  1. Let’s get back to the game. I have no idea how to get season stats for the district, but I’m assuming defensively we rank towards the bottom. And assume we must be close to the top in rushing. To the comment above about our defense, we have athletes on that side of the ball, and they do want to make plays, the issue is low football IQ. That puts us out of position on almost every play. Which leads to some better coaching IMO. I won’t waste a ton of typing on the subject, but numbers never lie, and at the end of the day, you are what you are. The only game plan for a PNG win is hiding an IPad in a Crosby coaches hoodie, and hoping he gets caught with it. Now after that being said, I would hope we run the ball 50 times and keep the Crosby offense off the field as much as possible. I do not see this being a close game, however I do see a few ways to keep it competitive. I hope we stay healthy, and have no injuries, which will give us our best chance when we play Texas City. Crosby is by far the class of the district, and I have no problems putting that in writing. PNG is on the other end of the spectrum, and hopefully can pull off a playoff spot, which might build a little momentum for next year. I was glad to see the younger QB get in the game last week, a great learning experience. I have Crosby by multiple scores. All this is just opinions based on my Tecmo Bowl experience. @mr.buddygarrity

  2. Why even start this thread. The JV coaches are the Varsity coaches. This thread is pointless

  3. In my opinion, JV is the least interesting level of football for any program and the least indicative of future success. All the best and most talented sophomores will be on Varsity. I’d be more proud of freshman success and even Jr High success than I would JV. But maybe that’s just me.

  4. From his webpage, yesterday they tested him breathing without oxygen and using room air. I think he did better than expected and was able to breathe on his own however they put him back on oxygen to keep from stressing him. Yesterday he also showed response such as moving his toes on command. He was doing well enough today that they took him off of oxygen completely and also off of sedation.

  5. Lol, Vidor not a long drive for a DC. But before we get ahead of ourselves, Vidor still has to play Livingston & Huffman while Ltown has to face the Bears (Splendora shouldn’t be a problem). Doesn’t hurt to dream a little though. I’ve been posting how the District has improved, and we’re getting close to parity. After next Friday we’ll be around the last turn and heading down the stretch. Even though the Ltown vs Vidor game may not be for the DC, it’ll still be for playoff spots, and I suspect all the Coaches want to avoid Kilgore & Lindale in the first round, two very tough teams. What an exciting season for fans in 10-4A-D1.

  6. FWIW, Renner, Tepper and Way mentioned Vidor on the 2hr. statewide highlight show. Go 10-0 and everyone will notice. Game at a time!

  7. And before people come for me, I’m not taking anything away from JV kids. Lots will end up spending time as starters On varsity eventually and others will provide the necessary depth.

  8. Yep 3 yard runs up the middle don’t look like much but if you give Vidor that then they are going to take it all night long. They have no problem going for it on 4th and short, so you have to defend them for 4 downs. You can tell pretty early on when a team is in trouble, if they get 5+ yards on first down you’re in for a long night.

  9. A good pass rush is what helps our secondary out, sometimes those scrambling QBs can give the DBs problems when they extend the play. Last year we had very small, short corners, good players but the jump ball gave them problems. This season we have more size on the outside and I like that. LCM only had a few bad drops but man were they in crucial moments. The one over the middle in the first half could have gone to the house, QB hit him right in stride.

    Week 7

Texas may never know who the right person is if they keep firing them after 3-4 years. These coaches (Strong, Herman ,Sark ) didn't come from winning back grounds and just forget how to win or coach. Gotta let someone come in and change the mind-set/culture, and it wont happen in one season. These Texas fans can definitely be the worst. Gotta give him a chance

  14. Well, let's see, PNG at home, for the toughest team in the district. (That's where Indian fans want it.) Homecoming night for increased excitement. (Sounds good.) I see now, Crosby is so dominant, and considers the PNG team so inferior, there is no chance of an Indian victory. Keep on believing that Cougars. Heck, don't even bother practicing for us, it's pointless. Just look right past that silly old Indian team. Keep that focus all week Cougars, please!👍🏈 See you on the field!

  17. This irritates me somewhat. There are four undefeated teams in the State in 4A-D1 football. Here they are with DC rankings. #1 Austin LBJ #2 Stephenville #7 Kaufman ** Vidor - the Rodney Dangerfield of Texas football. Keep on winning Pirates and stuff their rankings where the sun don’t shine.

Especially in the past, I could see this happening. I hope this bunch of Pirates will make it past all the mental barriers and get the win. These guys have been special all year, don’t go all mental on us this week. Buckle up and make it 7-0. If they can win a DC, they’ll go at least three deep. Let me repeat that, if they can win the DC, they’ll go at least 3 deep.

  30. That’s my argument I use when we get big leads we need to play opposite of conventional thinking. Start working on the passing game but we just try to run out the clock and save the pass plays like it’s some big surprise that nobody is going to see coming. I’d show it as much as possible and make defenses have to think about it.

  37. Kings game is not throwing, if they are behind much its going to be tough coming back. Kinda reminds me of Texas city last night at Crosby. I wish i would have seen Atascocita with their injured quarterback, he definitely looks the part of an athlete and leader as he’s constantly coaching up the sophomore.

  38. Livingston has dealt with a bunch of injuries and have had a nasty penalty bug. Maybe they're over it. That, and the Pirates don't like throwing the ball gives me hope that this will be a Lions win. The way things look, we could have three 3-2 teams and three 2-3 teams at the end of district. There's not much separating these teams.

  41. How can you get a rhythm in the passing ball if you wait all year to the playoffs? Need to throw the ball atleast 10-15 times. LCM was off last night just think if you tried to open it up in a playoff game. That’s a gamble I wouldn’t take

  43. There were 44 Pickums. Only 5 picked Ltown and 11 picked Vidor. Neither one gets any respect. How fitting would it be for the final regular season game between Ltown & Vidor to be for the District Championship? It’s a real possibility. Good luck Raiders.
