coaching world. Yall haven't played a smashmouth run team and we want to keep getting better before district so It works out. I don't see where either of us could do wrong from this matchup. Good luck to yall.....hope we see a classic that's injury free.

LOL. I got to admit I really like us being on the other side of the "Oh well, we might as well not show up" statement. Looking forward to a good game. Probably will listen or watch from home. Trips are going to be few and far between for me unless I happen to wake up with a ton of energy. Go Raiders.

Looks like lcm booster club is trying to get the bear fans and cow bells to come to silsbee. Due to the scrutiny that WOS players and staff are receiving over their last 2 losses, why don’t all my BEARNATICS grab your bells and let’s go support them kids Friday night against Silsbee? Who’s with me?! Let’s show all these others towns and counties that we are ONE ORANGE!

I’m not having the same optimism. On the one hand, PNG looks like the nasty, rough defense we’ve all thought we’d never see again out of the Reservation. On the other hand, PAM (the only untroubled, steady, complete team we’ve played so far) made us look pretty silly. Ok, take away some points from PAM and give us a few to account for first-game, new coach jitters. It still shows us struggling against size, teamwork, and speed. I feel like we have a chance to make a massive statement. Our conditioning seems to be years ahead of a typical Faircloth team, and our tackling is much better. The offense appears more than competent. But I’ll have to see it to believe it against FBM.

Who is your team? Tarkington Longhorns How have they done compared to your offseason expectations? Better than expected coming off one of the worst seasons I've ever watched in my life What has been a positive? Offensively they have had some big plays, but more importantly they've had some long sustaining drives. Defensively they have played pretty well overall and the DC has made some good adjustments. Best positive so far is the fire and determination these kids have shown. Reflection of their AD for sure. What has been a negative? Passing game is still not good enough to fight off 8-9 in the box if a team decides to do so. Quarterbacks aren't really seeing kids open, just winging to a predetermined receiver. Defensively, tend to give up big plays and once district starts I feel like we are going to be undersized on our D-line. What are your new expectations for the season? We are still so young that playoff talks seem a bit presumptuous, but I'm really hoping we can pull off enough wins to sneak in. It would be such a huge boost to these kid's confidence who have had to deal with so much turnover and negative talk for the past couple years.

Man… that district is something… Even if Bellville gets the district championship we still get to play WOS, Silsbee, Jasper , or HF in the first round. I mention all 4 because I think they all have somewhat of a shot at finishing 1-4… My personal opinion thinks it will be Jasper or HF but you never know.

Should be a good one always is against Orangefield. Kids been through some adversity to start the year Coach T will get these young men rallied together.

Bug, I think it's many things that begin with changing from the 50. I think the present coach is a great person, but, I think it's a poor decision to come in and the first thing you do is change the first thing you said you wouldn't change. That also happens to be the foundation the program was built on. You know, it's kind of one of those deals, if your going to come in and change the foundation of the program, you sure as heck better be successful at it. I agree with DJ in that we don't have the personnel to run the 40. There's a reason we ran the 50 all these years. The lineman you need at the 3 techniques we don't have every year. The 50 plays into what we have in abundance, quickness. That, and we don't tackle like Mustangs anymore and I can only wonder if we still hit and tackle in practice (we may, that's just speculation). I've seen the people on FB blaming it on a young team and an overall lack of talent from years past. I coached these kids and the 10 classes before them. This class has as much talent, experience and ability as the last 2 or 3. All in all, I hope they get this thing rolling. But, when you make changes to something that didn't need changes, you put yourself on a much shorter leash than you would had you truly attempted to "continue the tradition".

WOS will still win a whole bunch of games. They will still play several rounds deep in the playoffs. They still have quality athletes. Hell, the way the district has been bleeding students the last 2 decades, they could be 3A-D2 one day. They will always be competitive. But…. I don’t feel they will ever be the WOS they use to be. Not unless better decisions, and better hires are made. The further we get away from the DRH and CT era’s, and the impact they had on the program, the more they will decline. How to kill a program? Get rid of any and everyone that had to do with past success, and change the philosophies and schemes that created the success. Coach T was a tough, hard nosed, old school disciplinarian. He was the S&T coordinator. Take that away, and replace him with anyone, and it’s a downgrade. I don’t care what kind of college experience the guy comes from.

As a public school administrator, over the last few years, there have been a substantial increase in student infractions in all areas of discipline, in my opinion. Society, as a whole, is part of the problem. My hope and prayer is that our student athletes will stay focused and continue to be leaders on campuses. Unfortunately, we still have to deal with all the variables that have an effect on school sports.

Yep. WOS had the highest winning percentage in the state using the same system every year. Why would these guys come in here and screw it up?

You are ride or die always have been. There are things that I know about what went on at the game that were un-called for. I do not mind calling people out on the acts. This is a young team with a young head coach. we should give it time. (JMO). Shaw is in a boot and will not play on Friday. He has a high ankle sprain. Thanks for giving me your insight about our home town. I hate hearing people form other areas of Orange taking digs at my neighborhoods where I grew up yet they want to merge with WOS without having nothing to do with the success that the players we know(n) built.. Trust and believe I have lots of family in Orange and I keep in touch.

As a tiger fan I always want them to win. Also as a fan I always want rivals to lose every game. I’d be lying if I wanted it to change this week either. Looking at this week it wouldn’t shock me to see wos win. Honestly I expect them to......they have to ......or there is a huge chance everything unravels. It wouldn’t be the first time a talented team with high expectations hits some adversity and implodes. Happens in college every year. LSU, Auburn, UT, possibly A&M. Wos this is your rally time. You either continue bickering or you come together and support your entire team/coaches. If you don’t think these kids get things in their heads then by all means keep the negative going. You think losing to a few good teams is bad, just watch where you can help drive this.

Everything in society is being threatened. The classic battle between good and evil. We still pray on the field before every game. It's something that has little affect on the outcome. But more affect on those student-athletes that participate. Sports can save many young men who otherwise wouldn't have that positive support group.
