  1. Agree on all points. WO-S' three turnovers nearly cost us the game, but the way they hung in and came back in the 4th after giving up the lead showed guts. If they had not taken a knee and run out the clock at the end (which was the right thing to do), I think WO-S scores again. Many good signs for the Mustangs going forward. The Chain Gang is back to the level of play that dropped off some last year, our QB showed patience and accuracy, the receiving corps had better hands than what showed in the scrimmages, the O-line shined, and how about the kicking game? Wow. Two of WO-S' rotating tailbacks were not suited up, so Gales (#41) carried a heavy load going both ways and still getting 100+ yards rushing. That young man does not go down easy. Only a sophomore. I expected a hard fought game because after all this was Nederland, it was at their place, and what I saw in their scrimmages impressed me. This was one of the better Nederland teams we've seen in a good while. We've seen Vidor, PNG, and Nederland up close and Nederland looks the best of the three. The running game will carry them and their passing looks decent enough to give them a good balance. Their D was good, as well. I'm glad Ned is getting turf. That field was a sloppy mess before the game even started.

  2. Typical WOS-Nederland game very close hard hitting slug fest. Lots of defense. Last year 1 point in Nederland favor, this year 1 point WOS favor... best of luck for the rest of the season.

  3. I was present at this one......for the rest of the season #41 needs to have 20-25 carries a game. FEED HIM THE ROCK

  4. I was the one who started the conversation on the qb battle, and I asked the other day about who would step up at receiver. Both questions were answered last night for sure.

  5. I was impressed with Ned's running game, passing game and their defense. I think they will be very solid this year. I was impressed with same for WOS, but most impressed with their heart. I saw more heart last night than I did all of last season. To have 3 turnovers, several mishandled balls and have a come from behind 4th qtr win in a hostile environment is a pretty good deal.

  6. You mean Johnson right? Offense is literally never an issue at Png besides that one random year way back, the issue was D.

  7. Great ballgame. WOS came out firing and controlled the first half. The Dogs settled in and played very well in 2nd half. The high snap on the XP was huge and trying a 44 yard FG on a wet field is not smart on 4th and 5 imo. That turned the game around. Chain Gang is for real. Ned offense is exciting to watch. Fuseleier and both RBs look great for the Dogs. Ned dropped what looked like it might have been a TD on a slant route with under 3 to play. Both teams look very good to me. Good luck the rest of the way to the Stangs and congrats on a hard fought win.

  9. Conditioning is a factor for sure... Its the first game and playing both ways the whole game against a team that requires your best athletes to stay on the field reveals the gaps between 100% conditioned and 90% conditioned. It will always be a concern when dealing with athletes.... I find it hard to believe that Silsbee is the only team that has leg cramps. It wont be a concern going forward, never is in my opinion.

  10. Agreed, and I don’t see anyone getting excited... That would be like poor Hardin, getting excited for scheduling a homecoming game the 1st game of the year, vs a historically bad program and getting the win, oh they just did that lmao...
    2 points
  11. Oh lord, you’re missing the point of what I’m saying. Playing against bigger teams doesn’t cause cramps. If they are cramping next week against Newton what will you say then? My point is, conditioning would be a concern of mine going forward.

  13. I'd love to see Silsbee may another deep run in the playoffs and play either WOS or Jasper to get to the state semifinals again and advance pass that game to Dallas.

  14. I'm happy with the win and I was the first to say.... payback completed. They kicked our arses on our field last year, we got them on their field. I was impressed with the DB Rivers on defense after two scrimmages and was high in him. He didnt disappoint this game, only a sophmore, with the INT return for paydirt.. D-line played very well in stopping the run and getting after the QB. I loved that we ended up making St Pius one dementional passing to get our secondary some work and they rose to the occasion. Played mostly backups in the second half and they got a lot of burn. You see, we didn't have that luxury last year. Offense looked good with several options bat or disposal. Both RB's did what I expected them to do. O-line blocked well, especially on pass protection. I think I'm most impressed with special teams. Kicker, besides the one missed PAT, did really well, especially in kickoffs booting in in the end zone every kickoff it appears. St. Pius obviously was a shell of themselves from last year with the hot shot QB graduating, but was still a good team, but was overwhelmed by the overall team speed and athleticism. I do look for improvements in the passing game though. The one long TD pass in the first half was underthrown by the QB, but relied on a hell of a jump catch by the WR, assisted by the St Pius DB falling down. There was another pass that was thrown incomplete in the vicinity of TWO open United receivers. That can get better, and I'm sure it will as we play more games. Overall, I'm happy where we are at thia time and all I want is us to get better and be peaking un district play and beat the teams we need to beat. Next up, Big Ned. #runwiththepack

  15. I did not attend the game. Listened to the PN-G radio broadcast, only. PN-G missed Garth. According to the PN-G radio team, he will not return this year. Texas will honor his verbal commitment. He will heal-up, rehab, graduate, and focus on playing football in Austin. PN-G will miss him. Good size and athleticism, 2-years of experience, and a great teammate and friend to kids on the team. Hard not to miss those great qualities. All of that said, the Indians have to find the next man up. In the 2nd half, the PN-G OL created some running lanes. I heard the radio team mention the names Sasser, Dickerson, Callier, Lusauckis, Burt, and I am probably missing one or two other names. Breaking News: PN-G will not go undefeated. The Indians will have some growing pains. They have several kids that are worth watching. If the Indians avoid injuries, they should be a tough out in district. Bost can throw the ball around the yard, there are a few good WRs, and a solid rotating group of RBs. Remember the name Vaughn. JR RB. North/south runner and he runs with some meanness. I like the Vaughn/Connor combo at RB. Nice change of style at the RB spot. Everyone likes to hammer the PN-G defense. Per the radio team, the Indians were in position to make some stops, but the Silsbee RBs and WRs made some plays. The Tigers wanted to win, too. Their kids did not just roll over and let PN-G stop them. You tip your cap to the other guys and recognize that they want to play well, too. PN-G won because of depth. The Indians wore down Silsbee in the second half. The Tigers got tired and then turned the ball over. For PN-G, @ Huntsville and home for Tomball may be some of the growing pains that I mentioned above. Keep getting better Indians...stay away from injuries. Bost and Vaughn are some nice pieces to the puzzle. Just need to tighten up the secondary and keep playing hard on defense. Go Indians. Peace.

  19. Good game by both teams. Ned's running backs will be hard to contain this season Good luck. Mustang's have a few things to work on like center QB exchange is a little rusty. QB will get better they are young but much improved. Looking forward to seeing how well they play against LCM next week.

  26. What I am saying is in response to Silsbee being tired in the second half. I don't know what they do for conditioning but WOS always seems to last 4 quarters. Just comparing to depth of each team. If WOS can do it why can't Silsbee, all I am saying.

  27. Congrats PNG on a hard fought win. This was a good game to watch, PNG just had fresher leg in the end. Both offenses showed they could strike fast and grind it out, both defenses showed they can make the offense work for a yard but also need work to get off the field. The difference in this game was turnovers and penalties. At half time both were the same and the end of the game it was one sided. This was just a hard hitting, tough game that both teams can learn off of. Good luck the rest of the year PNG. TigerNation!!!

    LCM VS WOS

This is my take on LCM, we played good on defense tonight which surprised me. Offense played well but couple of bad snaps and a drop passed cost us 21 points. Against good teams you have to score every time you have the ball. Do I think LCM is better then last year. Yes I believe we are better then last years team. That's how it looked tonight. I'm hoping for LCM to play a competitive football game, and keep the point difference close. I think WOS would have to struggle on offense and LCM would have to play very good defense to keep it that way. This is not a rivalry game nothing is won or loss here in Orange just my opinion. After the game I'm going back to support my neighbors on the rest of the year. I just hope LCM gives WOS all they want where they can get better and I know WOS will give us more then we want.
